Definitely this instead of a cab. Taking a cab up and down the strip is just expensive and kinda disgusting. Probably wouldn't cost that much more than a cab anyway.

This is a god awful idea. Your cab from the airport to MGM would be around $15. To go up and down the strip it would cost a damned fortune. You can get a limo for $70/hr or so or do one of the double decker bus tours or whatever which is a much better option.

In Vegas, you'll see multiple booths that are from a discount ticket company (I think it's called Tix4Tonight or something, I don't remember)

There's a booth around CityCenter I think and another one in the Fashion Show Mall.

These places sell same day tickets to almost all the shows for 50% off or more. Very good deal if you just want to see the show, however I don't think these seats are going to be the best ever, they'll still be super good value.

If you need to know (and you don't really), the cab will likely take Paradise to Flamingo, or Trop to Koval to Flamingo. Could also be Trop to Koval to Harmon to Audrie or the Strip. Any of that is fine, it'll all be cheaper than the freeway.

Cab from Bellagio to Venetian will depend entirely on time of day and traffic. Will run $6-12 generally.
thanks

I've never done the poker room rate at any hotel I've stayed at and I'm considering giving it a try this time out. Is there generally a room restriction on what the rate applies to? For example, I'm thinking of booking a corner suite at Aria at $159/night using a promo code I found. Would I still be able to earn the $99/night poker room rate for this room or does that only apply to the basic/deluxe room?

the poker director actually answered this in the 2+2 party thread!

Quote:
We have a great relationship with our Marketing Department that has enabled us to offer the discounted rate on our Deluxe Rooms. However, currently our suites have not been opened up to a discount in our Poker Block. If you play in the Casino or have a Host, they may be able to help with booking a suite at a discount.

Thanks,
Adam

So, in other words, just call ahead?

?

no...i think it's pretty clear that you can't reserve a suite under the poker rate! you should still call ahead, though!

Well then what's the "they may be able to help you book a suite at a discount" part?

.......

Wouldn't you have to play in the casino to get the rate anyway? Also, what does having a host mean?

Never seen the show Las Vegas, I assume? A casino host is a person who handles the high rollers.

when they say casino, they are referring to table games and slots. not the poker room!

a host is just an employee of the casino who's kind of a personal concierge to the casino's best customers!

if you gamble, and rate to lose a lot of money, a casino host will get in touch with you and offer you items such as free/discounted rooms, promo chips, or even hookers and blow (but you must lose a lot for that).

Hi,

I want to go to the Venetian in September, 2nd to 9. I was very happy when I saw their poker rates. The only problem is that they apply until August.

What do you think they will be in September ? The same rates or higher ?

I tried emailing them but got no answer. I would try to call the V but my english is pretty bad and I'm not sure to understand what they will tell me.

Anybody have recommendations for the best place to stay for a group of 3 women ranging from ages 40-60ish? I think they're interested in shopping, relative cheapness, and reasonably central strip location so they can visit all the different casinos. Not really sure of the general vibe of some of the more centrally located casinos so if anybody has a recommendation, I'd appreciate it!

There will be poker rates in September, it's just too far out from now for them to publish them. Probably will be about the same $ as they are now, maybe a little more.

Almost all of them strive for the 'vibe' of the 21-33 year old partiers nowadays. That being said, a few feel like they have more class than others. I would say Paris, Wynn, Mirage, TI, and Ceasars Palace. (Probably Aria also). None of those are cheap because they are in the Central Strip and thus they know they can charge more for people who want to be near/in the big places.

Bellagio is an irritating snobsvill. All the LV shopping is a rip-off but I bet you are an expert there...

In the cheaper places you will be waist deep in drunk 20 somethings: Riviera, O'Sheas, Bill's, Flamingo, Bally's, PH. Depending on what you are going for
