I did use any gimmicks when I was permabanned to post. I am not 100% sure, but I might used gimmick to send a PM, but I even read forum as a guest then.

Anyway my opinion last night was that if he's been back for over a year and no one has known it was him and there have been absolutely no issues then what is the harm in letting him continue to play.

I haven't read the whole thread but I did see some posts that have raised some issues - a modkill or two etc. That leads me to believe he's still a potential problem and, therefore, should be rebanned.

Short leash also seems fine given the clearly forgiving nature of the community here in general. But short leashes almost never work because any small problem with him will be scrutinized going forward and it results in awkward position of minor violations resulting in a rebanning etc etc.

And with that I'm done with serious posts in this thread and will resume trolling.

BWG didn't even do it on purpose (this actually makes sense; he logged on a gimmick for the next turbo before he knew he had been banned, and found out I'd banned him after the next turbo started), and this was handled admirably by him once we found out. It is not fair to label him a ban evader, or whatever is happening in this conversation.

My point is that people who really care are going to continue doing what dice did here; sign up again. So who is being thwarted by the lack of pardoning precedent? If you pardon dice (and I'm not even arguing he should be pardoned outright, mind you) do you expect a bunch of old banned users will suddenly return or run amok?

No, either they are already here or they stopped caring. Dice, at the least, has been demure about his return, I've never gotten the sense he was a troll or was ruining a game. I consider him a very average POGger and I don't understand the compelling urges some people here have to make sure he stays punished.

Perhaps I am just much more forgiving than many of you but I truly don't understand the mindset. I think punishment should be the absolute last resort, not the rule. And I do believe in second or even third chances for people who aren't causing problems. I think dice qualifies.

Obviously I don't, I'm making a point that perma banning someone who has been fine for a year after circumventing a ban is stupid. And that's basically the only reason people are bringing up to ban him

all I know is that we need an SE mod to take over gimmick hunting for banned posters. I once evaded a ban in SE to post solely in the TEBOW game vs. the lol steelers and some mod got me for a handful of one line gameday posts and extended my regular ban. I even got a seasoned gimmick from wahoopride that was NEVER connected to me and had a 2p2 posting history attached to it and was still sniffed out. POG mods should take lessons from whichever mod got me there.
