I always loved how no matter what nationality of ethnicity Connery played on screen, he didn't alter his Scottish brogue. He was just that good that he didn't have to.

We were talking about that Halloween night. Neighbor was born in Moscow, so I told him he should get a Russian Navy costume to pay tribute. But, he'd have to speak with a Scottish accent, not Russian.

In other death news, Billy Tubbs, former basketball coach at Oklahoma, dead from cancer at 85. I think biggest season was when OU lost to the Danny Manning Kansas team in the NCAA finals.

He was something else.

Best thing I remember is Billy got hit by a car while jogging, spent a few days in the hospital and the next time he stepped on the floor, the opposing team (Colorado?) had students dressed in medical gear and bandages.

And toy cars that they ran into little dolls dressed like Billy.

In 2000 the British Film Institute polled industry professionals to compile a list of what they felt were the greatest British TV programmes ever screened.
Palmer was the only actor to have appeared in all of the top three - Fawlty Towers, Cathy Come Home and Doctor Who.

Happy Friday. Just inhaled a beautiful prime ribeye off the grill and started sucking down a few cocktails. Last week I drank just enough to get a good buzz but not too much too get sloppy or hung over. Hopefully I can strike that perfect balance again although tonight I am drinking gin and that always gets me in trouble.

Fawlty Towers is a must watch. One of the greatest comedies ever. John Cleese at his best with an excellent supporting cast.

Alex Trebek was a great game show host and all but I can't really see how he merits a title thread mention. I mean Wink Martindale was also good at it, hell even old Hugh Downs with Concentration.

Two Canadian Icons gone in one day. 2020 is the worst.

Howie lived a helluva life. War Vet, NHL Rookie of the Year, 3 time Stanley Cup Champion, NHL Coach and GM, Member of Parliament, 30yrs as an NHL Color Commentator, his own Hockey Schools, Author, you name it. Finally met him last year. A few days later his stepson showed up with a bunch of signed hockey cards from him. A true prince to the end.

Alex Trebek was one of those people who were always there, always around for me to watch, for as long as I can remember. You don't realize how much someone like that means to you until he's gone.
