72 holes of stroke play, just like a regular tournament.

Yeah, we usually ended up playing Indian Ridge. Not as good a course but usually there were a lot less people out there so it was always a quicker round.

Just ordered my new driver...Ping I20 with the UST Mamiya Proforce Silver 7x. It came down to this and the Ping G20. A little apprehensive as the G20 was just so forgiving but the I20 was longer on pured shots and just looked and felt better.

I am leaning toward the Scottsdale/Phoenix area right now. And fwiw Socal is out.
Same questions for April. More of a drinking vacation with a few rounds of golf as most in the group are average at best. We are between Myrtle and Fort Lauderdale. Anyone have any strong opinions one way or the other?

Tons of options around you imo.

I'm doing a trip in late March that we did last year too, near Columbia SC. Nightlife is fine with USC campus there.

We played Golf Course of South Carolina + Cobblestone Golf Course which are like 10 min from each other.

Next day we played at the Clemson course and the Furman course. Obv nightlife is pretty good around campuses and the courses are solid.

Teed off today in the rain. Midway through the rain turned to snow, and then by the 17th hole the sun came out.

Pro V has a newer "upgraded" version each year. Nothing near as game-changer as the inception of the Pro-V but supposedly there are subtle improvements.

Every odd year they change the ProV, every even year they change the other balls in their line.
This year's new stuff: new NXT Tour, NXT Tour s, Velocity, DT.
NXT Tour s and DT available in yellow. Velocity available in double #s.

I read an article that said the ProV would never be offered in yellow (they couldn't make the cover with yellow),
and that they already had next year's ProV ready, and 2015 ProV close to finalized.

Any idea what the 2013 version will have?

Too bad pre-2011 ones aren't cheaper...

No idea. My guess is "longer, more durable cover. More spin on irons, less on driver"

Be on the look out from Mar.15th - Apr. 15th for ProV promotion-

Buy 3 dz., get 1 dz. free.

Get Free personalization, or for $5 more, get custom double #s (00, 10-99)

(cannot get personalized and double #s)

I recently came into a set of MacGregor VIP Blades (2010) with KBS tour shafts in them.

At first I wanted to sell them cause I dont think Im ready to play with a set of blades, but now I am curious as to whether I should just keep them and put the shafts into a better fitting club.

Is this possible? Forgive my ignorance, I have no clue when it comes to this stuff.

Can you just buy heads? I have done thorough google and EBay searching but have not found any thing consistent. Some Ping Eye 2 heads here and there, and some other really expensive protos off of the Tour Vans.

Is it even worth it for me to do this? I am an 8 and will play with stiff shafts, but not sure if it is cost effective, or even makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

So the Rory McIlroy wikipedia page notes that he uses an interlocking grip and calls it a "somewhat rare method." WTF!?!?!?! I don't know anyone who DOESN'T use an interlocking grip.

I've heard that the interlocking grip is rare from other sources as well... maybe in the 70s it was rare but not anymore.

The overlap grip is still the most popular though I assume.

Overlap is by far the most popular. I only know a couple of players that interlock, and the group of Tour players that do it is relatively small, although it includes Tiger.

Among my closest golf friends, I'm the only one that uses overlapping.

Other friend plays D1 at a top 20 school and his whole team uses interlocking

Interlocking grip is elite.

I started out with overlap but somehow it hurt my little finger... I was probably pressing it too hard down trying to somehow grip the shaft through my left hand finger or something.

Switched to interlock and now I can slice it deep into the forest with no pain in my finger! Progress!

most of the people i play with use interlock, seems to be rare on tour though

Last edited by CheckRaise; 03-07-2012 at 12:20 AM. Reason: overlap for life
