The single largest contributor on either side of the fight over Amendment 2, which grants patients with “debilitating diseases” access to medical marijuana, is billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who, new campaign finance filings show, added $1 million to the $4 million he’s already spent in support of the campaign to defeat the measure. Adelson, the chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands and America’s 12th richest person, is responsible for 85 percent of the $5.8 million raised by Drug Free Florida

The greatest part, is that he was, and still is, a large donator to a PRO medical marijuana research facility in Israel. LOL American government. Where most people don't mind corruption. This is all so he can build his casino in Florida, and the outrage is nowhere to be found among the public.

How does stopping pot improve his chances to get a casino? Does he just want people to drown their sorrows at his casino instead of buying pot?

It's a political donation to Rick Scott.

We should point out to those in congress that adelson is pro on medical mj in israel while anti here so his motivation has to be other than what has been stated and thus you have to wonder if his motivation on online poker is also different than what has been stated.

I just had a thought. I am going to check with my local paper to see how much an ad is and try to raise money for it.

After last night I don't think we should expect much out of congress for at least the next couple of years. They'll be too busy with Bengazi hearings, impeachment plans, and daily votes to repeal Obamacare to worry about internet poker.

It's business as usual. Remember, our only heroes in Congress are in the GOP. So while there are indeed foes, this is still an issue only being debated on the right side of the aisle, while the left simply ignores the issue and takes no position.

Also hold our biggest enemies. I don't like our chances. However, the current climate is as close to a federal ban as you can get.

Bill Frist is the whole reason all of this started to begin with. I would love to have the status quo of 5 years ago back.

I hope it is a case of my sarcasm detector failing and you don't really believe this.

I am far from a republican, however, his point is valid. No one on the left care, while we have some on the right that do. never will there be a federal ban, there will always be someone in the mix.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. http://www.onlinepokerreport.com/143...ary-committee/

Also note how the vast majority are republicans.

I hear ya, and they certainly can make life difficult, but ill use bovada as an example. they do great in a bad climate, and will continue to do so, because they don't care what the laws are (for the most part)

tbh I still think we have a better chance at regulated poker in the US with the R's. They go against my politics entirely, but I will say that Christie, the guy from Nevada, and paul are decent advocates for our cause. There are no D's I can say that about

While he cannot get pro online poker legislation passed, I think Harry Reid is still a big roadblock to the opposite passing. What is different than when the UIGEA passed is Caesars wants online poker now while they didn't then.

Hey Everybody,

I was on the front page of drudge, and the main headline is about Lorretta Lynch as the possible new AG. Does anyone have any information on her? Shes from the eastern district of NY, hmm.

Well if Drudge is reporting it then it MUST be true.

I have seen this story floated by several reputable media outlets. I've been digging around while playing but still cannot find anything as far as poker position

Why not write her? I bet you will, at best, get a non-answer answer.

As many have pointed out, the American public is not going to get fired up about online poker. What they will get fired up about is gross hypocrisy. As someone else mentioned, we need to get a talk show personality to champion our cause. We could email the writers or employees of the shows – if they got several, it would be hard to ignore. Shows like Rush, Hannity, O’Reilly, The Daily Show, and Colbert (for a little longer, anyway).

Adelson is already on Jon Stewart’s radar. In this video, Stewart rants about how hypocritical Harry Reid is for calling out the Koch Brothers for spending billions on politics, but giving Adelson a free pass. Then he goes on a little about Adelson’s hypocrisy. Watch Part 2 of this video -- http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewa...-koch-attacks/

I sent this message via Facebook (even paid $1 so it didn’t go to their junk mail) to the head writer of Colbert:

Quote:
Good evening,
I’ve never suggested anything like this before, but this situation has Colbert Report written all over it. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is about to introduce a bill that would make online gambling illegal on a federal level. The hypocrisy around this is crazy. First of all, he is being backed by billionaire CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corporation (Venetian), Sheldon Adelson. Adelson claims to be morally opposed to online gambling because it is too convenient for people. It takes effort to go into a casino, he says – that is the difference.
Secondly, Graham was all about states’ rights when Harry Reid tried to pass a federal bill making internet gambling (poker only) legal.
One of Adelson’s big catch phrases is “click a mouse, lose your house.” An awesome segment would be to approach Senator Graham about introducing a bill that would make online ordering of food illegal -- because it’s just too convenient. The catchphrase would be “click a mouse, you’re as big as a house!” Someone could approach him with something like, “You’re a Republican, so you obviously love freedom, but you also know when the line needs to be drawn. Obesity in America is an epidemic, and we need the government’s help!”
Please let me know if you would be interested in doing something like this, or feel free to just run with it. Thanks so much for your time.
