You're mistaken, England was so furious after realizing how much better we are at goalie than them that they called up the first American they could find. That's Taylor Twellman.

Any who says the USAs weak spot is offense probably should sit in the corner in shame. Our problems are obviously in the backline. If you're saying anything else you're just ****ing clueless.

Yep. And I still believe we can trot out a semi-decent back line by the time June rolls around.

So it looks like we are going to be screwed by the pots. They are going to put us with 7 of the 10 worst teams in the tournament. Here is a simulator, it take multiple tries to find a group that is just ok, but really there are more really terrible groups than ok groups. http://ultra-zone.net/2014-FIFA-Worl...up-Stage-Draws

because FIFA is massive AIDS and ****ed up pot 1 the only way to avoid a group that will just rape with the US in it is to bink like Switzerland or one of the ****ty 2 or 3 pot 4 teams.

Yeah it really sucks and makes no sense that they only seed pot one. They should just seed all pots and then follow geographical restrictions while drawing teams-- if a team is drawn into a place it can't go, you just move it down the board until it can go somewhere.

I wonder if they even consider how unfair this is to the teams in pot one. I see teams like Costa Rica and Iran getting tossed into someone's group and then the next team is the US. It's near guaranteed that we, as the best team in our pot, get screwed, but that means others are getting royally screwed as well. And there's just no reason for it to be like this, it's kinda like playing in NFL season, giving like the best two teams byes and drawing the rest of the matchups. Why would you ever do something like this when a more fair way exists?

What also sucks, and could only ever be true of FIFA, is that they don't fully decide how they are going to do these things until after the competition has begun.

The US will always have a tough group when our pod consist of countries from concacaf & asia.

I still don't see a logical reason why they don't draw the groups (w/ no pods) straight from rankings OR all pods are seeded and match ups are drawn regardless of geography.

Did it and got Spain, USA, Ghana, Bosnia. Mexico's group had Swiss, Netherlands, and Ecuador. Group of death is non-existent as best I can tell.

full draw was

Brazil, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Italy
Belgium, Japan, Nigeria, France
Uruguay, Costa Rica, Cameroon, Portugal
Argentina, Iran, Algeria, Croatia (lol, group of EASY for reals?)
Spain, USA, Ghana, Bosnia
Colombia, Australia, Russia, England
Swiss, Mexico, Ecuador, Netherlands
Germany, Honduras, Chile, Ukraine

Seems like a fair draw if it came out this way except for lol Argentina's group?

Second time came out Germany, USA, Chile, Netherlands OUCH. Third time Uruguay, USA, Algeria, Croatia one time dealer? Fourth time Spain, USA, Chile, Italy please god no.

Just did it once and group D was Switzerland, Chile, Honduras and Croatia. I'll be real sad if we are in a group that only the Grim Reaper himself could have come up with, while that group exists.

Did it like 100 times. Lots of really bad groups. Some surprisingly weak ones. Getting stuck with Italy or the Dutch is real bad. Picking up Argentina or Colombia, then slamming Russia in that third pot plus Italy/Dutch bad too. Not getting a weak team in pot three is a nightmare. Like our team a lot but there are lots and lots of group combinations that put us under 50% to advance.

If given an option between random group play and a knockout match against France for the right to advance past the group stages, it looks like the latter would be the choice to me. And that sucks. Here's hoping for another 2010 draw.

Argentina, USA, Ghana, Netherlands! WTF!!!!!!

Best case scenario is:

Switzerland, USA, Algeria, Ukraine I think.
