Re: *****Official February "greatest place on the interwebs" Chat Thread!*****

To add to the variance debate, I'm currently on a ~25-30 BI downswing over ~60k hands after beating 50NL for 5ptbb/100 for my first 60k hands. I've had coaching sessions and sweat sessions, and although they can't completely pick my game apart, nobody has noticed anything badly wrong with my game. I play pretty much the same style as a lot of other 50NLers here, and I actually feel quite good about my game, but I just seem to be on the wrong end of the big hands in every single session at the moment. This has gone on for about 3-4 weeks now and I'm getting really fed up with it, and I'm sure it'll turn around again soon, but just believe it when people say it can happen. For all of you that don't think it's possible, I can understand why, but one day you will run worse than you could ever imagine you will run, and then you will know what it's all about.

When I read CMAR's "Drift" thread, I thought he wrote it specifically for me, because as I've realized in the past few days that I've gradually developed a serious flaw in my thinking, and basically was burning money in a very common spot. True, most of the money I've lost was due to coolers/running bad, but it could have been a lot better if I wasn't letting my game drift over time. Think about spots where you have an automatic "standard" line, or spots where you're automatically stacking off (for me, I was automatically giving up OOP if they called my flop bet and had a double barrel frequency of basically nothing, and was auto stacking off with any two pair in a limped pot...instead of thinking about ranges and player types, I was going "they obviously hit the flop, I c/f" and "I has two pare, all in!").

Also possibly look at spots where your downswing has caused you to assume people always have the nuts. For example, a recent hand I played....I knew the fish had Qx on a QQT8K board and I had J9, but I was too afraid that he had KQ or QT, I didn't get 125 BBs in the middle when he raised the turn. In fact, I called his turn raise, then froze up when he bet the pot on the river, timed out, and was folded. The reality is, if he is limping with any suited queen, he's going broke 100% there, and I shouldn't even be thinking twice about auto-shipping in that spot, but running bad caused me to make a horrible play.

Good luck to you, tighten way way up if you need to, play more straightforward, and get stacks in vs fish.
Thank you man. Yeah, we are going trough the same thing and the thread about drift got me thinking too

For me there is no auto-pilot anymore, I only play 9 tables or so, to really see what is happening..
Players just seem to get the top of their range, or hit magical turn or river cards but there are def. some spots where I have to watch what I am doing..

Check/folding turn was one of them I needed to change, so you are right in that part.

And I really didn't want to whine but it's such a stupid feeling. Feeling good again when having a winning session, but then having a losing session and hearing myself say: See, it's never gonna change!

But the more I talk about it, the less I am having this problem, so that's why

I like this season too, I still don't think it tops 1-3 probably since the novelty of the show has worn off. The past seasons have been pretty meh I've thought.
Nooo!! The last ones where very good!
You finally see what years of working for CTU did for Jack bauer, he is no longer Jack bauer, the guy is broken and that's where the last seasons are about..
that is what makes season 7 so good, he is back at the point "just not giving a ****"
+ I like the fact CTU is gone and we have really NO clue at all who the leaks are.. because we only know 4 people at the moment, + the hot new fbi chick

One of the exciting parts of all the past 24s was when Jack Bauer went undercover or where working under the radar. Now he is working constantly under the radar

pahud tilts the **** out of me right now, gonna buy hem tomorrow
Hm, the other day a guy moved in one hand from a 22/15 to a 18/3 that was weird

(Also, I don't think I'm the unluckiest player around here; I'm pretty sure that KurtSF and *Split* run worse than I do.)
Always when I whine about my downswing I say to myself: Look at Split, Mpethy or kurt......... and shut up

what the heck is going on. I am on a horrific downswing. Two straight months I am negative on KK and FLOPPED SETS...hard to make a profit when you biggest money makers are you biggest losers.

We should make a thread, .. the "RWTX" thread

Running Worse Then Expected

That way we can scream out our pain of running so terrible without the chat thread being brutalized

But, I know where you are going trough Sammy.
guess: Hang in there, it's all about the long run, it's just variance, and nothing you can do...........................

Re: *****Official February "greatest place on the interwebs" Chat Thread!*****

cool, I will def join

Yeah, today is the new show, I am watching it tomorrow, because then I can download it, so plz don't tell in the chat what happened today haha

The new show is amazing, I really like what they did with tony, I am really curious when we are going to hear what kind of bad stuff he did.. and Jack, Jack is back, back in not-giving-a-damn-i-need-to-do-this mode..

It's absolutely great what they did with season 7, everything goes way faster

Not 14 shows when finally the president knows whats going on, nope, chapter 4, boom.. everything goes in speed again

I am very close to just folding KK to a 3-bet as a matter of course after this weekend. Thinking of just calling and playing for set value. Down 2.5BI and all of that was lost to KK<AA/sets. I feel your pain.

But tomorrow is another day . . . and more fish to fry.

last session I had 4 times KK vs AA, I really start to wonder if it's profitable to go all in with kings..

Most regulars really aren't 4-bet bluffing you and they always show you AA

If you like bad shows you'll love it. It's so stupid and cheesy, oh man. My mom talked about how good it was and when I saw it I couldn't stop laughing. It's like CSI: Miami in terms of cheese.

awesome

on second thought...I think that is bad. I think one of the reason that NL25 and NL50 played a little easier on FTP than PS was that NL25 is only the second level on FTP instead of the 4th on Stars.

Now fish are going to sit down play a few orbits then switch to a NL2 table.

Lol. I remember being top of the world a few days ago, when my bankroll hit a milestone - 1000... I needed to withdraw 200... So that would mean I'd have 800, right? 551 now...

I really thought that I would be able to beat NL25 by now, but clearly this is not true.

Just finished an awesome session...

And NL25 overall. I have never seen such swings on anyones graph over 100k+ sample. There is something I am doing wrong...

Never ending bull****, that Nl25.

You aren't alone Autist, NL25 is giving me some issues too. I only have like 9k hands, but still. Something weird about NL25 that makes it harder than NL10 for some reason, haven't figured out what it is yet.

I would suggest going through PT/HEM and checking the medium/high loosing pots and check that you don't stack of to light or call river bets with weak hands.
And then check winning 20-30bb pots and make sure you got enough value out of them.
Maybe you are playing to fancy b/c some people say you have to start ISOing and 3betting more. Filter out those hands and review how you played them.

move up. NL25 was absolutely evil to me (0.9BB/100 over 44k hands, tg I have rakeback otherwise I'd be stuck there for all eternity), NL50 treated me much much better. I will never, ever, play NL25 again, so help me god.

Autist,

I see you at the tables and I regard you as one of the good 25nl regs, so its kinda heartwarming to know that I'm not the only one going through the same thing. I'm in the same boat as you.

63k hands and I'm down to .88bb/100 from being as high as 4. Now I'm not even rolled for 50nl and I was before.

Well, if they give money in thise few orbits (what they most of the time do) it's fine..

It works either way. People tilting at lower levels and trying to beat 25NL being on tilt, or people that have enough of the kiddie level and try to play higher and try to play suuuuuper fancy there

But maybe you are totally right, hope not
