The kids are all on instagram, tumblr or snapchat these days, while everyone's grandpa is on fb. My fb is approximately 35% work, 27% annoying baby brags, 33% adverts, 11% people I'm friends with I forgot who they are, 6% people i want to keep in touch with that fb is the most convenient option for these days.

Basically the internet breaks down like this:

Tumblr: Dr who fans and etsy hangers on
Instagram: selfie narcissists and people who've graduated from commenting on you tube videos
WordPress: self published authors in search of an audience
Twitter: the left wing intelligentsia and leftist frothing at the mouth rage mobs
Facebook: olds and people who don't get the internet
Snapchat: I have nfi
Tinder: young people engaging in all manner of depraved things and probably bringing about the end of civilisation, afaik

Probably missed something

The other day the vicar came round for lunch. At some point he says "who really wants to go to Belgium, I mean, I'd go through Belgium in the way somewhere else", to which I couldn't help but say "pretty much like the Germans". I can't be held responsible for that. Right?

<----facebook
but over 40 so I don't count
and no kids - so that doubly disqualifies me

None of the above.

It's like I do not exist online.

Oh that's right I have a bazillion 2+2 posts - shame on me.

Install a karaoke app. Record your next Taylor Swift duet at the poker table. Share here.

As far as I can tell that originates from a Russian proverb which translates as 'Longing for the past is like chasing after the wind.' It's listed as such on the Spanish-language Wikiquotes Russian Proverbs page anyway.

Google gives the literal translation as 'Longing for the past is vexation'.

Bear in mind I can't speak a lick of Spanish.

Yeah that is what I came up with.

I was hoping someone might have recognised the Russian proverb's geneaology.

I suspect it is biblical but I was hoping for a more contemporary source.
