I've been practicing my putting with my eyes close to work on my stroke (read this helps and it has def helped me) so I said screw it today and played my whole round at torrey south putting with my eyes closed. Tied my fewest putts ever with 30 and got up and down 5 times, so I guess I'm gonna stick with that until I can put as nice a stroke on it with my eyes open (separate thread for my psychological problems needed imo)
43-43=86, happy with that with only 5 GIRs. Front 9 was very strange I made a birdie, a bunch of pars, and two triples, back was more boring

41 (par 35). Scrambled like crazy, really didn't hit many good shots.

Did manage to do something I haven't done in a while. Hit to about 20 feet on a par 3. Had brain lock on the putt and hit it WAY too hard. It tracked right for the hole - dead center in fact - and passed right over it like the hole wasn't even there. Usually the ball would hit the back of the cup or something - this one didn't even wobble.

Yeah, I missed the 10 footer coming back.

Played 9 today and it was not, shall we say, low variance. 45 with 2 birdies. Oof. I think every really bad shot (and there were only about 3 but those lead to extra shots, ldo) was the result of me standing over the ball and having some thought like "I should move that loose twig" and then saying to myself "nah, you're good, go ahead" and then boom, mis****. Gotta be committed to each shot and I didn't and every time I paid for it.

Shot 104 at Reserva Conchal in Costa Rica today (beat, but just because I suck not because this was a particularly bad score).

Private course you can only play if you're staying in the villas, so I finished in under 3 hours as a single and never saw another player the whole time (brag).

Drink cart girl stunning and bored because there was no one else playing and came to see me every 3 holes but I'm married (variance).

47 on a new for me par 36 after a rain.

Nothing special nothing terrible. Putting on the wet was a problem and probably cost 3-4 strokes. Hit every iron cleanly, but half the time seemed to add an *additional* 10-15 yards on top of my new better distances. On a par 3 165, went with a 7i to get an uphill putt, and skyed it past to leave a 30 foot downhill putt!

Oh, and probably lost two strokes on one trip into the sand. Going for <90 this weekend!

I said she was bored, not crazy. To overcome the difference in our relative attractiveness making her willing to try a one afternoon stand would require substantial increases in my net worth.

Btw, I shot 112 today in the morning, and got rainhorned in after 12 (sitting at 74) in the afternoon - afternoon was disappointing as I was +3 after four holes then started making donations into some lakes. Again, didn't see another player all day.

102; shot a 91 on same course a week ago

Was 2 over through 5 and then posted a 9 on 6, later followed with a 10 and 2 triple bogeys. Totally Forgot how to chip; I was right of the green less than 50 ft from the pin laying 2 on the hole I posted a 10, 3 sand shots, 3 chips and a 2 putts later (no penalties) we have a 10. 30 total putts helped (although I did have 2 3 putts in the mix).

sometimes it gets that way when you only touch the sticks once every week or so...

Shot a 72, par. 36 36 with 3 bogeys and 3 birdies. Made one three putt and two chip two putts. Pretty dissatisfied, should've been under par.

79....maybe best round of the year. 10/14 fairways 10/18 greens. No trouble at all. only one hooked drive and 3 bad chipshots. putting feels really good. I'm forward pressing just a littlebit and it has taken almost all anxiety out over short putters and helps my rhythm a ton.

12: 175 yard par 3. Hit it good, barely caught bunker short. Bunker totally wet in casual water, hit a great shot to 7 feet. putt hits hole, tap in bogey.
13: 450 yard par 4. bad low hook driver, 90 degree dogleg, so no shot to green. pitch out through fairway, hit pwedge right of green in fluffy/thick lie. Fluffy chip to 25 fee. make for bogey.
14: 388 yard par 4. Driver down the middle to 115. pwedge 15 feet. leave on edge tap in par.
15: 225 par 3. 5 wood pin high right. chip to 5 feet. putt totally goes over hole, tap in bogey.
16: 315 yard par 4. Driver to 60 yards. 58 degree barely carries slope, 10 feet right of pin. putt hits hole, tap in par.
17: 550 par 5. Driver a little left first cut of rough. Crappy elbow pain 3 iron to 120 and terrible wet thick ligh. Hit a damn good full 8 iron to 8 feet, lipout, tap in par.
18: 350 yard uphill par 4. Crappydriver right, 120 left. full 8 iron like 5 feet right, perfect shot in bad spot. In the bunker, shortsided...awesome. Comes out perfect, tap in par. +4 , 40.

1: 437 par 4. Drive down middle, crappy 6 iron chunkhooked, has an amazing bounce and ends up 6 feet away from hole. Putt hits hole, tap in par.
2: 460 par 4. Drive left to 200. 5 wood doesn't hook, ends up in worst spot ever shortsided in bunker hit amazing sand shot that spins back(!) and i have 20 feet for par. putt hits hole, tap in bogey.
3: 215 par 3. 5 wood right onto hill. terrible lie in thick rough. hit underneath ball and chip goes 5 yards, do it again chip goes to 20 feet, 2 putt doublebogey.
4: 400 yard par 4. Killed driver down middle, 6 iron from 160 to 35 feet. perfect lag putt tap in par.
5: 430 par 4. kill drive to 170 down middle. awesome 5 iron to 30 feet. leave putt terribly short, and hit terrible 5 footer, 3 putt bogey.
6: 672 yard par 5. kill drive, no roll, so way back. hit good 3 wood around dogleg, doesn't clear rough ditch, has "worst lie ever" one arm elbow pain swinged it up the fairway, hit terrible pulled lobwedge left of green, awesome flop/cip thing to a foot, tap in bogey.
7: 156 yard par 3. At this point, I am +9 and need to par out for an 80. 7 iron from 156 to 2 feet, birdie.
8: 370 yard par 4. Kill drive down middle, really nice pwedge to back of green 8 feet. hit hole, no mas. tap in par.
9: 381 par 4 all uphill. Kill drive down middle. 8 iron from 136 to 8 feet, leave putt an inch short. tap in for a +8 79. Clutch last 3 holes imo.

Shot a -2, 70 today. With three birdies and one bogey. Satisfied with my steady game and how it turned out, won the tournament and a $450 jacket and another winter jacket worth $350 for the lowest score in the field.

I played pretty steadily, only used my driver two times, both of which I faded/sliced pretty hard to the right. On seventeenth, a 450 yards par 5, I slice to the right straight into the woods, suddenly the ball just bounce out in the middle of the fairway, pretty lucky Have 190 yards left but I miss my iron five a bit to the left of the green and chip two putt for par. Besides that I had pretty many boring holes with iron from tee wedge in and two putt. Boring but good game!

Championsship was won at 158, so maybe next year...

37-36/73...career day for me. Hit two bad shots the entire day and followed them up with great shots that limited them to bogeys. Par is 34 on the front and 37 on the back, with the back being the tougher nine for sure, so was very happy to shoot 1 under on the back. It was only the second time Ive played nine holes under par.

Great off the tee, very solid long-mid irons and dialed in with my wedges. Putted pretty well, although I did miss two birdie putts inside 10 feet that were makeable. This was my 70th round of the season and Ive dropped from a 12 to an 8 gross handicap. Putting inside 10 feet, and wedges inside 100 yards have been the things Ive improved on most this season. Ive made more birdies this season than I had my entire golf career prior (6 years) and basically doubled my rounds played.

The toughest part is managing expectations now...It is still very easy for me to make double bogeys, so sometimes I really have to fight off the thoughts of rounds being done after I am +6 or so. When I say done, I just mean in my head in terms of that being "the day". The weird part is that now that I am somewhat close to par, it is hard to get too excited about finishing 2 over....last season I shot a 72 (+2) and was walking on air for a week. This was by far my best round all things considered, yet I just didnt have the same sense of happiness or accomplishment. I think this is the thought process that has helped me continue to get better and shoot lower scores, but it has also taken some of the joy out of it.

83 par 72 pasaconaway, 3 birdies, so guess how rest of day went lol. 79 atkinson country club my first sub 80 round of the year. Par72. Driver had me in good spots for first time in a while.

Usually a high mid 80s par 72, very happy with past few rounds. Alot of work to do. As this is only my third year. And first real year of 20+ rounds im hoping much more to come

This is such a weird thing, that is evident in me and my normal playing partner too. Being a 4-5 hdc player, expectations should be modest, but esp the part about knowing that "hey I´ll make a double or two later and **** things up" just makes every missed opportunity a letdown.

I find myself hit a iron into the green and immidiatly know I have missed the pin left, with a kind of "asfasfsa" attitude. But I still have a 15 footer for birdie, which should be above expectations for the hdc. Probably too much negative attitude, but it is based on experience, and not bad temper. Might have something to do with horrible short game too, what do I know

42-41-83 yesterday, 45-45-90 today.

My ball striking has gone from a strength to just plain ****ing terrible. Today I couldn't buy a putt either. Awful.

How often do you play Booker?

Played my first real 18 in a couple weeks. Played 2 other scrambles.

Had a great front with 1 birdie, 2 bogey and 1 double. Finished with 39.

Back nine I was playing even with 3 left and went bogey, triple, double to shoot 42. 81 is my lowest score of the year but felt the wheels come off at the end. Overall felt like I hit the ball well today and was okay around the greens with a few good chips and 1 three putt.

9 on Tuesdays, 18 on Saturdays and Sundays. Often 9 on Fridays, 18 if I'm in an event. 18 on holidays. I'd say I average 54 holes a week.

Glad I skipped this past Friday, after playing 3 days in a row I'm hurting a little. Getting old sucks.

I picked up new irons (Ap2s) yesterday and was pretty eager to play with them. I had a great range session and was feeling good, but I didn't quite play as good as I would have liked. My short game was dialed in, but I couldn't hit a fairway to save my life. Hit a tonne of hooks too. The good news is, the irons felt very very sweet and I can't wait to play with them again Thursday.
