But I gotta say, at the same time, I think it will be extremely sad if RR, a great offensive mind, gets fired without ever having a chance at having a 2nd year starter at QB. Something about that just seems grossly unjust. Despite the catastrophe of the last three years, my position is: I think we should give RR a full five years, just like Canham told Bo he had five years to prove himself. Given RR's successful track record, I think he deserves that much.
My biggest problem with firing RR is that we'd get another 2-3 years of this minimum. See: ND.

Get a coach that knows how to coach the talent he has (See: Meyer, Urban) and the transition isn't that bad.

btw, The only way RR gets fired imo if winning 6 games is if Brandon has "his man" and knows he'll take the job.

This is very wishful thinking. Every coaching change causes significant attrition, and we just can't handle that anywhere and be a good team still.

Ike...with what we have seen this season...or ceiling next year isn't even double digit wins. How sad is that...in richrods 4th season if everything were to go right our ceiling isnt even 10 games lolollol.

Ceiling is definitely above 10 wins for next year.

I don't know is GERG is just completely incompetent or won't play any man to man because our corners are on AIDS on a stick but I really see no way he makes it past this season no matter who the coach is.

yep, like I said offense is going to be just as good or probably better and getting Woolfork +Martin and a year of weights and **** for the young guys but that all might be for nothing with GERG

we played a decent amount of man yesterday and got burned quite a bit. Something is obviously wrong though.

Right, that's probably the biggest reason I want him to get 5 years.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any reasonable way to judge GERG right now for the same reason we really couldn't judge English: sample size issues. My biggest beef with GERG is not his performance (which I know I don't have the expertise to analyze) but the hiring of him to begin with given his very poor track record. Maybe I'm being naive, but I figured at a place like the Univ of Michigan, with presumably very deep pockets, RR could've found a stud DC with an awesome track record and paid him stud $$.

Ceiling arguments are stupid. They're not about what the ceiling really is statistically, they're about conveying a general feeling. I think the ceiling next year is 10 wins. I know that that technically is not correct, but who cares. Let's not nit ourselves to death.

Well, Lloyd recruited the seniors that suck. RR recruited the freshman that suck, thing is you can turn Freshman who suck into decent or hell, maybe even good football players.

the PSU game was never garbage time. those were all legit yards

however, vs. Iowa, when Michigan was down 21, Iowa was just playing prevent vs. Tate and Tate got lots of yards through the air that weren't there in the first half. Not that it matters that much either way.

Except that the freshmen that sucked when Lloyd recruited them still suck now as seniors, so RR's track record there isn't exactly stellar.

on offense, we have a stud SOPH, and some solid juniors

on defense, we have aids on a stick (copyright from above poster)

you would think we would have 5-6 guys that are soph/juniors that would at least be decent
