Hello, looking a good place to make reservations for a group of 8, all guys, bachelor party dinner. Located on The Strip is preferred. The thread is giving me a few good ideas. Any info is appreciated.

We went to Prime for dinner on the 7th. I was impressed by the feel of the place as we walked in. Very nice, but not too over the top for a more casual customer such as myself. As we were headed to our table, the host noticed we were both dressed in black pants and changed the white napkins with dark napkins. I was immediately more concerned. Then we were seated with my wife on the wall side and me in the chair. The chairs with sides are not built for bigger people, and the host said he had armless chairs, but we just traded places. That ended up causing issues later as I could see the fountain show, while my wife stared at the wall behind me. You couldn't see much of the show anyway, we were on the back wall.

The next issue came up when the waiter asked if we had a water preference, and since this was the first time I had been asked this I had a deer in the headlights look, so he said house water, Fiji, Evian, etc., and we said regular water was fine. I wish I had been quicker, I would have said, "frozen, floating in Jack Daniels", but that will have to wait for another time.

For the meal, we each ordered an appetizer, steak, and side dishes. My wife had the bacon wrapped prawns, filet, and the yukon gold mashed potatos, while I ordered the crabcake, peppercorn ny strip, and mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.

The prawn appetizer had three large prawns, cooked perfectly on avocado slices with a nice sauce. The crabcake was a nice sized crab cake served on an apple slaw with pine nuts I believe. Very tasty, and larger than dinner portions of a crab cake that I have had at other restaurants.

Our steaks were cooked exactly as requested, and very delicious. The ny strip I had was as tender as filets I have had at other restaurants, and the small taste of the filet that my wife was willing to share was honestly the first time that I have experienced a steak that literally melts in your mouth. The sauces that were provided were excellent, I tried the peppercorn sauce first and it was good, but the chef's sauce with soy ginger and wine reduction was perfect.

So while we are not the type for fine dining all of the time, we will definitely be including at least one meal at a nice restaurant on future vegas trips. As someone in this thread brought up the comparison of "is this worth 4x the price of Outback?", I would have to say yes, very much so yes.
I've never been to Prime but I've been to Stripsteak in Mandalay Bay. Next time why don't you give that a try? The fiancee and I really loved it.

What would be, if there is one, the best place on the strip that serves both butter poached lobster and filet migon?

Was there an Asian place where Prime is now across from Picasso? Maybe 3-4 years ago?

Nope, it's been Prime since day one, I believe.

When I was there about 10 years ago, it was "only" $200 out the door. And it was worth it - I swear that I can still taste some of the dishes.

Went to Mundo again tonight. I honestly think it's the only restaurant I've been to in this town (seriously, the only one) that I've literally never had a complaint about. Every dish I have ever had there has been phenomenal. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly. Go to Mundo. Now.

Whats so unique about L'ambrosie as compared to other fine dining restaurants is that they only make about 10 dishes + 3 or 4 desserts and these have been on the menu for like 20 years.

But their hits are just an orgy of Truffles and Caviar.

For Example

Yes, a truffle and foie sandwich encased in puff pastry and baked.

Friends treated me and my girlfriend out to dinner at Andre's in tr Monte Carlo this past sunday. Cute restaurant, beautiful decor. Food was nothing to rave about. I just kept thinking to myself how much I wished I was at picasso, or wishing sage or Mina were open.

Edit: did the 7 course. None of the dishes were memorable.

Andre's @ Monte Carlo not recommended.

That will likely be given a try on a future trip. We are planning on going again in April with the kids. I was thinking of going to the steakhouse at the Luxor on that trip, as we can get a comp off of myVegas for $75 I think. I have no expectations that it will be among the best steakhouses, but I do think that it would be better than Outback, and with comps that would cover the kids meals, it would be a nice change from buffet every day.

I was a big fan going back to the La Madonna days, until I had the experience described below at Mundo in May 2012.

In addition to complaining to the server (who did not call on the GM) I went to the trouble of posting it on Mundo's FB, but it still took the GM two months to get back to me with a promise of "making it up to me" if I would come back.

To this day I have chosen to stay away:

"[...] arrived for dinner around 8:40 pm to find a couple of tables busy, and ordered right away.

When our food arrived around 9:20 pm we were the only patrons left, and the staff started straightening up the restaurant and wet mopping the floor around us, while waiters were tallying up their tips for the day at the bar. Odors of bleach and the experience of the cleaning staff working their way around our table left little enjoyment of the flavors and the whole experience - we might as well have gone to Taco Bell or what have you.

We complained to our server, who said she'd "inform the manager", but nobody came to apologize or offer us any other courtesy or compensation for the ruined dining experience.

After we had settled the check, we were left to our own device with nobody caring to walk us to the door or saying goodbye, and we found our way out by ourself."
