if smith doesn't get hurt the niners also win by 20+

edit: one of the best defensive players in the nfl got hurt right before an enormous comeback but i can't figure out any way in which the pats might have gotten lucky

Yeah, I watched the game. Seemed like Kaepernick made some terrible mistakes to allow New England to stay in the game, but everyone else on the offense was so good that it didn't matter. And they obviously played a little soft on D too when they got up by 28. Basically, it looked like New England >>>>> San Francisco at QB, and San Francisco >>>>> New England everywhere else. I know QBs are big in the NFL, but they're not bigger than everyone else on the team combined.

Without looking it up arent the majority of fumbles between the center and the quarterback recovered by the offense? Seems to be something the butthurt Patriots fans are just flat out ignoring. Also the one fumble on 4 and inches was just as good as a lost fumble.

A barely missed onside kick = a horribly missed onside kick

And I have to wonder about the level of difficulty. I mean I'm sure its difficult, but it seems weird that a kicker putting his foot to the middle of the ball and aiming at an upman would be more difficult than nipping the top of the ball and getting a perfect bounce at the right time while going 10 yards.

There is the problem of if the receiving team could get a fair catch signal granted on a liner tho

i'll say this, seeing how surgically brady picked them apart (lol PI aside) in the 4th is a huge cause for concern going forward. defense got gassed in a ****ing hurry, a problem not really helped by the offense going 3 and out repeatedly. suddenly i'm actually kinda concerned about a potential atlanta/sf matchup.

as an aside, i'm not sure who was more rattled tbh, kapernick or roman. i don't fault the conservative playcalling up 28, i kinda don't fault it up 21, once it got to 14 it looked like they were just completely shook and refused to throw the ball for any reason. calling timeout to have a 5 yard checkdown was just absurd

Only a little? Why would they switch out of man when it was working?

look the point is that goat belichick used his voodoo powers to cause 4 fumbled snaps which is not at all variance and the niners ran supermegahot to recover all 4

Sure, but it certainly didn't go well. Of course, the offense not being able to stay on the field didn't help matters. I had the 49ers winning the NFC, but as you've said, I'm more concerned about an ATL match up after tonight.

Kap missing wide open players is not variance, lol. The guy can run and is good looking and marketable so the guys calling the game make him out to be a lot better than he is. the guy is a very average QB.

really average? average starting QB? if that's the case, that's pretty great. CK didn't play well but most QBs have played awful in Foxboro in December over the last 10 seasons. CK looks pretty good for his 5th start all time in the NFL. I guess if he's average now, he has a lot of upside.

i wonder what would have happened if Justin had stayed in the game. Whatever, 9ers win and I'm happy.

did you miss the 49ers bobbling all those punts? not to mention the fair catch ball that hit the guys leg and someone was kept by SF?
