I know this isn't what was he talking about, but all the trouble with the Indo airlines a few years ago has me worried about budget airlines.

you can't really compare indonesian and thai airlines. i'd never get on a indonesian based airliner. there is a reason most (all?) are blacklisted by the EU

Do you need a onward ticket if you go to Chiang Mai? I guess at worse I can just buy a onward ticket on the spot if they refuse me at airport?

most people on forums unnecessarily criticize low cost carriers making ridiculous accusations. i can't even remember a flight being later than 40 minutes and that's during the busiest part of the day.

but yes i frequent asia often.

i have been asked before in singapore and KL for onward tickets on low cost carriers but i can only remember twice. there's a hack around this that costs you nothing but i don't want to post it on a forum, especially with the hostile attitude i receive from people.

Air Asia doesn't really compare to other low cost airlines.

Fly Garuda or Tiger and you can expect a **** trip. But Air Asia basically provides the same service as any other airline at half the cost.

This is only a commercial scam due the low cost competition. But you always can catch a traditional Airline..

exactly. low cost carriers have made full service airlines redundant outside of long haul flights. no doubt the low cost carriers will one day sink their teeth into that opportunity any way.

Considering biking(scooter) from Phuket-Pattaya(and then returning), looks to take around 14hrs, which ill break up into a few days and stop off at some places along the way, I've been told not to attempt this by pretty much everyone I've spoken too lol, anyone have any sort of experience with anyone who has taken this route, what the roads like, is it possible on a scooter, etc.

Saw some guys from TV do even longer. Always wondered wtf goes on in their heads.

Ive done like 400 km trips on big bike 1000cc back in europe and even those are not so pleasant, at least for me.
