Just an outsider's question if you don't mind. You've said the above a few times. Does it really matter that you outgained the opposing team, if it's just by a few yards?

It doesn't guarantee you a win or anything, but it is a sign of how close the teams are

Coming off a bye when you know you're facing a true freshman or a ****ing walkon and you put on a performance like that on defense.

Injuries or not, coaches have to come up with some kind of scheme to maximize the players abilities. How many ****ing times did mcwhateverhisnameis roll out to the right on 3rd down and have a guy WIDE open.

Can't see Michigan winning against Illinois next week, obv going to beat Purdue although they will put up 30 on us but mahhhhh gahhhhhhhhhd that seat is going to be hot and I'm indifferent if RR comes back, I understand if you give him one more year but wouldnt be devastated if he's fired.

I guess you're argument is our offense is very good (lots of yards) and if our defense would mature and have a competent coach then michigan would win games.

yeah, I agree with that and I am pretty frustrated (had that post brewing since after the game).

Yeah exactly, let's not get crazy here. Any progress means something which is why bowen's question is beyond ******ed.

Not really, my argument basically is that total yards is a somewhat meaningful stat.

A lot of our yards came in garbage time vs Iowa/Penn St when they both had hugeeee leads of us no? I've had big obligations the last 2 saturdays and i didn't catch any of the game last night, but i imagine Ike being happy about teams letting us drive up the field down 3 TDs

Basically right now, we're experiencing a perfect storm of injuries, bad luck and bad play. The coaches have to be somewhat responsible for the truly awful defensive performance yesterday, but I'm really not sure how much of that is on the coaches.

Some, or even most, is, but they are truly awful talentwise as well.

Fair point. I understand that Freshman/Sophomores aren't going to step in and be good from the get-go but the coaches have to know that but they HAVE to find a way to utilize the players that gets the best out of them.

having the RB dead to rights behind the line on 4th and 1 and letting go of him is still haunting me.

Man, I was expecting your gif there. Instead you don't answer the question but in a less effective way.

So basically you admit that the total yards being skewed because we are getting it in garbage time is impressing you. Cool. I was around nothing but Buckeye/Browns fans for 10 hours yesterday. They all want RichRod fired so Michigan can get back to being good/the rivarly can actually be a rivalry again. Pretty damn sad when your biggest rival can even see that he should be gone and wants us to improve more than our own "knowledgable" fanbase.

ike gimme a cool breakdown from mgoblog stating why its just badluck.

For some good news, kinda, from yesterday:

It seems like martin hurt his other ankle, so his season isn't essentially done imo.

I gotta admit, I feel this frustration too, as I'm sure many others do. If RR gets fired, it won't be the end of the world to me either. Kinda like when I'm down a couple thousand at the casino, it doesn't really matter if I lose a few hundred more. It's just pure numbness after a certain point. But I gotta say, at the same time, I think it will be extremely sad if RR, a great offensive mind, gets fired without ever having a chance at having a 2nd year starter at QB. Something about that just seems grossly unjust. Despite the catastrophe of the last three years, my position is: I think we should give RR a full five years, just like Canham told Bo he had five years to prove himself. Given RR's successful track record, I think he deserves that much.

When did garbage time start for you? Because the game was definitely in reach until they made the fg due to the bs penalty. Iowa game wasn't done until late either

Just talked to my mom, apparently the family is supposed to go to my grandmother's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. At least I discovered this early enough to find some workaround, but there's no way in hell I'm watching the OSU game at my grandmother's house.

5 years? thats a toooo much.

IF he is brought back next year (6 wins, 55%. 7 wins, 85%. 8 wins, 100%) then he has to win 10 games. The offense will be as good, if not better and I guess the defense has to be better by getting Woolfork back and plus the natural maturation of the frosh and soph's currently.
