"fought at 170" lol good one
05-24-2015 , 07:14 PM
lol Bader.

Best card in a long time. I can't believe it exceeded my expectations. Rough night for the Blackzillians. For the love of god enough of this jesus talk here comes Islam!

Edit: New Aldo v McGregor promo was dope as well.

Bumping this. It's pretty great. In the 5th round the Filipino kid does a Bloodsport move and invites him for a leg kicking challenge. Also pretty sure he drops him with a snapping front kick in the first.

In his UFC debut, he was actually outweighed.

Reiner: 171
Johnson: 170

0:13 round 1

This made me check out his Wiki and wow, he had even more badass start than JBJ had - he had 3 pro fights during 1 month span before getting into UFC and 2 of them took place on the same night (JBJ had 6 fights during 3 month span).

But yeah, he missed weight 3 times out of 11 fights he had in UFC, 2 of them at WW and one at MW vs Vitor. Still, making 171lbs 8 times is pretty sick for him

Such a sick card! Some random thoughts from it:

* That nut shot Natal opened with against Hall looked deliberate as hell. Low blows are such a freeroll I'm afraid we will start seeing a lot more of them before the commission does anything about it.

*I was a little surprised at the unanimous 30-27 cards for Benavidez. Moraga landed the best shots of the first two rounds. Not that it matters though.

*Vitor did not even try to grapple once the fight hit the ground. Not a single hip escape or anything, just those flailing punches. It looked like he basically conceded once that initial barrage didn't work and he got taken down.

*Arlovski/Browne!!!!

*Rumble's post fight "Never give up" speech was odd given that he had just given up a few seconds before. It was still a great fight and I don't think it mattered at that point but he didn't exactly go out scrambling for his life.

*Please no Bader title shot, anyone but him. Gustafsson would be a fine choice despite coming off of a loss. DC just won the title after a loss and Gus did miss out on a title shot not too long ago. Most importantly, it would be a good, interesting fight.

WAT... I really enjoy watching Bader get his ass kicked.
05-25-2015 , 08:56 AM
DC will just wrestle**** him for 5 rounds to prove a point
05-25-2015 , 09:35 AM
DC will pretty much do to Bader what he did to Cummins.

Cowboy gets title shot against RDA.
05-25-2015 , 04:22 PM
Sweet. I think he'll give RDA a better challenge than Pettis did.
05-25-2015 , 04:51 PM
seems unlikely
05-25-2015 , 06:00 PM
You know he already got thoroughly dominated by RDA right?
05-25-2015 , 07:40 PM
Yeah I know. I think Cowboy has improved more relatively since then. I also think he's grittier than Pettis and fights better at that inside range Pettis got crushed at.
05-25-2015 , 11:12 PM
RDA has great takedowns and submission defense which has always been the way to beat Cerrone. Donald has gotten better at timing shots with his knees but RDA can mix in enough good striking that I think he'll be able to get Cerrone down consistently.

aldo is at -110 right now, does mcgregor really have that good of a chance here?

i want to pull the trigger and bet big on aldo at that price, it seems so obvious that it's making me doubt myself though haha.

if i make it out to vegas soon i'll plunk down on it tho.

its hard to have mcgregor at even money when his takedown defense is very suspect.

I think he has better striking than aldo though.
05-26-2015 , 01:32 PM
I wonder what matchups will be made at 205.

Even though Gus has only won once since 2012, Cormier/Gus seems like the money matchup.

Poor Bader. He might have to fight Rumble next.
05-26-2015 , 02:43 PM
bader for sure getting Cormier next over gus, despite no one gaf. Should be easy fight for Cormier, hopefully quick turnaround.
05-26-2015 , 02:50 PM
bet the bank on cormier getting the KO in rd1

I wouldn't bet either at that price, but if I was forced to bet I'd put money on Aldo. Just to much unknown with McGregor.

I'm with you on the striking. Not sure sure about his TDD though since it hasn't been tested. His clinch seems good (shoulder bump vs Brandao was cool) and he did alright vs Holloway on the ground with a blown out ACL. And he sprung up to his feet pretty impressively against stiff old Siver.

Strangely on other forums it seems like Weidmans stock has fallen because Vitor had about 20 seconds of success against him lol. Not to mention Weidmans defense was great and he blocked like 80% of the shots. Then absolutely murdered Vitor on the ground. And while he wasn't the same TRT monster and lost some mass, he was still obviously cheating.

LHW is absolutely awful now. Gus coming off a loss, Cormier vs Bader is lol who cares, I think Rashad died or something.

Dana saying Rockhold is the #1 contender, but says Jacare is most likely next for the title... WTF. Absolutely everyone prefers Weidman vs Rockhold. Is Dana ******ed or something? and if Weidman sits out for like 6 months for the MSG card that will be annoying as heck.

Dana waffling over the MW title shot is really bizarre. One theory that's not completely crazy is that the UFC is worried about AKA holding all three of those belts. It would be giving a ton of leverage to a camp they have had issues with before at a time when talk of a fighter organization might be coming to a head. Or Dana is talking nonsense.

LHW really is in bad shape and there's no improvement on the way. Who is going to fill in the next time Jones goes off the rails? OSP and Patrick Cummins?
