I got a promo deal at Queenco for 4 Nights Deluxe Room Sea view room for US$200, from there website
includes buffet breakfast

My thinking is I will be playing at Queenco and spending most of my time there so if I have a win I will already be at my room/hotel so can deposit in safe box before venturing out to the nightlife.

I like a nice secure room and got a good deal

Can easily use there tuk tuk to go into town and back from town

Saw this in Facebook today. I'm pretty sure though it's only during APT.

Once again nothing official, but I have heard today that the rake for cash games during the APT will be 5% capped at $20. I'm not sure how different stakes will affect the rake but I don't plan on playing above $1-$2. I really wasn't looking forward to these games anyway and if what I have heard of the rake is true I probably will avoid Queenco altogether.

The Lion City game has been interesting the past few days as some tourists have injected both life and money into the game. One such player came in yesterday and bought us all Long Island Iced Teas as it was his 27th birthday. Really nice guy and he loved to gamble. I shot a short video that represents fairly well the daily cash game; tourists and regs, dealers making mistakes and plenty of alcohol going around.

Dealer making mistake, this also happen in Canadian casino lol. Funny part is the guy didn't even noticed he was missing money. I swear some people pay no attention when they play poker.

The only dailies run at Lion City at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The day one is a $10 winner take all sit n go and I believe it has a $100 guarantee. The 7:00 PM is a $20+$5 with the $5 going towards bounties.

Still every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday as far as I know. Although Saturday starts at 6:00 PM instead of 7:00 PM I believe.

You know what's your problem Vanial? You should try to live a little bit less in the future, a little less in the past and enjoy the present.

Having lived and played poker in cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles, it would be very appropriate to ask how and why it is that I ended up in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. And it might be easy to answer such a query by simply assuming that I went broke or failed somewhere along the way in those other cities. If I had to be honest I would admit that there is a great deal of truth in such an assumption. I have gone broke multiple times and I have had great difficulty in reestablishing my poker career in terms of starting all over and building up a proper bank roll.

Coming to Cambodia was an attempt on my part to lessen the requirements needed to play poker for a living, namely to reduce my monthly nut and find easier games to play. The added bonus of traveling to an exotic and unknown land was also appealing. That having been said, I was largely disappointed with my experience in Phnom Penh. I found the city to be too expensive and overpriced and more importantly the games were overrated. The days of good games at Naga were long gone and most of the action at the River King had moved on to the PLO game.

And regarding the last three cities in which I have lived, I noticed that they all had one thing in common namely that every poker player was a professional. Everywhere I went I met nothing but those who crushed every game they ever played. During an LAPC event at the Commerce I once sat next to a woman from Vegas who claimed she crushed the Bellagio $1-$2 for an hourly of $80 per. And I've met those from L.A. who claim to play the $40 max buy-in $1-$2 NL game for a "living." Phnom Penh was really no different. The games were filled with those who "used to" crush every game or those that beat games in every other country but somehow never won in Cambodia.

The truth of the matter is, and I'll include myself in this group, we were all just losing our money slowly. This was more the case in Phnom Penh than anywhere else. Many of us would come with a roll, play and maybe enjoy some initial success but then end up just partying and banging whores all the time. Then we would go home because we "needed to see our families", save up for a few months, come back, rinse and repeat. Or there are those with just enormous trust funds or rich families who never had to worry about money.

I wanted to break this cycle and move to a place where I could live life a bit more simply. And life in Sihanoukville is certainly different, but in what is often times a challenging manner. Geckos and critters of all kinds climb into my apartment everyday, cows greet me as I leave my apartment complex and goods/services can often be difficult to find. But there are some great benefits as well. Everything is dirt cheap and multiple beautiful beaches are just a stones throw from where I live and work. But it is true that because everything is so cheap here that it does mean that people do have less money and because of that games can often play much smaller than what most are accustomed to. But when you don't spend that much, you don't need to win as much either.

I've only been here about 5 weeks and perhaps I'm still in a bit of a honeymoon period. But the fact is thus far I love my life here. I paid for my rent, utilities and monthly moto rental the other day and the total didn't even break $300. And regarding that moto, I overcame one of my greatest fears by learning how to ride. I play poker all day/night and the games are big enough and good enough that I haven't had to withdraw any more money from the bank since I've arrived. And whenever I get restless at the table, I can hop on my bike and be on a beach in literally 5 minutes. And while there are some here also that tell tall tales, for the most part there are no superstars here; just players who enjoy the game and don't mind losing a little bit each day. And for those of who take this a bit more seriously, the task at hand is even simpler. We play and we have to play a lot. And while we do have our fun, it never breaks the bank and volume keeps us in the casino most of the time and away from trouble. If we win, we stay and it really is that simple.

Perhaps I'll be packing boxes for my friend's warehouse in Kentucky in 6 months, or just maybe all of this will work out and I'll still be enjoying life here; I really don't know. I've planned this as well as I can and the rest is really out of my control. All I know now is that I'm going to sleep in about 20 minutes, wake up in about 8 hours then head to the casino to eat some lunch and try to win more money.

This is status quo in the SEA forums. But good news there are guys who balance it out like the brothers, Triad, Sam, Jsplit, a few others.

Nice post Triad!
