Even this didn't make me upset (I like playing with people, although it wasn't my expectation), and it never crossed my mind that they might HAVE to (or not have to) let me play through, just a bit flummoxed because it was far from what I expected. And I did kind of expect them to wave me through from a courtesy perspective since they were doing more than "going about their business." When I started on #10 they had already hit their tee shots, and one of the guys was legit giving the other one a swing lesson for the entire time I played a hole (albeit a par 3) and took a few extra practice putts.
If you both went off on #10, then they should have let you through. No different than if you both went off #1. Had they started on #1, they could have fornicated in the fairway and not been required by etiquette or anything to let you through. Of course that doesn't mean they can't choose to if they wish.

I've never agreed with the single rule, thankfully you don't see that at very many courses any more. Going off as a single can be tough and dealing with them as a foursome can be tough as well. If a single is behind you as a foursome and waiting on every shot, if your group is waiting as well, then there's no reason to let them through but it's still uncomfortable at times. But I've always said a single should be treated as any other number of players in a group.

At my club there's the occasional single that tees off at 1145 on weekends, not really sure what they expect at that time. But it shouldn't be to buzz around in less than 3 hours.

I played as a single a few weeks ago behind a foursome (and plenty of groups ahead of them). I made it a point to never even get near the group in front of me as to not rush them. After every shot I would just sit there and wait, or hit a few more balls, until they were plenty clear and I could drive up.

I do that as well, it sometimes comes up when I'm playing in the late evening. The problem is when someone is behind me and plays up my butt.

Anyone ever play in a "superball" event? It's the opening day practice round event for an upcoming member/guest I'm in. A had to do a lot of googling to figure it out:

Par 3s - Play your own ball
Par 4s - Both players tee off, take best drive and both player their own ball the rest of the way.
Par 5s - Play scramble for first 2 shots, then play your own ball rest of the way.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Much better than a straight scramble or a best ball.

Caught this absolute worldy drive out of nowhere earlier on today. Usually carry my driver 260-280y, playing up behind some guys who were at a tree to the right of the fairway around 300y. It rifled over them, had to give a little sheepish sorry boys at the next tee, but was doing cartwheels inside.

Jesus, sl8a, nice drive.

Played as a solo today and am kind of regretting going. I planned on walking 9 so really didn't care what the pace of play was. I was behind a SLOW 4-some but I did my usual hanging back/don't pressure them deal. There were plenty of open holes in front of them but again, I'm playing 9, I don't care.

And then the field starts to catch me. I'm on 6 tee and these two "bros" race up to me in their cart and ask if they can join me. bold. i say yes. they instantly start complaining about how slow the group in front of me is. we're then on 7 tee and the group in front is taking their time on the hole. The guys that joined me are jumping up and down and waving their arms to get the people to let us play through. Idiots. I say "hey, you guys could skip this hole and probably save at least an hour on your day." they say that's a great idea and thank me over and over and speed off. Absolute *******s.

And then the 2-some behind us catches me and I play the next 3 holes with them which was fine.

Been looking at simulator builds on a couple different sites lately, probably a good thing that I don't have the right space or $10k lying around right at the moment. If I ever make another move I'm definitely going to need an extra garage stall or a big room with a high ceiling.

I've mentioned this before, but my course bought a trackman and will be building a "studio" for it for fittings, lessons, and simulation. Supposedly going to be balled out with couches and chairs and stuff, and they don't intend on charging for any of it, even lessons. I'm a little worried about how difficult it's going to be to book it, but overall it's a great amenity for an Oregon coast golf course.

Seems to be a pretty solid trend around here. A country club I looked at joining this spring put in two trackman setups in 2019, it was almost enough to get me to sign up.

My course put an indoor Trackman bay in last year. They charge $40 per hour. I used it a couple of times over the winter last year to figure out my yardages.

What was the $10K option? I recently moved and now have a basement ceiling tall enough to swing a driver, want to put a simulator in over the winter. Right now I have a mat and a net down there.

The thing I really want is this: https://shop.foresightsports.com/pro...e-plus-package , but that seems excessive....

A friend of mine has a Skytrak he's willing to sell me for 1/2 of what he paid for it.

So what type of ball does everyone use? I've been using Chromesoft Truvis (the ones that look like soccer balls). Love the feel around the green and on wedge shots, but I feel like they balloon high off the driver and go 10-20yds less that the TM TP5s I used to use. Thinking of switching back but I love the visibility of the Truvis design. Anyone else find that they lose distance with Chromesoft compared to other balls?

It's been an interesting discussion internally (I'm on the Golf Committee). The pro and club manager did some due diligence, and I was surprised to hear that almost across the board, clubs in our region that have trackman studios do not charge at all. As a member I like to hear that, but I also would have expected to pay for something. My position is essentially, taking swings, getting measurements, getting some quick analysis from a pro? No charge. But renting it out for a couple hours to sit and drink and play Pebble Beach? Charge something.

Now that I'm slightly more into Club management I've found that the vast majority of Board members view things a little bit more as "what's best for me personally" as opposed to what's best for the organization. I'm not sure where this one falls.

I use the Srixon Z-Star. Whether it's true or not, seems like I get a little less spin with the driver compared to a ProV1, and I like the feel off the putter better (it's a bit more firm, which I like).

There's probably a better ball out there for me, but that's my reasoning there. I've never liked Callaway balls mainly because I don't like the size of the logo. That might sounds stupid, but it's very distracting for me. Even the Srixon is a little much.

I would think by charging, even a smaller amount, would allow for better scheduling.

I also use the Srixon Z-Star with the following disclaimer.......EVERY SINGLE BALL FEELS THE EXACT SAME TO ME. Calloway, Titleist, Srixon, The Noodle.......all feel identical.

The Taylormade TP5 "Pix" is probably what you want. It's got the visibility triangles on it like the Truvis but it's a TP5!

Yeah, this. I tried a dozen and didn't care for them, but if you're a TP5 guy there you go.

Currently working my way through a dozen ProVs, then I'll probably go back to Tour Speeds.

I'll see if I can find the links but I've looked at a bunch. There is an entire forum devoted to simulator builds, some of the setups are pretty impressive.
