With the risk of upsetting some audiophile, I've considered Bose Quietcomfort 15, but seems a bit pricey for what you get.

Does anyone have experience using open headphones at the poker table? I was thinking that they would be more convenient so you can hear table talk and stuff the dealer says, but at the same time your music can be heard and might annoy the rest of the table

No experience but yeah, open headphones probably wouldn't be very courteous to other players if you're listening at an appreciable volume.

Meh, oh well.

Has anyone just plugged headphones into their ipod and let it run overnight to speed up the break in process?

No, the only reason is because the VO guys love them (anything in that Sony family).

Open have more soundstage. I have the HD595's which were similiar and they were good enough for me un-amped.

Although I'm not much of an audiophile, I picked up HD650's and the Shiite Magni (Headphone Amp) and Modi (USB DAC). When listening to FLAC or 320kbps+ stuff, everything is so clear and the soundstage is great.

As a disclaimer, I haven't tested much else, but the setup does it for me.

hey guys

I'm looking to splurge on some good pair of audio stuff.

I'd like to buy open-ear headphones for when I'm grinding and good earbuds for when I'm on the plane etc.

Don't want to drop 5k but would like some pretty shweet audio equipment

Also if it matters, I like to listen to stuff like classical and Radiohead. Electronic sometimes.

Thanks!

Recently got some Skull Candy aviators for $200ish.
They'd be perfect if my head was a bit smaller.
Anyone recommend something similar but also with bigger ear cups?

Bought these for $165 (AKG K550)

And these for $130 (ATH A900X)

Slight brag/response to straykatbluz.

My Niece is graduating high school next month, and I wanted to get her some over the ear headphones as a graduation present with a note saying something about being able to shut out distractions at college, yada yada, you get the idea.

I'd like to spend around $100 or less. And remember this is going to be for an 18 year old girl, so style is probably just as important as sound quality (more?).

Suggestions? Thanks guys.

These are great in the sub-$100 range (and they're the goddamn comfiest headphones ever), but they're not exactly stylish. Not ugly, but not stylish.

Two possible solutions. Thoughts?

Second > First.

With that, I would go with white.

anyone ever try these?

I'm leaning towards Audio-Technica ATH-ES10 or Beyerdynamic DT1350.

So happy with them. The sound quality is amazing.

Would definitely recommend.
How big are the ear pads? I had a good pair of Sony NC headphones, but the ear holes were just like 1/4 inch smaller than my ears. They felt fine at first but after about an hour the top of my ear would start to hurt.

Anyone have a recommendation for some good, big noise-canceling headphones? I don't really like having stuff in my ear.

Hey all,

Had a nice pair of sound isolating Shure earbuds but they really started burning out (like 10 years old I think), loved the sound on those but they're unusable now. Also was using the standard cheapo headphones that come with my GS3 and honestly those sounded good enough for all intents and purposes, but one of the ears was shorted within a few months.

Any recommendations for a mid price (maybe like $100-150ish?) ear bud that's tough enough that I could take to the gym with sound at least as good as the above? My requirements for sound quality aren't incredibly high since most of the time I'm streaming internet radio and crap anyway, but it would be good if they limit the sound outside of the earbud as much as possible as I'll be using them at work (the Samsung ones did this WAY better than the Shure). Sound isolating / cancelling would be nice, other than that just looking for a decent value.

Thanks

It was on eBay back when I posted that. Not anymore though. The name of the company is silasdeanepawnshop if you're interested. They're trying to sell me another one for $115 but it seems sketch as hell since the invoice on the paypal payment has literally no information. I guess they're trying to screw me since I made a claim against them. As you may or may not know, the rechargeable battery for these earphones are out of production and the average life span of them is 1 year
