Open to shipping out prospects for a top 50 MLB bat with at least two to three years on the contract.

Definitely not retroactive, since people had been dealing players under the 5% assumption. I think I mentioned at one point that this would be annoying, so sorry about that.

I'm not sure exactly how you're handling the salary escalation, but at least it's a pretty hard condition based on the player's contract year. If contract year <= (current year - 2014), escalate by 10%. Else 5%.

Touche.

Well today is no good for me, and tomorrow likely isn't either, but i'll get that added in next couple of days. It actually isnt much of a pain in the ass at all.

Can you please cite where this appears in the thread?

My understanding is the 10% annual increase would apply to all future salaries, for all contracts in effect for the 2015 season.

EDIT: I found where this was mentioned.

These were in relation to the survey that was used to vote on the 10% increase. However, I did not see any record of anyone other than Levarkin making this statement and the "grandfather" clause was not actually described in the survey itself.

Are there any strong objections to grandfathering existing contracts at 5% and applying the 10% to all new contracts starting in 2015?

No. That's how it assumed it would work. That said it doesn't matter much to me either way.

Hmm, you're right, I didn't put any reference to the grandfathering into the survey. My bad.

Anyway, I don't want to cause trouble for Exit et. al, or be annoying about it or anything, grandfathering just seems like the fairest implementation. But I can understand it being scrapped if it ends up being really annoying.

Also, I dunno, maybe it doesn't affect existing contracts too much at all and isn't worth worrying about. Haven't really analyzed the magnitude of the impact. If it's easily doable, I think we should do it. If not, no worries. Trust Exit/Pecota's assessment 100%.

I'm fine with it being grandfathered, I just honestly thought it was across the board, hence my skepticism.

I posted the above for transparency's sake and to make sure anyone who wanted to speak up had the chance to do so. Seems like we're good though.

grandfathering makes most sense to me even if it doesnt have a huge impact, and it wont be a big deal at all to deal with. i'll get it implemented tonight some time.

i like how it adds to trade value of the old contracts. new dynamics always fun.
