Just ordered this. It's my first manual wind watch. General tips? http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/Na...nding,121.html

I immediately thought Seiko too. That would be a similar style much closer to your price range.

Thanks. I got a reasonable deal, I think. Roughly 20% off MSRP.

I was wandering around airports last week and one of these caught my eye. Looks nice. My "style" (not that I have "style").

So the non baller question is... What is something that looks very similar, but for more like $500.

I think this is the closest thing, though more than you want to spend: Oris Artelier Date. I have it in black, and I went in wanting to spend about $500 before deciding it was worth the extra money. Talked an AD down to $1,250 on it. Here's the $500 watch I was considering before deciding to go all out: Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic.

Yeah, that Hamilton one looks nice. Too. I prefer the Seiko and tag posted because they have less contrast on the face.

Like that oris one is really dark around the edge, then really light in the middle.

And the orient one posted earlier is way off the mark with the blue hands and all the widgets and wot not.

Actually, I might even like those seikos more than the tag I originally posted now. :-D

AR on the crystal looks great. Enjoy people curiously and cautiously touching your watch to make sure there is glass on top on occasion

I think the Oris is one you might want to check out in person. You should be able to find the Oris and Hamilton at a local AD. There is also an Oris Classic Date that doesn't have the different tones in the dial. You also have to decide what size feels/looks best for you. 40mm is the go-to size for me, and is the size of my Oris. This Oris is only 37mm. The Tag you posted is 39, the Seikos posted here are 37 and 38, and the Hamilton is 40. Problem with the Seikos is that the SARBs are only sold in Japan, so you will not be able to try one on before ordering. I actually have a different model SARB coming in probably the end of this week or early next week, so I can let you know what I think of the build and feel even though it will be a different model in the SARB line.

Sure. Tbh I'm in no rush here. If I get one it's going to be a Christmas present to myself. :-P

what do you mean by fashion piece? bad or overpriced movements?

They all look the same to me, but a friend was asking me about them.

not bad, just overpriced IMO.. nothing interesting about it other than it's look.. a lot more interesting pieces for that price point IMO.

don't get me wrong, i still wear mine a few times a year but i wouldn't want that to be my first and only watch.

the chrono for me is down to the B01 breitling transocean and the 3313 seamaster by omega.

Just have to find a time to try them both on.

the panerai was a comment from a frined of mine.

I dislike Panerais and find them to be on the whole overpriced. I think of them as the more affordable Hublot without Hublot's case material innovations.

is there any relationship between blancpain and JLC? the annual calendar w/ moonphase offered by the two look exactly the same.

No relationship in a same company sense.

by the way, for your chrono, I would really consider the sapphire sandwich

handwound chronos just look so much better than an auto chrono from the back

http://forums.watchnet.com/index.php...o=645578&rid=0

though to be fair, no column wheel on the 1863 movement, unlike the 321. But still, you should try them all out.

I've seen the Prometheus Signatura mentioned on this forum a few times. Someone on watchuseek is asking $450 for one in seemingly great condition with a strap and bracelet, and it seems he would take less in an offer.
