Is it just me or does the christmas hat look like it was cut on Paint in about 30 seconds?

I mean I guess it could be useful if you're in a fairly dead area, so you know to check your radar and see if there's one near a landmark (if you don't check the phone unless you get a cue) but in an area with a ton of spawns anyway it was irritating as hell, my phone was vibrating every 10 seconds, like half spawns and half walking into range of a new spawn spot, of which there are several dozen down there.

Found out how annoying chanseys can be in gyms tonight. Put mine as the first, after taking a gym. Then tried to level it up a bit. If I used a pokemon around his level, I'd always run out of time. If I used a higher level pokemon, I'd get almost no prestige. I assume enemies run into the same? Ive never battled one in a gym before, but then i dont gym much. Makes me wonder if I should level him up. I have 42 candy, but was saving them for gen2.

They acknowledged some of the extra buzzing is a bug and they will fix it.

Hatched a 10K and 5K egg today (one was in my last breakable incubator). So excited to maybe, if not get a Lapras, get one of the new babies. It's cracking...it's cracking...

**** you Pinsir. And to a lesser extent, Nidoran (so many 5K hatches, I was less hopeful for that egg).

10 degrees outside. Won't be hatching eggs for a while. No new Pokemon for me. Thanks again Niantic

I do like the santa hat. I wish they would do more of this but make them harder to find. It would make regular pokemon rarer and when you can eventually trade pokemon you'll have more pokemon with trade value.

I'm in the same boat. Some of us live places where it's cold and snows in the winter. Just sayin'

I ordered some of those pocket hand warmer things so when it's mild (for winter) and the weather is otherwise okay I can still put in some time down in DC. And flannel lined jeans. We don't get much snow here (some winters basically none) so if I can tolerate the temperature I can still make some progress.

Niantic isn't making the game as easy as humanly possible. Wah.

You don't seem to get it. This game revolves around 1 premise. Find and catch Pokemon. I can't find the new Pokemon because I can't hatch eggs. I also can't find Gen 1 Pokemon because the new radar system is useless where I live. I live too close to stops to get the old radar but live far enough away from the couple stops near me that going to them hoping the Pokemon are still there is a hassle.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, but right now for some of us it isn't fun.

About the only thing I could imagine where it's good is if mew or mewtwo get released and you don't have one yet.

That said, I just found my first, hooray!

It's def cool to sink dust into as a unique, chansey like bottom defender. However, I'd only do it if you're like level 32+ and can get it to super high CP, for ditto. Then it will be a decent defender, always becoming a super high CP, or at least forcing people to waste a slot on a magikarp.

So, I got to put this to the test somewhat the other day. Someone had a >400 CP ditto in a gym near me, the biggest I'd ever seen. So, I threw at it an 1100ish CP Raticate I would otherwise trash. The ditto morophed into a Ratticate that was pretty close in CP to mine but still slightly less, and I beat it pretty easily.

Thus, I guess a decently strong ditto will force an attacking trainer to use the majority of one of their 6 slots on just the ditto, but that's only relevant for level 6+ gyms, a rarity nowadays, and it's not like it's all that good for you to be the one with the ditto in a level 8 gym. You're still likely to get knocked out, even if the attacker gets bored before finishing off the gym.

Anyway, I still don't see a reason to use a ditto as a gym defender instead of an actual good monster (not that I bother with that nowadays either), nor do I see any reason to attack a monster with anything other than something you'd just trash after the battle rather than revive.

So when I take an enemy gym, what should I be placing as the first pokemon in? Should I just be putting my strongest defender? Or should I be aiming to level the gym, and if so what is best to put in to level a gym?

No gyms I go to can be held for more than an hour or so, so I just put in an arbitrary upgraded critter I would otherwise trash, and then I trash it when the gym gets taken from me to save a revive.

Was excited to power up my maxed Rhino once I reached level 30 only to realize your CP gain per powerup is halfed past level 30.

6 candies and 6k stardust to gain 23 CP is horrific

it depends how many teammates you have in the area and the turnover in the gym. If I'm in a high mystic area I'll put a good pokemon in knowing teammates will back me up.

you seem like you probably complain a lot about a lot of things.

you *can* hatch eggs if you really want to. and I haven't used radar or apps/sites to find any pokemon since probably august. i played with one or two, realized I was spending more time with the game closed while the stupid app searched the area and quit even bothering.

in the last 3 days, two work days were cancelled due to a wind chill advisory (yeaaah) and today rained an ice mix most of the morning and I still managed to hatch a pinser that was 0.2/10 on thursday morning...

edit: to be clear, I've hatched 7 eggs since thursday morning. just was pointing out that during a 48-hour period where a windchill advisory was in effect, I walked a 10k egg off without much effort other than my normal ****.

This is where I rub in that I've caught both those as payback for your Lapras jab.

Another pair of 10k eggs, no aerodactyl once again. I am a proud new owner of a baby magmar and a baby Jynx, however. Dex up to 141, while being sufficient for 143 with my next lucky egg.
