Day 245

Race day! The weather was great, low 60s with no humidity...it was a little breezy but felt good. The course was in downtown Pensacola so it was very flat and fast. I didn't feel great starting out and most of the first mile seemed to be into the wind...first mile split was 8:44.

I felt better as the race went on and got faster, last 2 miles were 8:43 and 8:37. The finish line appeared sooner than I was expecting, GPS showed only 3.04 miles at the end. Finished in 26:22 which is a new personal best! Next race is the Fiesta of Five Flags 10K on April 30th which is the last big race of the season...I really wanna smash that one!

Recovered from my eating binge with a really good long run Monday. The weather was perfect and I got out early, just after 7. Ended up going 13.1 miles in just over 2:23...felt like I could've gone a little further, maybe 14-15.

Day 255

Did my long run Tuesday...I was planning on going 10-11 miles depending on how I felt. Got out there and felt so good I decided to push myself and go farther than I ever have.

I've been doing my long runs on a paved running trail that's an out and back run. I didn't turn around until after 7 miles so I had no choice but to go 14, even if it meant walking some. It got a little humid and I started feeling fatigued after about 11 miles. The last 3 were a struggle but I finished it! I'm gonna cut back to 3 miles Wednesday and Thursday then take Friday off...last 10K of the season on Saturday!

I don't follow the thread, but I did go back read OP. Is the goal still to run a marathon in November? How do you time your miles?

xmas I got a fit bit and started running to get my daily steps. I got into good enough shape to run 8 miles at a time. After awhile I wanted to see how hard a half marathon would be. I finally did one after lots of walking and misery. It was so much harder than I expected. Toes, feet, knees, etc. all extremely sore. A week later I ran another one and it was so much easier. I think I've ran 13 since March 12th. Anyway, even after all that running I still don't have any desire to run a full marathon. It seems like a lot pain and discomfort.

Yep full marathon on November 13th is the plan...I'll start an 18 week program in July to train for it. I use an app called Runkeeper to track and log my runs. I've done 3 half marathon races so far but my long runs have routinely been 10+ miles the last several months. I know what you mean about the marathon maybe not being worth the pain but it's a bucket list thing for me. I may never do another one but I wanna be able to say I've done at least one.
