I bought a pair of akg k81 DJ headphones for use with my cellphone and for $49 shipped I couldn't be happier.

How far up the quality/price ladder can you go with Pandora radio through a smartphone as a source? I've always wanted Beyerdynamics but Pandora is my main source of music and I'm not sure the extra quality is worth it even with an amp.

Audio Technica ATH-AD700.

Have had them for two years hooked up to a Xonar Essence STX. I never fully appreciate them until I put something else on and the difference comes flooding back. They sound fantastic, they're ridiculously under-priced for what you get, and they're comfortable like hell (really good muffs, you can keep them on for hours as opposed to the leather ones that get hot and sweaty fast).

I'm also a fan of the Bose In-Ear headphones, I had the first generation and they were great with my iPod. Good bass, comfortable, great quality to value ratio. The only downside was they're loose (walking, etc. is fine but if you're jogging with them that's gonna be a pain), but they seemed to have fixed that with the new generation.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for a portable amplifier. The source will be a iphone or ipod.

Looking for good sports headphones.

These Sennheisers look awesome

Rubber tips on the headphone seems comfortable. Single cable design is a must, and behind the head is very good, possibly ideal.

They're $50 though which isn't a lot for headphones but it's a lot for fru-fru sissyboy **** like lime green color, inline volume control and ADIDAS branding. I don't know how good/bad the SQ is but I'm guessing it's somewhere around "the same as every pair of headphones between $10-$40" which is alright.

Any suggestions? To be more specific, I need headphones for the gym, the stock iBuds are horribly uncomfortable and constantly falling out because the cord is near my chest which interferes with lifting weights.

I have some cheapy in-ear things which are equally obtrusive, but have replaced a lack of comfort with an obscene presence of external pickup. The cable touching my shirt, my breathing, anything gets transmitted right in to my ear.

you can get those in orange without the adidas branding for cheaper

Has anyone owned a pair of these for an extended period of time? How well do they hold up?
11-12-2011 , 03:11 AM
I have the ATH-A700, got them ~6months ago. Use them daily for everything, games, music, tv. The earcup padding is holding up pretty well. Still very comfortable to wear and not much signs of wear and tear on it. I take good care of them tho, cant recall ever dropping them.

THe sound is very good. You can read reviews bout it. I wont be able to describe it well. The biggest con about these headphones is from "headphone hair". Most headphones like these that I wear over the top of the head flatten my hair. The A700 has 2 separate pads which would lie on the top of my head. But when you wear it theres a gap between them. So what ends up happening is the sides of my hair under the pads are flattened but the middle is normal leaving a very stupid looking mohawk.

I have a headphone question that I'm guessing is a little bit different. I wear hearing aids and so I'm looking for headphones that have oversized ear cups that will fit comfortably around my hearing aids. When the cups are too small, the padding pushes my hearing aids against my head and it becomes quite uncomfortable after a while. Also, being hard of hearing, audio quality isn't a huge priority as I simply can't tell the difference beyond a certain point.

My current headphones are the Sennheiser HD-280s and I've been pretty happy with them, but the cups were just barely large enough to begin with and now that the padding is coming out they become uncomfortable quickly. I had the Bose Triports before that but those broke quickly. I could tell a difference with those headphones as opposed to the cheap crap I used before if anyone was wondering.

I could be convinced to spend up to $150 if that's what it takes to get oversized, comfortable ear cups, but I'd much prefer to spend less than $60. Other than comfort, I care about minimal sound leak (so I can listen to stuff at a high volume) and clear voices/vocals.

I'm looking on Amazon right now and I'm thinking that one of the Audio-Technica phones like the M30/M40/M50 or Sennheiser 201/202/280 might work, but I'd love to get some actual feedback from people on the size of the cups. My hearing aids mainly stick out both beyond the top and back of my ear, but it sticks out more in the back so I'd probably need width more than height.

Any suggestions?

If there is a Guitar Center near you, I would go there. They will allow you to try headphones on, to see about the comfort level. Since you don't really care about audio quality, comfort is the most important thing to you, and you should know how the headphones will feel relatively quickly, after trying them on.

If you have a Guitar Center near you, call them, and ask if they have the various models you are interested in, in stock. I'm pretty sure they'll have the M50, and probably at least one of the Sennheisers. The AKGs are also pretty light, and might not cause the pressure against the hearing aids you are talking about (thinking more about K240, though I think there are two different cup types based on age of them).

The main thing is that there really is no substitute for trying them on yourself (which is also what I recommend for people who do care about sound quality). Don't take everyone else's word for it, because when it comes to fit and sound, everything is subjective, and really completely to your tastes.

Looking for some good workout headphones, durability is a big issue since mine tend to break fairly often, preferably with a microphone.

Did some research and bought these for my gf last year, she takes the subway every day and they are still going strong. 2 year manufacturers warranty is nice too

nunnehi, thanks for the suggestion. I'm so used to buying everything online now (almost always off of Amazon) that I didn't even think about going into a B&M store to try on some headphones. I'll try that.

I just bought the Sennheiser PX200IIi with my iPhone mic and I'm very happy with them. Great sound and really comfortable, pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

duke magic i believe mentioned wanting some cheaper headphones. I haven't owned too many pairs of headphones in my life, but ive listened to all my friends boses, beats etc. I really thought that you needed the top of line stuff that costs 150 200+ to actual get good quality.

Honestly unless you are some sort of professional DJ or musician this really isn't the case. I just bought the same sennheiser Hd202 mk2 headphones you mentioned here in argentina. They cost around 60 bucks here but you can get them way cheaper in the states, prob near 30 bucks for a really really quality pair of headphones. Also, I generally love to ball out when its worth the money fwiw but after buying these I just dont think thats true for most headphone purchases.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-.../dp/B003LPTAYI

The sound quality is impecabble, at least to my ear, very deep bass and crisp treble sound. My roommate says he can barely hear them when I am wearing them so not much sound leakage either. ear cups are very comfortable, unless you have insanely huge ears. Comfy padding etc.

Ive always felt noise cancelling didn't make too much of a difference at least in the state the technology is at nowadays, ive listened to beats, the 300 bill boses etc. A quality, well padded and tight fighting earcup makes way more of a difference IMO.

Anyways, for those of you people who are looking for some sick headphones I wouldn't look to much further than the lower priced stuff. Technology has come really far in the past few years and I doubt that unless you are the nut nut musician it will make any sort of difference worth the price.

Id say at least give these or a similar well reviewed product a shot, then if you don't like it youll only have blown 30 bucks and can upgrade. But for most ppl I dont think that will be an issue.

Would noise cancelling headphones help me sleep on an airplane?

Can anyone comment on these earbuds?

MEElectronics A151

Looking online most reviews seem to indicate above average quality for a bud in this price range. Audiophiles are able to pick out some very particular concerns about the sound but I'm not sure if it's anything I would notice. I'm looking for a balance between value and sound quality.

Are these fine or are there better options for the price ($50-$75 range)?

Currently using a set of Dr. Dre Beats earbuds. Got them 50% off when wife was purchasing a new phone from Verizon. Even with the discount I would say the $50 I paid for them was not worth it.

1. The microphone setup only works for Iphone and actually makes it hard to field calls on my droid since it needs to be unplugged from the jack to activate the phone mic

2. The monster cable is weak sauce and is showing significant wear just above the jack plug stress relief, even though I have babied them.

3. The sound quality is very middle of the road even for earbuds.

Definitely avoid these unless they improve the cable to something more durable and even then I wouldn't purchase them if you can't get a stellar discount.
