Wow. Could I please run worse in Crabshoots. I'm just losing everything, some things in stupid ways.

I've been sick the last couple of days and my game is really suffering. Making really stupid mistakes. I least I hope that's the reason.

The first round bracket of The Big Seven (pictured below) looks odd for me. Pretty sure it is because of the tiebreaker score taking some space. Also, 14-0 result.

Been there, done that.

pretty lame by Skidmark to not play the last 4 vs TH10 and potentially slow everyone down.

He did the same in the Green Mamba SF vs. me, lost the first 2 and didn't play the 3rd.

Sorry about holding things up. I was on a mini vacation this weekend and lost track of the time left on the tournaments.

anon missed 60k normal score

At first glance the max score with these racks appears to be 61794

That was a really difficult game to get 60k+ score played normally imo. Some quick button-clicking of the puzzle suggested that 61794 might not even be possible.

A couple of interesting spots from tourneys below.

This is pretty sick. The correct play for a DC in a spot like this is probably to go for a 55 last rack. In a tourney game, I don't think so, and I didn't, so obv last rack was 552! Would've been perfect.

This must be close. This is probably almost entirely a math-based choice, but I didn't bother doing any exact math, just figured it was close and chose one option.

The last one seems pretty easy, 1 top, 3 right, 5 center and 2s in left and bottom
Triplechain Quote

oh wait, I see you can potentially get a better third chain by playing 2 right, 1 top, 3 center, 2/5 left and bottom

You will need a 3 in rack 9 or 6s will remain your third chain
Triplechain Quote

Yea, that 3rd chain is something worth considering. As is pairing all 2s right away.

If you pair both 2s, you will be screwed if rack 9 has 2 or more bonus numbers

If my math is correct, that is 54%

I think the best option is what I said first, in the DC or in a tournament game.
Your setup is good, you have maxed 4s, you cannot beat anyone ever that 3-zoned the 6s and you don't have scattered 5s.
Gotta hope for a 2 in rack 9 (60%) and even better 2x2s. I think that is better than hoping for <2 bonus numbers (46%).

derwi and me are currently leading DC with a score that will typically end up 2nd or 3rd.

Two or more 1s without a 2 in last rack is better when pairing all 2s, so that 54 % isn't correct if it is any two bonus numbers.

What are you guys talking about just place some tiles in slots that feel right then bemoan bad luck when it all goes wrong, it gets me by

Ok, so did the math myself after all. And yes, seems like 54 % is for any two bonus numbers.

For this situation I think it is like below.

Pair all 2s in rack 8:
BETTER: ~40 %, no 2s, any amount of 1s
SAME: ~16.5 %, one 2, no 1s
WORSE: ~43.5 %, 21+ or 22+

Don't pair all 2s in rack 8:
BETTER: ~43.5 %, 21+ or 22+
SAME: ~16.5 %, one 2, no 1s
WORSE: ~40 %, no 2s, any amount of 1s

So, yea, really close. Especially when adding in the 3rd chain consideration. Also could be worth considering how you expect your opponent to end up with in their game.

We are just newbies, so we haven't figured out these advanced strategies you are talking about yet.

We need a "when does donk4 overtake me in dc wins" competition.

I think it would be very surprising if I overtake anyone for quite a while.

I'm not sure why you blocked 6s in Round 7. Link to game? Seems like it could be better to play the 2s to right zone and centre zone.

Link

That rack 7 was pretty brutal. Didn't really see any good options there, so I just basically went for the "no 6s in rack 8 please" -play.

Hmmm. I did not anticipate it containing three 2s and no 5s.

Not a fan of your bonus play in Round 1 though. I swap the top and right zones.
