Eh, even if it absorbs only one shot it draws aggro from the enemy and you can put distance between you and the mob. Especially when fighting strong single target stuff like Warden, Bandits etc.

If you're fighting strong single target enemies, then higher level cwdt would activate anyways. If you're fighting big mobs then having it die in 1 shot is not useful. Having a full party running decoy totems on cwdt is pretty hilarious though.

its all relative. if it takes a harder hit to proc a 'better' totem, that harder hit is going to one shot it anyway. I'd rather have it proc more often personally.

base life on high level decoy totem is actually extremely high, the only things that will 1 shot it are attacks that will also one shot your character.

I'm not sure if it scales to zone level like other totems though. If it doesn't, then high level decoy totem is probably not viable.

Competed my first map solo. Smothering suffix is no joke when you get certain monster types.

good to see MF screws with my head in this game as much as D2/3. With my gear spec'd optimally, I have something like +8MF. I was running out of >67 maps, so I respect to about +60MF and ran a double boss +55% map. lololol, neither boss even drops a yellow and zero maps in the entire map.

respect back to optimal, run another map....3 maps and a bunch of yellows.

you should cull bosses and some elites with a skill supported by rarity gem.

map drop rate is not affected by iir in any way, or any of your gear's iir/iiq, only by the map's iiq. Gearing up with mf only helps you find rares and uniques, not more maps.

I cull with bear trap / rarity / culling, unless I get bored, then I switch it to lightning warp :/

iir helps with finding better maps though doesn't it? (ie, chance to roll higher lvl map when they drop)

no.

It does give more of a chance that you find a higher rarity map though. If you run with high iiq, you may find more unique maps, but your overall map drop rate will be unaffected.

it's easy to make maps drop, you just need to invest currency into them. You can't expect to put 1 transmute into a map and get multiple higher level maps back.

When you do high level maps, like 72+, expect to invest multiple chisels and alchs+scourings or chaos orbs into every map. I started alching the majority of my maps at 69, and at 70 I alched all of them.

I've never found anything over 70 and only 3 70's so far. I alch or alt them all basically hoping for the hardest mods, anything except mana regen killers. nuttin.

anyway, just need to complain a little. was down to ledge as my best map left...lol. ran it and got 4 maps, 69, 68x2 & 67. i'll take it.

...and of course, I alch the 69, catacombs, get more totems, 48% more magic monsters, players cursed with ele weak, 30% more monster damage, +50% items....

no maps drop.
