The Hammering Hammers and I have agreed to terms on a trade, Ive not put it through on ESPN bc it involves minor leaguers.

The Hammers Send:

Jonathan Papelboner ($54)
Carlos Pena ($64)
Mark Reynolds ($72)

to Coff in exchange for:
Pedro Alvarez ($4)
Julio Tehran ($4) *minors

Hammers has agreed to cover the difference in salary for the remainder of this season.

$190-$8=$182

Hammers will quote to confirm.

Confirm.

I assume that I have to either drop a minor leaguer or promote someone, as my minor league roster is full.

I will blow up my team for the right deal.

I have some really good guys mixed in amongst my utter garbage.

Would love some salary relief.

Correct.

I'll process the trade once the 48 hour period ends (it is 48, right?) on Friday.

I'll drop Jay Jackson to make space for Teheran in my minors.

I might sell a starter (not Sabathia or Wainwright), and I might move Melancon if people are wanting to strengthen this year. As usual, anything that makes me better for next year will be considered.

People who are not for sale (or at least not unless you come up with an offer which really improves me for next year) are: Cano, Tulo, Santana, Alvarez, Sabathia, Wainwright and Santos. I would also probably hang on to Sandoval, Jones, Moreland and maybe Rios.

Well, I was going to process that trade tonight, but Coff needs to pick three players to drop from his MLB roster first. No room.

Also, please confirm that I read this right: Banhammer is going to have $190 added to his payroll, while Coff loses $190, correct?

Yeah I pay Pena, Reynolds and Papelbon's salaries this year because Coff has no cap space.

With Victorino on the DL I should only need to cut 2...

Bloomquist and Colvin

This is a small thing, but do we count minor league cuts the same as major league ones? I thought we would, but wanted to check. This would affect the guy Banhammer just cut from his system, so that'd be a $4 adjustment.

Also, I put the trade through this afternoon, so that should be good to go.

With K-Rod to Milwaukee, I'm making the Mets' new closer, Bobby Parnell ($6), available via trade. I could also part with Francisco Cordero, but that would be for a different price (talent, not salary wise, I'd eat Cordero's salary).
