All of those guidelines are fine. Late player swap is just weird. It ups the gamble. I'm with those who say if the leagues themselves were bound to lineups with an hour advance. There is no competitive advantage to waiting until 5:54. That's juvenile. There's already the added risk to later games in all sports anyway.

david dodds said recently that he doesnt play on dk bc he doesnt like the late swap. he said the reason is that all lineups should be available for download at lock in the name of transparency. personally i dont like late swap for other reasons (mainly just want to be able to move on with my life at contest start time) but i hadnt really thought of that before. think its a pretty good point and i have to agree. i mean not that i needed a lot of convincing on the topic tbf.

No late swap makes NBA even more of crap shoot.

Late swap is terribly stupid imo

Let's reward the pros who stare at Twitter all night. No thanks

Keep the games healthy and make it fairer for the casual fan.

MLS is pretty much un-doable without late swap... not that many probably care

Her regulations are just a working template though. That is probably why the sites are receptive to them. Nothing extremely unreasonable, no money grab and they probably know she will be willing to budge on a few of those listed that may be harder to implement.

This is why I'm not in a bunch about it. Hell, I play FD over DK, partially because of what 34 said. I like not looking at Twitter again when 6:00 pm hits.

no late swap is terrible for baseball since west coast lineups often aren't out at 7:00

it also obviously sucks giant dick for the full nfl slate

would never play a site without it if there's any alternative

+1. Rare bad posting stretch by dkgo.

well, "pretty much" every day doesn't cut it imo.

there were definitely regular slates with a straggler or two (plus the obvious ones that start afternoon)

well i played baseball almost every day on a site with no late swap and i can only remember off the top of my head once or twice where i didnt have access to every single lineup before lock. sure sometimes the 10pm games come out at like 650 which is lame but still enough time to adjust lineups and such. but anway since youre never going to admit you were wrong we'll just go ahead and say you were correct about this so we can all move on...

Late swap is terrible from an operator standpoint.

Late swap is great from a sharp player standpoint.

I think that is why FD never did it. They knew it just helped the regular players and fleeced fish.

DK needed some product differentiation from FD and they probably figured that was one of the ways to do so.

Completely understandable. But I have a life and people choosing to make this a career isn't my problem. I don't see it as recs ruining their job, so much as professional gamblers thinking an entire game should make its rules bend to their edges. There is a self-importance to the pros, which is just a product of the game's infancy.

Not bitter about it or have a strong stance on what sites ought to do, but I choose to primarily play the site without it and that is a reason. Pretty sure 95% of fish don't know the significance of late swap and just play a site where they've cashed before or the first site with a commercial they liked.

I would say the self-importance has a lot to do with bros just getting a modicum of fame out of nowhere that they never expected and it went to their heads a little.

+1

I mean I play on both sites now and late swap certainly helps me but I'd prefer a healthier and happier ecosystem.

For nfl late swap is prob less of an issue. For something like soccer or nba it's a way bigger deal.
DFS Industry Discussion Thread Quote
11-20-2015 , 09:46 AM
Yeah NBA it just makes the player pool a little smaller and less strategy in terms of roster construction, but I would think the sites would want that anyway.

Sites definitely need to focus on the ecosystem a little more and all out growth a little less for the long-term, problem is they likely wanted to IPO in the next 18-24 months as well.

A sub option for each position at or below the cheapest owned at the position, but that's a complexity the sites want to stay away from. They have more interest in simplicity and accessibility than these nuances.
