FYI: This thread is for Apple fan boys who bemusedly tolerate a small minority of eccentric linux users. So no more Windows talk.

A good contractor, but very lazy, is getting let go in 2 weeks as his contract is up. He told his project lead he didn't want any real tasks with deadlines the last two weeks as he needs to look for a job. The project lead said fine just don't show up and we won't pay you. The contractor was cool with that.

Buuuuut - we're paying him anyway because apparently it's too much red tape to change his end date. So now he's showing up just wandering around the office socializing. Meantime we're letting good people go and trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip with our SQA team due to budget concerns.

Big companies are surreal.

Lol. This would probably make a good thread topic.

At one of my previous jobs I ended up on the social committee after drunkenly betting one of our VPs about a project deadline and getting him to buy the office a bunch of **** as a result.

We were planning a company party and had a non-refundable contract that included an open bar. Shortly after we signed the contract the company announced a bunch of budget cutting measures. So when our CFO found out that we had an open bar planned he thought it looked bad and made us tell everyone that it was only 2 free drinks per person. We had to give out tickets and everything.

Of course since it was actually an open bar the tickets meant nothing and we ended up just having someone around the bar giving 'extras' out to anyone that needed one.

Unfortunately, I need to use Windows for certain things. I'd be more than happy to nuke it and install linux. I can't dual-boot this stupid computer.

Today at work I needed an Angular tree control that supported dragging/dropping between two trees, so I grabbed this one. I wanted the drag-drop to be one-way, so I needed to disable dropping on one of the two trees.

Docs are on the linked page. First person to explain to me how to disable dropping onto a tree wins a prize*. Anyone who has used the control before is ineligible. Aaaaaand.... go.

* there is no prize

Small minority of Linux users (which includes me) have a great potential to be negatively impacted by secure boot. Mac users not so much.

Why do you say state that? I don't think it is good if you customize a version of Linux that is perfectly fine and can't boot your system because secure boot won't let you.

and people that want it will always have it.
Actually there isn't a lot of demand for it from what I can tell.

Not really sure why Microsoft would go out of their way to disable it.
They don't go out of their way, they would prefer that users couldn't disable it but Windows 7 is incompatible with secure boot.

What disease?
The disease, booting a corrupted OS. However, the cure can also inhibit booting of non corrupted OSs.

Let me get this straight, FTEs are being laid off while the contractor gets to designate the nature of his assignments and hang out for two weeks doing whatever. Is that what is happening?

No FTE's are getting worked to the bone, while other good contractors are getting let go and replaced by offshore/onshore devs who we basically have to train from jr. jr. developer. Right now my department is on a kick about SQA costs - so they're getting worked to death when we obviously need more SQA on the project.

It doesn't help their morale that their boss does almost nothing. Not kidding, he really does nothing. SQA is very independent and know what they're doing. But they need someone in the actual office to sign their timecards apparently. So we have some guy making like $180k who everyone is pretty sure does absolutely nothing. It's the running joke of the office among the non-managers.

He does stuff like leave a half full glass of orange juice on his desk, a satchel open, and sets his screen set to never go into screen-saver mode - so it looks like he's still there. Then he walks out at 3 looking at his phone like he's taking some important email, and never comes back.

Well if their documentation is correct - set data-nodrop-enabled="true" on the source tree and data-drop-enabled="true" on the target tree?

I'm afraid you need remedial. data-nodrop-enabled only works on ui-tree-nodes, which is, and I quote the docs, "a container of nodes". data-drop-enabled works on a ui-tree, which is the level above.

Honestly you're pretty close though. My first effort, which was probably dumb, was to set data-drop-enabled = "false" on the ui-tree. This seemed logical. However it did not work. I consulted the docs, which said:

Quote:
false (default): turn off
true: turn on no drop
true = turn on no drop? Wat? So data-drop-enabled = "true" means turn off data-drop? OK, sure. Whatever bros. So I tried it again and it did not work. So I consulted the docs again:

Quote:
data-drop-enabled

Turn on the ability to prevent dropping of nodes into this tree.
Oh. So looking at ui-tree-nodes settings, I then get this:

Quote:
data-nodrop-enabled

Turn off drop of nodes.
Note, not data-drop-enabled = false, or data-drop-disabled = true, but "data-nodrop-enabled=true".

So the answer is, set data-drop-enabled = "true" on the ui-tree and data-nodrop-enabled = "true" on the ui-tree-nodes, both for the destination tree. The idea of this is: for the tree, turn the ability for data-drop to be modified on (off by default, because being able to configure things is bad?) then for the node collection (which sits beneath the tree root, for some reason?) turn ON the ability to NOT drop items.

I have to admit... I wouldn't be able to answer this.

As long as the person asking it was good (as in looking to start a discussion instead of looking for a 'right' answer) - I bet you could answer that.
