The title of this thread made me think that the OP was like 65 or 70. I'm 38 and this title made me feel really old. You're not old. Good luck on your ventures! I wish you the best. I myself have posted a moving to Vegas thread but have not taken the leap. It's difficult to do at this point for me personally. But I hope you are successful in your move.

I didn't put an actual age on him. I just figured he meant that he isn't an internet kid.

Are you kidding? You're old enough to be my grandfather.

This.

Anything over 27 seems ancient to many on this forum.

So yes the title of my thread was made in context of the perceived range of ages of those on the forums.

Great Race to Rewards

So I've been researching this program and I think I should incorporate this into my move to Vegas.

I can hit Cherokee, Tunica, Bossier City, AK-Chin and finally Ballys. If earn 25 tier credits at each ill earn a total of 50,000 reward points. That's $500 worth of harrahs value. Not sure what I'll use them on but I'm sure they will come in handy.

I believe two hours of play will earn 25 credits so that should be relatively easy.

I think I can get comped rooms at Cherokee and Tunica and Ballys.

All these are along my way.

Poker players may get reduced rates after a minimum of 6 hours play, but I have never heard of them receiving comped rooms. Then again, I'm only familiar with Vegas and the Foxwoods of years ago.

I play poker at Cherokee in NC (A Harrahs casino) . During a LV trip this June a friend and I received a comped room at Ballys from Tuesday - Friday, and only had to pay $50 for Saturday. That was pooling the cards. If we each got our own room, the Friday night would have been $25, Saturday $70, not a bad rate.

Getting a comped or discounted room at Cherokee is very hard just playing poker. I figured that is because of the limited number of rooms compared to LV.

I too have gotten comped room offers on several occasions. I don't think it has much to do with only playing poker but more so your total action, tier score, shoe size, favorite color and whatever mystical formula harrahs takes into consideration.

Someone mentioned earlier that you shouldn't get a coach until you are ready for 2/5 NL. They are 100 percent correct.

It is so easy to beat 1/2 NL in Las Vegas. For the most part, your opponents will tell you when you are beat. Just value bet them to death until you are raised. Then fold all one pair hands pretty much instantly and think hard about other hands that you are holding.

You'll be a guaranteed winner with this strategy.

I was planning on going up the road either the first or second weekend of September.

If I go that weekend I'll definitely buy you a drink and we can trade a couple bad beat stories.

Quick update:

My schedule has freed up a bit so I'll be hitting a local card room before the move to Vegas. It's filled with degens and generally bad players. Look for session reports and such soon.

GL GL GL.... I'd like to know how it goes because I've been thinking of something like this for a while...

I'm curious to know how your other expenses are covered. Namely, health insurance and if you have any fixed income that would help with this adventure....

I know this is going to come off as a thinly veiled brag but whatever. Since breaking up with the GF, I am getting hit on by the opposite sex a bit more. Am I exuding some sort of new confidence? Do they suspect the success that lies in front of me in Vegas? I do not know but I'm not complaining.

Good luck sir. Losing 4k is worth it for knowing you went for it.

Forum idolizes people who started with 10$ and made millions then they have to drag you down.

Sure theres a big chance itll fail and youre very aware of it already, so all whats left is to wish you luck. I admire your courage. Age is just a number and lifes too short for that number to mean anything.

Quick Update
Filed a small claim against former employer. They owe me wages in the 4 figures. Nice addition to bankroll. Hopefully case will be heard in next few weeks.

Going to play a session tonight. Report tomorrow and hands.
