Is there any reason I would have trouble with my hybrids hooking and not my other clubs? I used to have a bit of a swing from the top and my hybrids were my best clubs. I read Hogan's book and tried to build my swing with starting my downswing with my hips, the results have been good for my short and mid irons (hitting some draws and some more or less straight), and my woods (pretty straightish maybe a bit right of where I am aiming, a few draws) but I can barely play my hybrids anymore because I always hit a massive hood. They are Callaway Diablo Edge Hybrids with R-flex shafts that say H-60G (not sure what that is, 60 grams?). Never had my swing speed measured but it is probably really slow.

I'd look for something with a heavier shaft. What kind of shafts are in your irons, graphite or steel? I've only played 3 hybrids, 2 have 100g shafts, and the 3rd was only 75g and I couldn't not hook it off the face of the planet. I've hit the other 2 just as straight as a 2 iron.

Also some hybrids are hook faced.

Yeah a heavier, stiffer shaft would help.

Maybe get one you can adjust to open too. Or a "tour/pro" version. Love my adams a12 pro.

Hybrids usually feature quite a bit of offset. If you can, you might want to compare ball flight of your current hybrid with one that doesnt have offset, before investing in a new shaft.

Thanks for your answers guys. I will try and demo a club with less offset and a heavier shaft too. Are the tour hybrids less forgiving, or since they are still hybrids are they pretty easy to hit?

Generally it'll get harder to elevate the golf ball the closer you get to a tour model (They focus more on workability and shot making than aiding the ball airborne). But even a tour hybrid will be easier than hitting the iron equivalent.

i have a similar issue, golfdoc made a post about hybrids often having a more upright lie angle than irons which could be part of the problem. i have my irons bent 2* flat and my standard ball flight is straightish or a fade with them, my hybrid is off the rack and i hit a draw/big hook with it most of the time. i should bring it in to get bent a couple degrees flat and compare the ball flight. i also hit a draw/big hook with my driver so maybe its just my swing with long clubs versus shorter ones.

F-U Titleist. The weights from my 8 year old R7 fit in any/all the TM drivers and even a Spider putter but the weight kit I got a year ago for my 910 is a no go for the 913? WTF!

that blows. i was thinking of getting those weights for my 910 also. what have been your results with those weights? have they become useful? did you end up switching the originals with either a heavier or lighter wieght? and if so what is your clubhead speed/driver distance?

and last question if you dont mind. i messed around and unscrewed the weight on my driver with the wrench tool. however unlike the shaft screw that makes a clicking sound when screwed tight, the weight screw just screwed on like a normal screw. i didnt want to screw down any harder to see if it made such click because it felt like it would snap. is that normal?

thx

i dont see how you can bend a hybrid. forged irons can be bent but hybrid lies cannot. unless they are adjustable like the titliest brand.

I've played one round in 4 weeks and been to the range once, but thankfully we are getting a little bit of an indian summer this weekend so I get one more kick at it. Can't wait!

Pretty sure ship's coach made the new top 100 list. Chris Como, right?

Mike Bennett and Andy Plummer (the S&T guys) did too.

Killing time waiting for my 9:00 tee time ... c'mon already.

Got my True Senseis. Comfortable yes, not a big fan of the look. I like the Tours and Stealths better. Probably won't try them on course until summer.

What's everyone's opinion on this?

Have some coupons to some places, some even good on weekends after 12. But they say excluding holidays.

Is the entire thanksgiving weekend considered holiday, or just Friday?

Sick avatar.. I'd just call the place. I'd bet they'd let you use the coupons all 4 days.

On a similar note, I won a foursome to a local course during a charity fundraiser tournament this weekend. It's only good for June-September 2013. Lol.

I'm well aware that this is the money making season in FL, but just don't donate if you are going to put restrictions like that on it.

Does anyone play the titleist ap2 or ping i20?

I'm in the market for a new set of irons so I tried out a few clubs at golf town. I liked the feel of the ap2s but getting a feel for trajectory on those monitors is pretty tough. They didn't have any lefty i20s for me to hit so the guy who worked there gave me a s56 to try. It was noticeably less forgiving (though not bad considering I wasn't swinging all that well) but a bit more workable.

I'm quickly realizing that shopping for clubs at the end of the season is going to make this a loooonng winter.

I went from R7 shovels to AP2s last year. At first I was a little intimidated by the AP2s as I had only ever played bigger cavity back game improvement clubs. However, since I got accustomed to the clubs and my golf game improved it has been a perfect romance. When I originally bought them they had KBS C-taper shafts in them, and with my swing the trajectory was WAY too low.. however, last year I moved to KBS Tour Stiff shafts in them and it is the perfect combo for me. I get a very nice trajectory on my ball flight and the perfect amount of spin. They are also more forgiving than they look; mis-hits aren't too bad.

I have a friend (2 handicap) who changes clubs like most people change underwear, and he went from AP2s to I20s this year and swears he will never look for another set of irons for the rest of his life. I haven't tried them, but they do look very nice at address.
