think they only use a couple holes per round for the driving distance stat, i'm guessing they try to select holes were people are most likely to hit driver and ones that are positioned opposite of each other to minimize the impact of wind

shotlink tracks distance for every ball hit hit by each player so there is a large sample available for distance but idk if that data is available to the public

Shotlink doesn't do those stats. Those are from a Trackman they set up on one hole per event. I assume the reason the rounds are different from the total attempts number is that sometimes Trackman doesn't pick up all the data. So they just make averages from the data they have from complete swings.

I had an R7 Superquad on an Aldila NVS shaft. I bought an R9 Superdeep club head and brought it to Golf Town to swap the heads.

They are telling me they lack the adapter to get this done. I tried googling a bit but it's pretty confusing. Am I screwed into buying a new shaft or is there a way around this?

If the shaft didn't come with an R9 shaft sleeve or the sleeve it came with is the wrong size you just need to order the correct sleeve online. All R9 sleeves are the same design, they just come in .335 and .350 shaft size I believe. Should be about 10-15 bucks.

Edit: Looks like you can no longer buy them from the website that had them, looks like you're going to have to go with EBay, and it will probably be more like 20-30 bucks.

Thanks. Ya it looks like the dirtbag guy sold me the head had bought the entire club and took the shaft/sleeve for himself.

Should have just bought retail, eBay is such a pain in the ass for newbies.

My clubs, irons especially, need a regripping like crazy. It's a good thing I don't sweat much otherwise these things would fly right out of my hands each swing.

To the point, my set of irons are Wilson Staff's, with the "fat" shafts. Would be my first time regripping them. These won't provide any issues with applying the standard Golf Pride/Winn/etc. grips because of the shaft, will they? Also is it standard to throw the same grips on woods as well?

Have you ever washed your grips? If not, try washing them with dish soap and hot water, and they will be a lot better.

I have only regripped clubs a couple of times, but make sure the inner diameter of the grip you are buying matches the shaft diameter. I don't really know what size the "fat shafts" are but find out and buy grips accordingly. You can use the same grips on woods too. Just be sure that you are very careful when cutting the old grip off of clubs that have graphite shafts as you can easily damage the shaft if you just tear into them with a knife with reckless abandon.

should double check but i used to play fat shafts (never re-gripped them though) and i believe they have a .60" butt diameter which is a very common shaft/grip size, the fat part comes from a much wider tip than your standard iron shaft

Washed them a few days ago once I noticed they were really bad and it didn't help much. FWIW I've played with these for 2 seasons now without regripping which from what I've read on here is overdue for new grips.

0.60" is probably right, given that at the bottom of the grip it's 0.50". can't find butt diameter on any spec sheets online, just tip diameters (which is 0.45").

Been 5 years since I've regripped most of my irons. Only ones that got done were ones I've broken. On accident.

Had numerous lolGolf moments today:

A perfectly struck drive that I figured to be right in the middle of the fairway in a good spot yet there was a 3 foot wide water hazard cutting through the middle of the fairway and I am a foot over it meaning I hit right before it and managed to bounce right over it.
A ~30foot 1putt to save a triple
A beautiful 8i from ~150 to within 10feet after 3 godawful shots to start followed by a 2putt
A 270yd Drive right down the pipe, followed by a 210 yd 4i leaving me 60yds on a par 5 in which the ball was sitting "too perfectly" and I sweep right under the ball with my AW only advancing it 30yds but short of a little water hazard creek then pitch on 2 putt of a bogey

My ball striking was infinitely better and I attribute it to this forum in strictly reading the swing threads and realizing I was not standing shoulders up chest out so I was widely inconsistent on my swing plane and while I was not perfect it was much more consistent. I still feel hunched over a bit so getting my clubs lengthened should eliminate that.

OK I'm having trouble finding a post from a few weeks ago. I can't remember if it was DaGolfDoc or someone talking about the drill they had learned from him. It was a youtube vid of a drill where you choke up on the grip and try to strike the ball with the butt of the grip.

Edit: Could also use any other drills/tips for keeping my hands in front of the club through impact.

i'm invited to wedding out in plainview NY this summer, which is apparently right next to bethpage. I'm tempted to take my clubs and try to play a couple of the courses. What are people's experience with bethpage like?

Reading the NY state park website, this seems like such a huge PITA to register/reserve tee times.

I think someone posted recently that play was down and that it was more possible to get on the courses, even the Black. I think that review also said the Red was worth playing. Maybe the post was in the What'd You Shoot Today? thread.

My past experience is that once you go Black you never go back. It's not worth the hype and it's more about the fun in the parking lot the night before. Well, I can do that with my friends without paying 80 bucks to walk up and down the hills of a relatively generic (hilly but difficult) golf course on zero sleep and a hangover.

I'm sure my opinion will not be a favorable one, but it's my opinion.
