Billy Joe Shaver and Jerry Jeff Walker both died recently, both figure very prominently in the history of Texas country music. Shaver meant more to me than Walker but I had a lot of admiration and affection for both this men and their music. I Feel Like Hank Williams Tonight.

You can add Welsh international rugby player John James (“JJ”) Williams to the list. Worrying times for the J middle initialled.

Alfred J Prufrock's showing his age too. Measuring out his life in coffee spoons. Even wearing the bottom of his trousers rolled!

Losing 2 fingers in a sawmill accident and still playing guitar with it is about as country as country gets.

That always seemed like a heavy metal thing to me.

per Wikipedia:

At the age of 17, Tony Iommi (of Black Sabbath) lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand in an industrial accident on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory. Iommi described how he "was told 'you'll never play again'

I believe that the very first movie I saw in a movie theater without my parents was 1965's Thunderball. As much as I love Sean Connery as the original James Bond, (and for my money, he's still the best), my all-time favorite Sean Connery movie is The Man Who Would Be King.

RIP to the king of Kafiristan.

I always loved how no matter what nationality of ethnicity Connery played on screen, he didn't alter his Scottish brogue. He was just that good that he didn't have to.

fascinating how in Hunt for Red October he could seamlessly transition from Scottish-Russian to Russian-Scottish.

A good look at Billy Joe Shaver’s shredded hand (standing with Elizabeth Cook). Notice the bottles in his hands...I thought he quit drinking for Jesus

In “The Untouchables” he does deign to say “Bejesus” in deference to the characters Irish roots. He said it in a Scottish accent, of course.

Hell no! He was always sober! And there has never been a sober Irish person since the Vikings raided their rain-drenched island of shame.

Island of shame? I kinda like the Irish. It took them a while but they kicked the Brits out and then the Romans. Now they're doing OK. Good lesson for all of us. Plus, I like the old Paddy's.

Eddie Hassell, an actor, played in The Kids Are All Right among others, dead at age 30, in suburban Dallas, on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Way too early.

I see that phat gets his Irish history from an almost sober Irishman in a pub. Rome never made it to Ireland, the stench keep them away. The Irish clans did blunder about The British coast about the time Rome pretty much dissolved away from lower England. But all this for a history thread. Don’t wish to muck up death notices of the human rabble.
