Halfway through the year already! I'm very happy with my progress...I really wasn't sure if I could maintain this kind of mileage for this many weeks. I'm on pace to completely destroy the mileage goal of 1300 so I think it needs to be adjusted. Gonna set the bar high and shoot for 1750!

June goals recap:

Crushed the volume goals and came up short with the weight goal but that seems to be standard. I'm still extremely happy with my progress!

I went to visit my younger two kids over the weekend...started out good with an easy 5 miles Friday morning but I ate wayyyyy too much all weekend and ended up taking Saturday and Sunday off.

Day 324

Long run Tuesday...lingered in bed cause I knew it was gonna be hot and humid. I don't think it got below 80 at any point Monday night/Tuesday morning.

I got out a little after 8 and followed the exact same plan as last week: two 5-mile "laps" with a total of five water breaks. I ended up going 10 miles again and at the end my shirt was nothing but pure sweat front and back....felt ok after though.

Not surprised than I posted a small gain this week...had a terrible holiday weekend and I was at 226 when I stepped on the scale Monday morning. Lots of the gain was water weight obviously and I did good to get back down to 217 this morning. Gonna kill it this week!

Tempo run Saturday morning...started with a one-mile warmup then 2 miles at 10K pace. The fast miles felt pretty good but I was thankful when they were over. Finished with a 2-mile cool down.

Back at it Monday...18 weeks away from my first marathon!! The only difference going forward is I'm gonna have to start increasing the mileage, primarily the weekly long run. I'm also gonna try and get two hard workouts each week instead of just one.

I was gonna do my long run but I woke up feeling like crap and it was also pouring down rain. Didn't get out to run until the late afternoon and I did an easy 6 miles. Got lucky with the weather, it was overcast and not terribly humid. Long run coming up Wednesday...

Ok I'll get the app and get on there. Have you ever done two a days for long runs? I'm not sure I can run for 3 hours+ until probably October with this heat.

you don't need to get the app. you can
- copy the activities manually (download the tcx or gpx etc file from runkeeper and upload to strava)
- use https://tapiriik.com/ to sync automatically (either start syncs manually for free or pay 2$/year to sync automatically)

of course, you can also completely switch to strava and use their app.

splitting your long runs: i really wouldn't recommend it. the idea behind the long run is to get your body used to run for a really long time in one go. now if you split that run up, it has a somewhat different effect. how long are your upcoming long runs for the next weeks and how long do you estimate you have to complete them? can you run late at night? or super early?

Day 332

Woke up not feeling so hot and I didn't get out to the trail until 10:45. I got really lucky though as some clouds rolled in and it was overcast most of the way. Without that it would've been brutally hot.

I felt pretty good until the last couple miles but taking the extra water breaks paid off and I finished 10 miles again.

Much better week! I'm also about to go through a pretty dramatic life change.

I've landed a dealing job at a new poker room that opened in May in central Florida that will allow me to move close to my younger two kids. My last day at my current job will be July 31st and I'm moving the next day...needless to say I'm very excited about all this!!

I still plan on coming back to Pensacola in November for the marathon and hopefully a few more of my favorite races in this area.
