I used to be 1 of those guys that used to play any decent ball I find in my bag, now I play the Q star ball, My ball flight has come down a ton getting less ballon shots with my driver. Also gaining a bit more distance (maybe it just me as my swing has got better). It’s helped me way more consistent though wedge shots, chips and putting all seem to have improved.

I play the Q star because of the above and it’s at a decent price, I think Pro’s are like nearly £50, Now I don’t lose balls all that often so I can make them last but still seems pretty steep, I get the Q star for half that,

For me I can tell the differences between balls sometimes, Like I remember I hit a couple of Pro V 1X’s and for me the feeling was a super hard ball. I guess the differences between a normal pro v and a Q star, Z star etc are probably more similar and harder to feel or notice.

It’s funny I play with a guy fairly new to golf, he’ll pick up any ball he finds and he’ll play it. Our club got some new range balls in when I played with him the day after he put a couple in his bag and used them on the course, I was like no no no …..

I have played the TP5x since it first came out. The 2021 version was designed to add more spin so I went away from it. Tried the Chrome Soft X LS, ProV1x left dash, Vice Pro Plus, and the Snell MTB X. Ended up settling on the Vice Pro Plus. Ball worked the best for me along with the added benefit of it being cheaper.

With all that being said I am down to my last 6 of my 6 dozen. In a pinch I have done back to the Left Dash but I decided to buy a dozen of the new TP5x to see how it performs. Have not brought those out to course yet though.

I will say that I have never hit my irons better an with the Vice. That could just be operator issues but I played Tuesday with some old TP5x balls and my distances were all over the place.

I'm a Vice Pro truther. I joke around and call them my Facebook balls.

They're solid, like an NXT Tour from 20 years ago, durable, and cost effective.

Welcome to the team!

i've been playing vice balls recently and don't mind them at all, especially for the price
for the weirdo that doesn't like a big logo, perhaps give them a shot?
additional benefit: amazon prime usually has them at my door next day.

ORLY?

Goes to Amazon...

Edit: Checked them out. Only difference is you don't get the bulk discount, but at least you don't have to pay for shipping.

Edit Edit: Bought 2 dozen lime since they were $1.50 cheaper than white and I leave next week for a member-guest.

Had an interesting thing happen the other day. It was a CPO hole we were parked about 40 yards away from someone hitting behind us. We SHOULD have been way out of the way but the player hit the back of our cart (we were both not near the cart). Ball ended up hitting my passenger's 3 wood just above the hosel and snapped the shaft.

Not part of this conversation since the other 3 in my group have more than enough $, but who would you think should pay for the fix?

ah ok I would honestly ask the question if it the shaft had been damaged before, From what I gather shafts are pretty strong of course no way to prove it after the incident. I say this and I am assuming here. The guy's hitting up behind you, the ball would have been nearer to the end of it's flight? Meaning it being near it's slowest speed. Again I am assuming so don't really know the in's and out's.

I think the fair thing to do would be to split the cost of repair.

Edit: I think what would happen in a lot of case's like this is that the guy hitting it would just pay for the repair. Whether that's fair or not only you can decide.

The cart was about 40 yards ahead of where he was hitting (he was around 180y from the hole). So the shot went a little right and VERY LOW. He certainly doesnt have the highest swing speed but enough to snap a shaft apparently. The guy who hit the shot ended up paying for it. Good thing it wasn't my $300 driver shaft!

IMO, this is no different than houses on the golf course. If a ball strikes them during the normal play of a hole, the player is not responsible. Liability is assumed when you buy a house fronting a course.

The golfer was playing the hole in a normal fashion, he did nothing wrong and should not automatically be responsible for a poor shot. Of course he can choose to strike an agreement with the other party, but does not have to.

The shaft of a club is weakest at the hosel, any seemingly minor nick can easily cause the shaft to fracture.

Yeah if it was my club he hit I would just pay it myself, and that's what I assumed would happen. Guess not.

Team Bo - club owner is on the hook for that repair. Freak accident for it to have snapped the shaft; just bad luck, even

The driver of the cart obviously.

Spoiler:
j/k. The passenger pays to replace/repair his own club.

Jeeezzz You're blowing us out the park, Hopefully we can at least win the 2nd session today to make it half competitive tomorrow. 4-0 blow it this afternoon means that you'll only need 2 single matches to win the whole thing, Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Match play format is something different though, Crazy we don't have that many events at the highest level. Seems like people enjoy it a bit more. I personally used to love playing it.

Had an interesting situation in our matches today. I will add some context. These are friendly matches between a sister club of ours. It was shotgun and we started to fall behind due to looking for some lost balls. When we made the turn we had the honor and I went ahead and teed off. Right about 5 seconds or so as I was walking back to the cart they pulled up. I said I just hit to get us moving. He give me the death stare and said yo really should have waited til we got here. It's not like we took 10 minutes to get to the next tee (they stopped to get refreshments).

My partner asks if they want me to re-tee. They say yes. I sat in the cart and said if you have a problem with it ****** take it up with the pro after. I know it is technically correct to wait for them but this is not THE Ryder Cup. Match got a little salty from there. I was 3 down after 3 on that side and I had an 18 inch putt to tie a hole, they made me putt it.

People take this **** way too seriously.

I think my reply would have been very similar to yours. Unless I had hit a poor tee ball.....
