With irons and hybrids, the only number that means anything is carry. Always mention if you are at altitude and never factor roll into your numbers.

230ish

I apparently am in for an interesting summer. Played a scramble with a group of guys who have been members for 5 years plus each last night and not one hole had a consensus on how it would break. We apparently have tough greens.

Internet yardages itt. I hit my 4 hybrid about 210, or about 10-12 yards further than my 4 iron.

Also, post all scores. Not posting the bad ones defeats the purpose of the handicap system, and like BO said, it's not going to count anyway.

Has anyone done a Bandon Dunes trip (#1 resort in the country now)?

Looking to get something set up this year and just wanted to get some thoughts if anyone's been there. They don't list actual pricing/packages online, so if you have any tips regarding getting a good package set up that'd be appreciated too.

Only bad thing I've heard about Bandon is it's proximity (or lack thereof) to an airport.

Otherwise, the course, facilities, and experience are supposed to be top-notch.

2 questions for you guys..

Anyone purchase the iPing app and attach it to your putter?... Seems like a fun thing to mess around with in your room to judge face angle and such on contact.

Also..Just bought a Rocketballz driver and I'm still not very satisfied with my distance.

I'm 26, athletic and swing pretty fast..but I'm constantly changing my swing, would you guys recommend me getting a new shaft?

I hit it pretty high, and even changed my Rocketballz loft to 8 and still hit it pretty high, it goes about 250 but has no forward roll

What shaft is on it currently, stock stiff?

250 in the air is a long way. Def top 5% (probably top 1%) of all players.

Not sure everyone follows the LPGA thread so thought I'd post here too:

Caddied in the Pro-Am today. Played with Se Ri Pak front nine and IL Hee Lee back nine.

They were awesome and incredibly nice. Especially Se Ri, who walked up to me and introduced herself before I could even walk up to her.

Course was meh imo, some forced layups. Greens were pretty nice, but rest of course condition was nothing spectacular.

18 seemed like a good risk/reward par 5 to finish though.

Creamer teed off on 1 when we were on 10. Almost literally walked into Natalie. Also saw Inbee, Choi, and Shadoff. Hard to recognize/check out anyone as it was 40 degrees, cloudy, and windy this morning so everyone was bundled up.

quality golf, Scotland in the U.S. and that is a quote from a Scot I played with. Every serious player should play here at least once in their lifetime. and then they will be back, multiple times.

i have been to Bandon three times. for me its a seven hour drive North.

Summer cost way more money, and the courses are harder, more wind and rough.
Winter ( when I play) 1/2 the price or or lower. I go with a group, package and we paid 1000 dollars for all four courses ( plus the par-3 course) with lodging 3 breakfasts, 3 dinners.
advantages, price, conditions, ( shorter rough). less people.
disadvantages ( could rain hard, still the courses drain well and are playable, but sereriously I've never NOT played even with a couple of really wet days because the course/coast is THAT spectacular.

pro-tip- easy money in the "pit" at night if you are a decent poker player. I played cash games and tourneys every year and cleaned up playing ABC poker against drunk, happy fish. Just smile and 3-bet, and raise your premium hands someone always calls. If you are lucky you will get against some agro kid who THINKs he knows poker, but he plays A rags out of positions so there you go.

once you check in, use the shuttle. its free and goes EVERYWHERE.

driving range and free shorties par-3 course are great. take advantage.

the new preserve 3-par course is worth the cost, great views and 14 holes of fun.

if you have to skip a course it would be Trails.

Pacific Dunes has the most holes on the water and is very nice great views tight with lots of up and down.
Bandon Dunes has less holes on the coast and is more fair.
Old MacDonald is away from the coast but is very enjoyable, huge fairways and greens, best shot for a good round.
Trails, a really weird Crenshaw course that IMHO has too many tricky holes. its fun, but if you are hitting it bad, NO CHANCE.
all courses you should consider using putter from NOT KIDDING 100 YARDS AND IN. most every hole is open in front and the ground is the best way to get it close, lots of weird slopes.

Caddies are about 100 bucks a round with tip. I took one the first two years but once I knew the courses didn't care. They help a lot with the greens.

You have to walk unless you have a serious disability. ( must be arranged while booking)

GO,GO,GO,GO.

Food is good, not too pricey.

I got wood just thinking about it. love that place, it's pure golf.

What's the pit?

Is there just a regular poker game that runs on-site or is there a nearby casino that I'm unaware of?

pit is the cigar room at the main lodge. they have house chips, players run their own games.

there is a casino 20 miles or so away in Coos bay. never been there.

most cash games were 40-100 buy-in NLHE 1/2.

I played in a 9 players tourney 100 dollar buy-in winner take all. ( I won the second one). dude wanted to chop up after we were heads up. he was a serious donk so I played it out and sent him home with my A4 vs. his AK. flop A25 I turned the wheel, raised and he shoved. inst call. I raised the entire time, he never re-raised, just called until the turn.

He complained that i played bad cards. sure donkey, sure.

lol @ shoving with AK on an A235 board.

How many tables do they run? That sound absolutely awesome to smoke a fat cigar and steal money from rich guys who don't care then play golf all day. I mean a whore is the only other thing you need.

It is not an official casino.

Lots of guys come in on group packages. So you'll have like 24 guys from Portland, and 18 guys from say Sacramento. A lot of these groups will start poker games in the cigar bar. ( pool and darts also). I sat around bought a few drinks and joined games. Like you said most of the players were drunk and not very good players, plus they didn't care if they lost money. I busted a guy out three times and took 580 dollars from him in three hours. I have KK he calls with A rags prep-flop all-in. I hold AQ flop AQx he raises I re-raise he shoves and tables AK. LOL it was like that all night long.

Yeah that sounds incredible. You can pay for most of your trip. I bet that guy referred to you as "boy" a lot. "Bwoy, you better stop playin' 'nem bad cards bwoy. Imma bust you, son."

I guess it's a private game so you have to ingratiate yourself somewhat tactfully. If people in a private game are losing hundreds to you, they at least want to like you or enjoy your company otherwise.

lotta Wow did I get lucky! from me.

yep very juicy. another LOL's was a guy calling my all-in on a four flush board. I had the nut A. he had like 8,4. he claimed it was his pot because he had six clubs. LOL almost half the table agreed with him....fortunately the leader of that tribe was a decent player and sighed and shoved the pot over to me, and had to defend his actions for like the next hour.
