MLYLT,

If you're logging accurately and losing at the expected clip, why all this talk about you not crushing, coupled with suggestions on how to "start" crushing?

I dunno...that's what I'm asking.

I still can't believe 27os lost 12 lbs.

If my daily avg is 1429cals based on the weight I lost, I don't understand why everyone thinks I'm not accurately counting or thinking I should have lost a lot more weight.

This isn't how it works...if you go from eating a lot of bad food to starting to eat less and better food there will be an loss in water, glycogen , poop and food weight as well

She started her diet and got the water/glycogen bump prior to the start of the bet. Terrible strat.

Why haven't you been going to the gym? Exercise will help you feel better. I don't care if you are low energy, get up and get active for 30 minutes.

Nightly walking is good for your overall routine, but in the end will burn very few calories per hour.

In your OP you posted about swimming and weight lifting. Do these things coupled with your current diet and your progress will be more meaningful, you will see the progress more quickly.

I would stop thinking about how much weight you are losing each month, and focus more on your habits.

I would also stop drinking diet soda. I don't think this is causing you to gain weight or retain water but it's just another bad habit. Don't think of these things as what you need to do today, this week, this month to hit your goal. Healthy diet, drinking water, going to the gym is a routine for everyday, the rest of your life.

I think your results have been lackluster simply due to not hitting your calorie target often enough and being a female. There were a lot of ~1800 calorie days where you were pretty near calorie maintenance. Females have it harder when it comes to dieting. Someone like wildebeest can eat 1800-2000 a day and lose 2kg a week while you need to eat substantially less than that to lose 1kg a week.

And yeah more cardio would help too.
08-04-2016 , 02:07 AM
u need to run, simple as that.

u know what i did when i was like 40lbs over weight? i ate nothing but vegetables and water. ran like 4 miles a day for a complete month, basically running til your heart is about to burst.

you're gonna have to want it baaaaad
08-04-2016 , 02:37 AM
Ya dry chicken and spinach + 1hr of cardio+ daily
08-04-2016 , 02:40 AM
N1,

Or she can just make healthy lifestyle changes and lose it at a slower rate over a longer time.
08-04-2016 , 04:13 AM
MLYLT - you need to stop making your own decisions and start doing what the knowledgeable H&F people tell you to do. Do not argue with them. Do not insert your own beliefs. Just follow their advice.
08-04-2016 , 04:42 AM
Also MLYLT because there's some confusion, you say BMR when you mean TDEE.
BMR = basal metabolic rate, the base amount of calories your body will burn when just lying/sleeping all day
TDEE = total daily energy expenditure, basically BMR + all your daily activity

Not a healthy day, but still under 1400cals.

Where are you getting the California rolls?
There should be an option with some actual protein whenever it is.

Also, it is dumbfounding that you only lost 8lbs, but it is good you are doing something.

BK,
8 lbs in a month seems like something to be proud of, and MLYLT's calorie tracking seems to correspond to that level of weight loss (as discussed above) - what's the problem?

If she's able to sustain this way of eating, she'll do great. I don't think she should be aiming for much lower than what she's current at (1,400-1,500 per day). Exercise would be good, of course, but I'm not even sure what she's capable of doing right now.

Oof. Yeah. That's how he lost 12 pounds, especially since (if I remember correctly) he's essentially going low carb. I generally eat low carb and when I don't, the water weight comes back super fast, but I can lose ~5lbs of water weight in a day and a half by going no carb (and I'm 160 pounds).

And yeah, don't get any of us (or most of us) wrong; what you've lost is great, we just want to help you do better where you can, and make it sustainable (don't eat just vegetables and water).
08-04-2016 , 02:18 PM
Exercise would be great - per Harris Benedict even slight activity up from sedentary would raise her TDEE from 2400 to 2700. An extra 300 cal/day= 9300 cal/month = 2.65lbs/month

As you increase exercise it's going to make you hungrier & that's going to make it difficult to keep cal consumption that low but you should be able to increase the difference between TDEE and consumption as activity increases.

Speaking from experience (and this ain't revolutionary), exercise is also great for depression. I know it's really, REALLY hard to take those first steps off the couch to the gym/outside/wherever, but I always feel so much better when I actually do it.

Finally a voice of reason
08-04-2016 , 07:02 PM
MLYLT,

why do you want to lose weight? I mean are there any reasons beyond getting hotter and getting more attention from guys?

And I think you are doing great. And suggesting to go veg for 200 kcalories a day and a ton of cardio just won't end well.

I have one tip, that I think wasn't mentioned yet. Keep strict meal times. The most effortless I had shed weight in the past, when I had three meals a day, always at the same time. Breakfast at 7am, lunch at 12am and dinner at 5 pm. Somehow my body then knew, that the next meal will be there and did shut-up with "FOOOOOOOODD. MOREEEE"
08-04-2016 , 10:55 PM
I don't really want to lose weight for more attention from guys even though that will be a nice benefit. I want to lose weight to feel healthy, to not be over the limit for a rock climbing wall, to be able to play on a softball or volleyball team competitively, to keep up and play with my daughter, to be able to fit in the seats for roller coasters, to go on kayaking and canoeing trips, to live longer, and to just be happier in general.

[QUOTE=MeLoveYouLongTime;50518365]My body fat is 42.8%, I think it was around 50% when I started. I need to be at around 30% to be healthy.

In regards to the sugar; I've noticed that I lose less weight per week when I'm drinking diet sodas/Coke Zero than when I'm only having water. I think I need to cut the diet sodas as well.[/QUO

The body responds to diet soda as if it were real sugar so you will gain weight with diet soda. if you can't take having no sugar for a while and you feel like your going to crack and go on a sugar binge then take a diet soda but I try not to take no more than 1 per week. the artificial sugar can contribute to cancer so it shouldn't be consumed in large quantities.
