Have been to the Comedy Stop @ Trop about 5 years ago, as well as some standup thing at Harrahs and both were ok - looking for something where we can see a few comedians in one show for not too much money, not bothered about big names, just looking for laughs!

Thanks in advance!
the tuscany has some kind of comedy thing in their "T spot lounge" (former poker room) every weekend. Never been, but every time id pass by people seemed to be entertained.

Thanks for that, we might take a look. Anyone got any suggestions for right on the strip?

Hopefully this is the right place to ask, sorry if some are repeated,
Briefs:
- Visiting LV on Jan (9- 18) (only 2 dedicated for attending an event)
- First time, Solo, coming from overseas.
- Interested in: playing poker, 1-2, 1-3, 2-5.
- Non poker activities: visit the Grand Canyon, a circus, try some sportsbooks (for fun), and some pits, mainly craps (for fun).
- Not interested in: parties, clubbing, drinking, hookers, ...

My major concerns in order:
1. Security and safety.
2. Clean stay.
3. Budget
4. Poker and pits.
5. Enjoy LV.
6. Some shopping

Hotel stay: plan to stay in 2 or 3 different locations (Flamingo and Rio are my main targets, Trop on watch list as well), I will need a clean safe room to sleep and shower, since I will spend most of my time out. Not bringing anyone to my room, not watching TV, not eating in room, …!

-Plan to pay around 800 for hotels (no problem if up to 1K for something worth it.

- Why are hotels so expensive on Jan 9 (Wed) and Jan 10 (Thu) and are more expensive than the following weekend?
- Why is the Rio so cheap compared to other 4 star hotels on the strip?
- Any comps for sale?
- Any drawbacks of reserving through a third party? Delay my processing at the desk? Wont accept $20 trick? Wont give non-smoking room if they are short of them? Wont honor your reservation if short of rooms?

Car Rental for 1 week:
I got a deal for 20$ a day including CDW:
- Is it better to visit the G.C. driving? or go with a tour agency?
- Is parking free?
- Is parking available most of the time in Casinos?

Reward and comps:
- Will it help for my case? If I ever visit LV again, it wont be before 1 year after.
- If I plan to play poker every day between 4 – 10 hours, and do some pits (couple of times, an hour or 2 mx each), all in various locations, will cards help accumulate anything I can make use of (such as $$ buffet for buffet or for shops) ?
- Does TR card cover all these casinos mention on TR website? is it the same card that is used for comp $?

Others:
- Planning to buy a sim card with a data package. Is T-mobile my best choice?
- what are the best on-the-strip Cafeshops? LV related souvenir shops (1$ chips set , Cards from diff casinos, etc ..), outlet shops anywhere in LV?

Book directly with the hotel and you can get a refund if you cancel 2 or more days prior--refunds are less certain from third parties. If you book directly with the hotel and prices come down, it's easy to get the lower price--third parties may or may not honor such things. If things go "wrong" and you show up at the hotel and they say "who are you--we have no such reservation" you have a problem you have to resolve with the third party, not the hotel. Third parties demand prepayment, hotels demand one night as a deposit.

I know of no advantage to booking with a third party unless it's cheaper than booking directly with the hotel.

Long trip either way to the GC (unless you do the west-side, non-national-park Hualipai-GC thing). Driving obviously gives you flexibility, tour gives you peace of mind and perhaps sleep on the return trip.

Parking is free everywhere on the strip and usually plentiful. Downtown the garages charge, but you can get several hours of the fee waived if you get the ticket stamped in the garage's own casino.

Comps expire at CET after 6 months of inactivity, but get the card and use it while you're there. MGM poker rooms, far as I know, don't expire poker room comps (but comps earned from pits and slots do expire, I think).

$1/hr for playing poker at all Caesar's properties, and the TR card can be used like a credit card to pay for almost anything in the casino (food, hotel, gift shop). Poker comps for the day don't show up until after midnight.

MGM does poker comps separately within each room and they are not put on the card. But if you will put in 15 hours at Bellagio, say, that turns into $30 of comps which would basically pay for a buffet (comps are $1, $2, or sometimes $3/hr at MGM properties, but at those properties where it's >$1 everything costs about twice as much). You gotta ask the poker room for the comp and then go hit the restaurant, and their comps don't (far as I know) work for anything except food. Apparently, computerizing such things is beyond MGM's abilities, much like joining Bravo Poker Live is beyond their abilities.

Bav gives good advice above.

Yes TR card covers all of the CET casinos i.e. all the ones mentioned one their website Although their comps expire within 6 months of activity , they have an online marketplace with lots of stores I just buy a book or something at the end of 6 months to keep the points active.

There are two big cards that each cover most of the casino's with poker rooms. They are the CET Total rewards card (which you know) and the Mlife card (Mirage, MGM, Belagio, Excalibur, etc.) There are some cards that only cover one casino most notably are the Grazie Card (Venetian) and the Wynn card. I would at least get and use these four cards.

With the Total reward card you can use the points earned to payoff your room charges at the end of your trip. ( I don't understand whay there is a delay, but the points earned on the last day may not have been updated to your account, when you check out.)

Can someone tell me the places worthwhile I can use Mlife express comps besides my room and the bellagio buffet?

the Mlife website is pretty vague and I've got a few dollars worth that I'd like to waste if theres something worth it out there

Wynn Buffet, Wicked Spoon, or something else for a buffet dinner on the strip?

Can't really go wrong with Wicked Spoon or Wynn (Spoon has more interesting choices). You could try the new one at Caesars Palace too, it's worth checking out.

For those who grind or travel to vegas to grind and stay in hotels, what do you do for food? This summer when I was in town for the wsop I found eating fairly cheap/healthy to be difficult.

Going to Vegas Nov 25-29. Will mainly be playing poker at Aria/Bellagio; maybe Wynn/Venetian.

Choices for hotel:

Flamingo: $10/night
Ballys: $15/night
Monte Carlo: $32/night (after factoring Resort Fee and free gift card)
NYNY: $38/night (after factoring Resort Fee and free gift card)
Paris: $44/night

Should I go with the cheap Flamingo, or upgrade to a nicer hotel?

For $10, stay at Flamingo. Try the $20 trick and get a Go Room!

Log enough hours in and the poker room food is free. otherwise you will have to part with your profit.

Id stick with one of the cheaper two. We choose ballys on our trip, because it was free and good location. but we really do not spend time in the room so does not matter to us about "nice" so if you do not care and just going to use it to get a couple hours sleep a night. dont waste money on nicer one.

I've read the thread here and one elsewhere on the $20 trick. I'm staying at Monte Carlo and it sounds like people have very little success with it there. Can anyone raise my hopes that it can work?
