FWIW, i have a calatrava and there's no way i'd do this.. the only "reasonably priced" patek i think you could pull this off with is a 5712 in steel with a bracelet..

bracelet obvi for casual/sport wear, but it's nice and complicated enough that you could probably wear it with business attire. i'm one of those nits that hates wearing a bracelet in formal clothing though..

KPower,

You have about enough left over for an apple watch. Keep that **** in a box and hope it becomes a collectors thing.

Man, I didn't realize Jomashop had that Zenith Boutique edition. That's a pretty good price for a very nice watch.

Actually just looked into it, and it is a rolex knock-off.. produced by rolex? Seems like a pretty bad idea for the brand but I see theyve been doing it for 70 years and it appears to be working out for them.

lol me I guess.. I suppose it's like a toyota/lexus?

it would look a lot better if it came in a color combination besides "country club superwasp"

Throwing this out there since Google doesnt seem to have the right answer:

I'm gonna be flying through Doha Monday and was looking to purchase this:http://relojesexclusivos.com/en/watc...-07-5-22-14fc/

I found them before in Europe major airports and was wondering if anyone has any info whether they have a shop selling Oris in Hammad airport ?

Thanks

Late but #1 ya. Thought it was super easy but Patek did make me question for a sec, but other two wouldn't get worn so #1 wins overall.

Is there any strategy to buying a specific used watch other than trolling watchrecon/watchuseek/eBay every couple days and eventually getting lucky?

not really for me. Personally I rarely have a specific watch in mind but keep a ball park figure for what watches should cost and pounce if something good comes up.

The other tip I would give is definitely memorize the specific model number as you don't want to get ripped off by a similar watch but in a different size or a quartz version of the same watch or an earlier/later model.

In your opinion, what are the best websites to look for second-hand vintage watches? Is there any non-obvious advice you could offer to avoid people getting scammed?

If by vintage, you mean stuff from over 30 years ago, I have no expertise. You have to really know your stuff.

the only other thing i would recomend is to build a relationship with a reputable buyer, this could even be a B&M re-seller, and let them know you are looking for a specific watch.

I have done this in the past with two people i have bought/traded with and it worked out well.

Research the seller. Know the general market so if a deal seems too good to be true... Keep in mind future service costs.

I missed the debate on the 3 watches for $25k bet. It would have been difficult for me because the JLC is a grail of mine, and yet I really liked the other two watches with the Patek. I expect I will own that Tudor in the next couple years.

Here's what I would do with $25k to spend on watches. I will use any price I can find rather than just jomashop.

1. Jaquet Droz Eclipse Onyx -- $12,121

2. Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon -- $6,795

3. IWC Small Portuguese -- $4015 used (Why do I have to buy new!)

4. Tudor Black Bay Heritage -- $2040 used (Who says I can only have 3?)
