44-46

6 pars
7 bogeys
3 double bogeys
1 triple
1 quad

Started off par par par. 4th hole I rely felt pressure off the tee. Was aiming my tee shot, disaster followed. Went quad, bogey, double to finish with a 90. Didn't lose a ball though. Oh well try again.

Yea I go from the back of the boxes. The course I regularly play cuts like 300 yards off the card with where they put the markers. I typically get paired with people not playing those tees so it doesn't pressure them either. One guy I played with last week played the back tees but wouldn't play the back of the boxes with me.

Played a 235 yard par 3 today with a back pin. Absolutely crushed a hybrid to like 15 feet. My playing partners were playing one tee up of me and it was just a 150 yard hole for them, luls. I hadn't played before so when I got to the tee it looked like a driveable par 4 until I saw the 229 tile on the box.

I will say I bet I added about 200 yards to the scorecard 6700 because none of the par3 tiles were at the back edges and they matched the card so I'm guessing the 4s and 5s were the same way.

Welp I played Dr. Jeykle and Mr. Hyde rounds Friday and today.

Dropped an 82 on a 73.5/129 7025 yards. Today a 102 on a 71.3/124 6640 yards.

I don't know if it was the beers letting me swing nice and loose on Friday or being sorta hung over this afternoon.

In either case someone needs to teach me how to play from 90 yards to 3 yards from the green. I might have the worst short game to iron striking ability in history. My putting is really solid now that I've taught myself to keep my head still during and through impact. But if I miss the green from where I can't putt my game just completely falls apart. 2 shots to hit it 525 on a par 5 vs. 4 or more shots to hit it 15 more yards.

(Side note- played with the wife both days....she shot 90 and 94 with no 3 putts either day...FML)

I can be the same way. I've been like 515 out in the fairway in 2 on a 546 par 5 once then probably did about the same to get in the hole.

I was just talking about how important it is to have a stock ~40 yard pitch shot that you feel comfortable hitting from around the green. Greens are what...20 yards deep? Maybe more? So you can usually settle this ball on the green from like 30-50 yards if you aim center of green. I keep my feet pretty close just 2-3 inches apart and choke down 2" on my sand wedge and my backswing only goes to lead arm parallel to ground, then just make sure to hit through it.

But yeah the 45-75 yard range for me kind of blows. If I lay up I try to do it to 80-110 yards out. I have a lob wedge but it's kinda weird taking a full swing with it and I try not to. So I can hit a 3/4 sand wedge or something or a 3/4 lob wedge but I'm not thrilled about any of my options in this range. Once I get to 80 yards I can pretty much hit a full sand wedge or at most choke down a half inch or so and still take a full swing.

Practice, practice, practice. Go pitch somewhere and work on finding comfortable stock shots/distances. Try to keep it simple.

Hackberry Creek, Dallas - 7053 75.7 rating (yowza) and it was blowing 20mph+ all day. Gonna recap the front nine, shot 36-39-75 with a couple doubles which is very unlike me. Still to shoot under the rating from the actual tips with this wind on a course I've never seen before is incredibly encouraging.

Hole 1 - 438 par 4
Cool tee shot over the hazard that runs throughout the area, wind dead back into us and I hit a solid but tee ball leaving me 190 middle (lol) and 199 stick. For some reason the starter didn't notice us and let a single in a pull cart hit from the men's tees at the same time. He kind of rushed us on our second shots and I hit my one non solid full swing shot of the day, a low right hybrid to the back right rough. I again rushed my next shot trying to get out of this guys way and missed a 15 footer for par (+1).

Hole 2 - 429 par 4
Big dogleg left and I hit a very good tee ball on an extremely tight hole. Leaves me 142 to a back pin and now the wind feels behind us. I hit a little 9-iron to about 12 feet right of the hole but cannot convert. (+1).

Hole 3 - 500 par 5
Dogleg right par 5 which should be perfect for my shot shape but I ever so slightly pull one through the dogleg and stuck behind a tree. Pitch out to 140 stick straight uphill but also downwind. Tug a PW a touch and have 20 feet for birdie that's low the whole way (+1).

Hole 4 - 241 par 3
Hole was into and from the left. Smoked a 3wood that ended up just short right of the green. I go for a bump n run instead of putting because I'm trying to improve my chipping/pitching. I had about 60 feet and the ball jumped off the 8 iron and left me 12 feet for par which I happen to make (+1).

Hole 5 - 575 par 5
Hole is playing dead downwind and I roast a tee ball over the left fairway bunker and onto a downslope. Leaves me 225 stick and 195 to cover the hazard in front of the green. Play a 4-iron slightly up in my stance and it never leaves the stick. Tough to tell how close it is but when we get up there it's about 4 feet. I hit a good putt and make eagle (-1).

Hole 6 - 382 par 4
Dogleg left with the 2nd shot playing at least 20 yards uphill. Hit a good 3wood to the right side of the fairway and have 115 to a front pin. Hit a good wedge that ends up about 12 feet right of the hole. Unfortunately I cannot convert that one (-1).

Hole 7 - 455 par 4
#1 handicap and it's playing dead into the wind. Hit a really good tee shot but I still have 200 middle and 211 to a back pin. Hit a really good hybrid that actually turns over a touch instead of fading and I'm a couple paces off the green but only 25 feet away. Hit a good chip shot that looks in the entire way and falls for birdie (-2).

Hole 8 - 165 par 3
Wind is going dead left to right and I hit what I think is a solid 8i only to see the ball turning 90deg in the air. Ends up in a swale to the right short sided but I still don't hit a green shot and leave it on the fringe. From there all I have is lob wedge but need to hit a bump n run, leave that one 6 feet short and over-read the putt, make double (E).

Hole 9 - 440 par 4
Another tough hole into the wind and left to right a touch. Hit a good tee ball that leaves me 170 stick to more of a straight left to right wind. Hit a great 6i that I must have turned over slightly because the wind just crushes it and it ends up on the front fringe. I took 9i but should have grabbed PW, chip grazes the lip and ends up about 4 feet by, but I make the comebacker for par (E).

Back nine had a bogey and a double and nothing else. Really good golf course, the most challenging I have played in Dallas by far, that includes about 10 courses.

36-46-82. 2 birdies, 1 double, 1 triple.

I think. Never did see the card. Another good start, birdies on 2 and 4. Not as sharp after about six holes. Actually had a sh***, first of the season. Also almost holed a long bunker shot. Never a dull moment...

83/84 this weekend. In the 83 I birdied back to back par 5s and almost birdied the last par 5 too.

Lulz eerily similar to my round. 82 two doubles one triple two birdies and I Sherman tanked easy wedge into the hazard....

I loved the track it was tough but fair. I played like absolute crap but still enjoyed the round. For 89$ with a cart on a Sunday morning it's tough to beat it. The greens were in great shape and the pace of play was awsome we didn't have to wait all day which was a huge bonus. All in all I'd definetly do it again and recommend it

33-33-66. 7 birdies and 1 bogey.

This was my best round by 6 shots. just an unreal feeling to final break par and 70.

the only bogey was on the 2nd hole where I had 200 yards left for my 2nd on a par 5. go figure.

Won a match play match yesterday in 20 holes. I flagged one from 165 on 18 for a conceded 3 to extend the match.

Just a question out of curiosity, not as a rules nit: do you post scores when you play from the tips (meaning, as far back as you can go)?

Pretty much the only time I post a score, although that is probably biased since the last time I didnt play the tips was in a golf outing.

Nah I post scores from whatever tees I played

I just like playing the full golf course, especially one I'll only get to play once.

Shot 88 today which is really good for me. Shot 41 on the back which is mega ultra elite for me. Nothing > 5 on the back. Got a 50 degree wedge recently and its made a huge difference

X posting from the Strokes Gained Putting thread

Since there are a lot of people in here posting scores and rounds on a day to day basis I figured I would x-post this little website I threw together that allows you to breakdown every shot from your latest round using the revolutionary strokes gained method.

It will break your game down into 4 main categories(Tee shots, Approach Shots, Short Game, Putting) and let you know your strengths and weaknesses. It's measuring you vs an average Tour player so keep that in mind and work on the areas that are giving you the most issues.

www.strokesgainedcalc.com

Most discussion regarding the website will probably take place in this thread http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/93...lator-1404299/ if anyone has questions or what not.

Enjoy

Again, with the caveat I'm not a rules nit who doesn't care what you do, aside from being an illegal score (without the 2-stroke penalty per hole), isn't that a form of sandbagging?

been playing a whole lot this summer (just started playing like 3 years ago, didnt play much last summer)... broke 100 for the 2nd and 3rd time with a 95 and 92 this week and last. today i had a 45 on the front and was playing well on the back (including a chipped in birdie from 20 yards!) when the absolute downpour and lightning craziness started on #17.

golf is a lot more fun when you have some semblance of an idea where the ball is going, eh?

one thing that has been driving me nuts, but i guess is maybe standard when you're a 20-25 handicap (?), is that different parts of my game are good one day and absolute trash the next. like, yesterday i couldn't chip or pitch for my life but today i crushed it... yesterday i putted well and today i wasn't remotely close.

i kinda wish i could just suck at one thing consistently and work on it! that being said, if i have "good days" from the tee, approach shots, short game and putting, i can play very well by my standards. fortunately i haven't had many days this season where all the "bad days" connect!

I feel the biggest thing to work on is striking the ball clean and consistent (when starting out). Every other weakness becomes easier to target after that.

What works for me:
Once you've picked the right club, done your pre-shot routine and have addressed the ball the way you feel you're supposed to and are finally just looking down on the ball - just trust yourself (don't doubt anything else at that point), and just concentrate on hitting the ball pure. That's it.

It's easier to find (and correctly target and diagnose) flaws once you're consistently hitting the ball pure, imo.

So, never broken 80. Played a 6485 yd par 72 course with a bit of altitude. Had a putt for 79 on 18 that broke hard left at the end and it went low by a couple of inches. **** me. Also paid the replay rate and shot 45-48.

34-37=71 (+1) 71.7 rating par 70

Cedar Crest Golf Club in the heart of the ghetto in Dallas. Place hosted the 1927 PGA Championship. Has 6 par 3's, hit 5i on 5 of them, really goofy in that regard but also has some incredible holes. Was pretty drunk by the 8th hole so I'll take it.
