Anthony Joshua is a badass

Doesn't seem to be much interest for this card in Brazil tonight, but round 1 of this Lentz v C Oliveira fight was awesome, so get on it!

Condit's return against Alves coming up next should be good too.

Those elbows were ridiculous.

Guess Alves will never be able to smell things again.

Condit has been one of my favorites for awhile. Glad to see him back and even more so to see him do that kinda damage!!

Surprised Condit didn't get a Performance of the Night bonus. Even though Thiago was fairly low ranked, he's dangerous as hell on his feet when he's not worrying about a take-down. Carlos is my #1 favorite fighter. Always exciting, humble, and the right combination of mellow and savage. Rematch with Diaz doesn't make much sense for his career, but is what would be most interesting to me.

After the Diaz fight, I got into a fairly heated argument with a friend who kept saying CC sucked. I had no problem with his approach in that fight. Dude is a smart fighter, and he did what he had to do to get that belt against a fighter like Diaz. I couldn't get it through my friends head that CC has the one of the best finishing ratios in MMA. 30 wins, only 2 by decision. Dude is a goddamn beast!!

Pretty solid card from top to bottom. First time I've seen Breese, Bectik, Dalby and Till fight and I can't wait to see more. Oliviera's had solid outings and WW is even more interesting with Condit back in the mix. I almost forgot how much fun he was to watch. I'd like to see Rory win the belt and Condit v Rory II for the title in the near future.

Shout out to the top 2 fights, great stuff.

lol at that HW boxing clip

how did they send him out for rd 2 after the ref helped pick him up and put him on his stool after round 1?

good lord.

CC been my favorite fighter since back in WEC days.

Sucks that people even think of that diaz fight when they think of him because his entire career he's been a guy going for finishes.

I think that rory with a few years under his belt will handle him in a rematch.

It's interesting that Carlos was allowed to throw those knees on the ground, but on the same night Anderson Silva was disqualified for throwing the upkick against Okami.

good lord condit's old physique compared to the last few years...

Cool, what an amazing 8-man tournament. My dad and his mom were both born in Honolulu. My grandma was an eye witness to the Pearl Harbor attacks when she was 18.

Anyway, so Carlos then had to fight Frank Trigg and Jake Shields the same night a few weeks later. Shields had to fight Yushin Okami and Carlos Condit in one night. I guess Shields and Condit both got lucky the Spider got DQ'd in the first round.

It could have been Anderson vs Carlos in the finals. Anderson became UFC champ later that same calendar year. So Anderson was making 171 just a few months before crushing Leben and Franklin.

Those 8 entrants included 3 UFC champs (Menne, Silva and Condit) and 3 others that fought for the UFC title (Trigg, Shields and Okami).

Even the ref that DQ'd Anderson later fought in the UFC and picked up a KO win.

People really calling Condit an UFC champ?

it's on ufc fight pass

Winner of Rory/lawler for the belt wouldn't be more interesting?

Condit made a few remarks that make me think a rematch with Diaz would be highly aggressive rather than skillfully strategic (like the first one). Condit and Lawler are the only guys at 170 that I think would fight Diaz on his terms and put on a dominant show. Also, Condit shouldn't get a titleshot just yet, IMO. A rematch with Diaz just to shut him and his fanboys up about the first fight would nice to see.

Yeah. I normally hate overly safe and strategic gameplans, but I remember being oddly enthralled with the Diaz/Condit fight, mainly watching Condit slip in and out of Diaz' range, never giving him any chance to mount his usual offensive. Regardless, it was an outlier to a long history of vicious displays. People were trashing him as just another Greg Jackson point-fighter after that match, and all it really said was how little they knew of the guy. Condit is a stone cold pimp.

EDIT:

Looks like Diaz actually turned down a rematch

Nick has to be one of the most frustrating fighters to be a fan of. I think the dude fought 3 times in the last four years, and has been healthy the entire stretch.

I do because I think when he beat Diaz, he should have been the undisputed champ. I think GSP should have been stripped as soon as he hurt his knee and they knew he needed to be out another 10 months.

I think they should strip any champ who doesn't defend within a year (unless his opponent is the one who pulls out).

Cruz, Couture, Velasquez and GSP should have all been stripped imo. No sitting on the belt.

Pettis was UFC champ longer than Bendo even though Bendo successfully defended his title three times vs one time for Pettis.

I love what Bellator did when their MW champ (Halsey) missed weight. They insta-stripped him. They let the fight go on and said if the challenger won, he gets the belt. If the champ won, the title would remain vacated and he would become the #1 contender. Halsey won and there is currently no Bellator Middleweight Champion. Good!

That's why I consider Interim Champs to be legit.

Condit is the best. I would like to see him fight Woodley again and beat him. I think he would give Lawlor a great fight and win in 5 rounds. Love love love Condit.

no comments about the obvious gyno? has he ever been popped?
