When you posted this they had about 500k subscribers and 50 million views. Their combined channels now have more than 9 million subscribers and more than 2 billion views.

They make around $5k/video on their main channel and put out one or two per day.

They received more than $500k via kickstarter to develop their own game. They also raised more than $300k for charity by livestreaming games over the xmas period.

Great call inso.

Baids is right. Those with the more popular channels are making close to seven figures a year and those wih the top top tier are making it easily. With online video content seeming to be the way entertainment is heading overall and moving away from traditional broadcast, that doesnt seem to be stopping any time soon

also **** building with blocks... covers are the future...

you get 8 covers out of a block and only need 1 or 2 to build a wall segment ( depending on if you can see the back or not )

What I want to do is play a hardcore vanilla server with like, 2 or 3 people and see if we can get to the end. Nowhere to do that though

Find 2 or 3 people, get a host for $5 a month and do it.

How do you figure out how much people get paid by Youtube? I've googled around and youtube seems to keep their payment plans a secret. I know that Docm77 was complaining in one of his videos that his previous video had 16k views (he usually gets at least double that) and wondering if he made the right decision in quitting his job to Youtube full-time. (Ftr, he has over 200k subscribers).

They get paid via adsense and I've heard it's about 1-3$ per 1k views on average. But it can be more if people click ads and such. There is no exact amount people make.

I googled around a bit to find a figure and $1 to $5 per 1000 (depending on total volume, more = higher rate ldo) seemed to be the consensus. Seems pretty cheap when you consider that they're generating more than 15 million views/week on their main channel - the most popular TV shows would struggle to match that.
