I am coming into Phnom Penh on Friday 10th for a few nights then go down to SKV for a week, will play in cheap events on APT and maybe a few cash games.
Anyone wanting to meet up for a beer Monday evening?

A few questions to those on the ground
Is Queenco a good place to stay with a budget of US$50 per night?
Renting a moto , do police harass you much?

Where is/what name is the US$25 whorehouse lol

Thanks, hope to meet some of you guys there

Thanks for the info. Hope you guys run good during the APT!

Queenco during the APT is $68 per night according to trip advisor. Makes sense that prices will be higher. But this is Sihanoukville and you don't need nearly that much for a room. It won't be baller, but you can get decent accommodations for around $15 per night.

The police will stop you constantly. Just keep $2 handy in one of your pockets.

The massage place mentioned in a previous post is Venus Massage near the CT Clinic.

Good luck at the APT!

the queenco is in an isolated area and i wouldn't feel comfortable going to or coming from the queenco late at night with a pocket full of cash.

people laughed at me for saying that last year, but then a couple of people known on this forum got put in hospital in sihanoukville with one on life support. your call

No one laughed at you one guy replied that they'd take the official tuktuk that Queenco provides.

Then when you said 'violent murders are commonplace' one guy politely said 'I think that's a slight exaggeration'.

And that we shouldn't use examples of people having $4000 on them on a remote place as an example of how unsafe cambodia is (it happened on Koh Rong island).

Down for a beer for sure, point you in the direction of this whorehouse..

Like triad said,, doesnt make any since to stay at queenco.. look online for different options.. 15 dollars get you a room but for around 30 you can get yourself something very nice im sure.

if your here just for a week you may be better off not renting a moto and just paying the dollar to get a ride. even if you want to go to ostros beach, farthest play i could imagine.. your not paying more than 3 bucks.

Queenco rooms last year was 100 per night during apt, but they have a new building now so i assume it will be cheaper but still expensive... You can easily find a place just next door for half the price

The brokenness of local and expat there is what make the charm of Snooky. Since everyone is so broke, anything is possible. Me and my buddy call it Sin City.

I love this place.

Last APT there was 3-4 running tables, with like 70% of players I've never seen before... Most of the RK regs come to play the cash games, and they are certainly not broke ^^ There was maybe a total of 5 max regs/backpackers that live in Sihanoukville that were playing the cash games...

Belongs in Philippines thread ldo but 15 minutes ago I was coming out starbucks and heard a lot of yelling. Walked around the corner to go to my apartment and saw a crowd of people standing on the edge of the sidewalk. Past them were two guys pinned onto the street by police in flak jackets wielding assault rifles and shotguns. There was still some yelling that I couldn't see, and then the crowd dispersed and starting booking it towards me and I could see the guy who was yelling was walking towards the police with a pistol and aiming in my/the crowd's general direction.

Did not feel safe.

No I don't think he's 100% wrong.. I have no idea on the financial situation of tourist/live regs as I'm neither. But most the expats here seem to be doing ok. Most have some sort of business or older peeps living on a pension. His post just seems unnecessarily negative in a thread that has been mostly positive and helpful of late.
