It isn't a white PS4: it's a commercial Steam Machines box, or at least a prototype of one. iBuyPower tells us that it's building the box for a 2014 launch, but says it's still early.

iBuyPower tells us that it actually has two models, codenamed Gordon and Freeman, in the works. The two consoles are identical, save for the light bar round the middle -- one model's is clear, while the other's is black when not illuminated. And, while the company wouldn't tell us about the boxes' internals, it did confirm that the hardware will run all Steam titles in 1080p resolution at 60fps.

Valve's Linux-based Steam OS

The GPU can run BF4 on High, 1080p, @60fps

"The Radeon R9 270 performs so much like the Radeon HD 7870 that even the most seasoned gamer wouldn't be able to tell them apart."

Tom's Hardware has a different rig, of course, so you wouldn't get the same performance by any means. Still, you can kind of ballpark what to expect.

Anybody want to buy a PS4???

SteamOS will only run Steam-Linux games assumingly. Pretty thin library and seems to go overlooked.

That's of course not to say you couldn't buy the hardware and throw a copy of Win 7 on there.

Yeah SteamOS only plays linux games, everything else needs to be streamed from a pc.

So in layman's terms how much of a % of their game library is that?

I think it was said that they will make every game work on steamOS

IIRC the way most non-linux compatible games will work is streaming from your PC.

Activated any keys, lately? Usually means someone was pissed when they tried to activate your dupe and spite-clicked "forgot password" or whatever.

I started using KeePass after the 2+2 hacking since I previously used a lot of the same passwords on multiple sites. You must have a hell of a memory if you have a different safe password for every site

KeePass is really good - it generates long weird passwords for you too - you can decide just how big and weird they should be. It's a bit more bother than just using one of the three passwords I would use everywhere before this, but now I don't have to have a panic attack every time I read about a page I use being hacked

KeePass is a must nowadays. There are so many sites that it's impossible to remember all different passwords to every site.

Also you can run unhackable passwords for your most important stuff, like bank account or pokerstars that which don't even know yourself. They're just encrypted and you can paste them in from the program. The downside is that if you don't have access to your computer you might be unable to get in from other sources - but this could be actually a good thing.

pretty much any modern site worth having your CC info on, can't be brute-force hacked anyway. If they hack the site itself, it's worthless even if you have a 64 char password.

Passwords these days have to be non-guessable. It's way better to have "BatteryOperatedDogLicker007" as password than "34546adfa6d5f4as6d2f1a6s5df4a".

I keep the database file backed up to a cloud service so I have access to it wherever. There are also mobile apps so you can carry your passwords with you.

The database file is heavily encrypted so it should be safe even if the cloud-account/mobile is compromised.

Yea just drop a copy of the portable version in dropbox and run it from anywhere. That way no matter where you are you always have the most up to date copy of your db. You can also run the keepass app on your phone.

Ah, nevermind you covered most of that above, ha.

So when do Steam sales usually start? Is it time to say that this was a fake:

Not really, you just need a method to keep track and something you can associate a site to.

You start with something you use in every password, to give it lenght, like my example above "BatteryPowered...", then you add something you get from the site and can remember; say steam, what comes to mind? SteamTube? GuardDog? SummerSale? You add that.

"BatteryPoweredSummerSale..."

Now you add an ending, like a number you like.

"BatteryPoweredSummerSale123".

Now you do the same for every site. Works for me. And the password can't be brute forced. And if they want your method, they need to hack a ton of passwords first.

So if they get your pass on one site they know your strategy, right? I would think that that would make it a lot easier to hack the others.

Do you also use the same number everytime?
