Just wanted to pop in and say that I just got my (second hand) Sennheiser IE8s, which replace my Shure E4Cs, which replaced my Shure SE102s. The IE8s are absolutely lovely, but I'm thoroughly busy these days so I haven't been able to just sit back and crank up some music.

Ah, IEMs.

BTW, has anyone tried the Monster Turbine Pros? I almost bought the Pros from the same guy who sold me the IE8s, they were going at a really good price too!

There are a couple of good guides for all price ranges on the headfi forums, or if not you can run a search there and find lots of quality suggestions.

+1 to not running with IEMs in-ear. I actually really like the Sennheiser MX range for cheap (and somewhat replaceable) workout earphones.

I bought the beats by dre in ear headphones for about $100. Real good sound quality as far as i can tell but i have nothing to compare it to, just the ****ty ipod standard phones which suck.

I was gonna go all out and get the studio beats but think they look pretty rediculous, everytime i see someone at live poker wearing them or just generally out and about wearing them i think they look like a complete tool, so i didnt get those.

Anyone have a recommendation between, the Klipsch Image S4 and the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5? The SuperFi are on sale and about the same price as the S4s. I am open to any other recommendations as well.

They will be used for studying, poker, and working out. Will be used with an Ipod...

Thanks

I wouldn't say "anything" by Monster, but it's true about the Beats. I had the Beats earbuds and the Studios and was not impressed and sent both back to Amazon. The Monster Turbines get really good reviews..especially the Turbine Gold and Coppers. I bought the regular turbines in the Las Vegas airport a few days ago and they are great and far far better than the Monster beats earbuds.

Had been using AKG K701s as my home headphone and Sennheiser HD202s as my portable/work headphones. Made my first headphone purchase in like 3 years yesterday to replace the 202s.

AKG K271 MKII. SWWEEET

I went to Canjam 2006 in San Jose. It's really cool to hear the top level stuff because its doubtful you would be able to otherwise. I heard everything from Sennheiser Orpheus's to Singlepower Amps to the Ray Samuels line. Pretty awesome.

I made this post in the IPhone thread, but I have a follow up now and maybe somebody has a different opinion.

About a month ago my cheapo iphone headphones stopped working in one ear. If I bent the cable around, I'd occasionally get them to work, but nothing regular. I only use these for working out, so never cared about the quality. I figured I got them too wet or something.

So I went to BBUY and bought a pair of UE 4's. They sounded a little better, and said they were water resistant, so I figured I was good to go. After about 2 weeks, now they are having the same problem.

I thought maybe my IPod was shorting them out, but someone in the other thread said I was probably winding them too tight around the IPod in between use, and the cables were coming undone(or something similar). This makes sense....but...

Everyone wraps their cables around their phone/ipod. Why have I had this issue twice in a month? What can I do to prevent this from happening again? If I want a decent headphone that will work for me, what would you recommend?

Hey Guys,

Hoping someone can help me, I'm looking for over-the-ear headphones with the most important things being:

1. Comfort
2. Sound Quality
3. Noise Cancellation

I have an above-average to large sized head so the bigger the better. My ears are normal sized but I'd like them to fit into the headphones.

My price range is about $30-$75 with something in the middle being ideal.

The primary use for these will be to watch movies in a home theater at night time. But if the sound quality and comfort is good enough, these would become my iPOD headphones.

If someone can recommend a pair or a few that meet these requirements since I don't have a clue how to research this, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks

i bought the beats by dre tour yesterday. they look good, sound good and have controls/mic for my iphone. but they are a f*ckin pain to have in my ears, after 10 min it hurts/irritates. for 200 you'd expect more, obv im aware that the high price is alot due to the brand but i heard good things about them, what hifi gave them 4/5. i have no idea how they managed to make them so uncomfortable.

has anyone ever come across a pair of headphones that were comfy while sleeping? i dont like earbuds, and the bigger headphones make you lobsided when you roll onto your side. (and im mostly a side sleeper.)

ive never found a pair i could comfortably wear while going to bed. has anyone?

I picked up a pair of Sennheiser 438s the other day. What I like about these are how comfortable they are and the shorter cable that's available as I plan on using them with my ipod a lot and not having a 10 foot cable makes transit a bit easier. My issue is I don't like the way they look and I'm thinking of returning them mainly for aesthetic reasons which is too bad as, from what I've read, the sound quality is supposed to be better than the 448s for the music I listen to. My replacement options right now are between the Shure SRH840 and Sennheiser 448s. From what I've read, it seems like the Shure headphones are generally better but the 448s have that shorter cable that I really think is convenient. Thoughts on these two?

Anyone have any recommendations for best earbuds to wear to the gym? ive tried the bose in ear but they seem to fall out while running. Not really concerned about the price, just need to be able to play high volume and high quality

I just bought a pair of Able Planet NC500SC Sound Clarity Noise Canceling Headphones on woot the other day for $59. Anyone have these, if so what are your thoughts?

hey guys. i am new around here and i was wondering if you could help me.

i just broke my pair of skullcandy ti's and i am going to take them back to jb hifi.

i am going to trt change them for a different pair. as in another brand. i got ti's for 100$ so thats all i can spend.

so i was wondering if anyone had any recommendation.

i'm only looking for ones that fit over the ear. i think they are most comfy. but if there are some better ones i still would like to hear.

Anyone have Sennheiser HD-595 headphones? Im looking at buying some, they seem pretty good. Most important thing to me is comfort then sound quality.

Can anyone recommend reasonably good phone headphones, preferably <$100. I use my HTC Droid Incredible as a music player now, but am currently switching between my regular earbuds to listen to music and my old blackberry earpiece for hands-free calls.

I'd like a hands-free that can also be used for music without sounding like complete ****. My current earbuds are $25 Sony's. I don't care about sound quality that much (obv) but at the very least need decent volume and be able to hear bass, which I can with the cheapo Sony's.

Wired or bluetooth solutions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Prefer in-ear, but I don't entirely object to over the ear.

I just picked up the Klipsch Image S4i and I'd highly recommend them. They've recommended in this thread a bunch of times already.

Pros:
- They fit well.
- Great noise isolation.
- Good crisp sound.
- Easy to use remote.
- Relatively cheap.

Cons:
- The bass isn't as great as I like it.
- The microphone is really variable. Sometimes it works great but other times people have a really hard time hearing me.
- The cord to me seems flimsy.

I'm pretty new to higher quality earphones/headphones myself but the ones I've had to compare it with are the Sennheiser 438s, Beat by Dre Solo, Klipsch S4i, and Shure750DJ. Probably going to return the Shure750DJs for either the Shure 440 or the 840. Haven't decided yet. I'll probably try out the 440 and see if I like them. If not, just upgrade up to the 840s.

first headphones i bought. they are pretty decent, especially if you arent using an amp of any kind. if they are your first 'hi-end' headphones, you'll probably be pretty impressed.

I went to a headphone "meetup" about a year ago to listen to these.

They're good, but I wasn't overly impressed. Without an amp, they really seemed to be lacking on bass..

For roughly the same price, I really like the AKG 701. I'd listen to both and go with your favorite.

Audio Technica NC Headphone ATH-ANC7b ATH-ANC7

Just got a pair of thse for $175 of ebay. Just for home use and poker table or studying w/e. Pretty happy as I didn't want to spend over $300(The RRP for these was like 280 IIRC?) and all the review's I read said they were great noise cancelling headphones for value for money.

Anyone got these/ had experiences etc?

on that note can anyone recommend good earbud headphones for around 100-150?
