I expected you'd say that. You obviously have never watched Pompey play over the past two seasons then.

"Makes sense, Tottenham is more or less the Premiership's crap/past it England player depository"

Was the original quote. Those three players are a long way from Premiership crap. They have been huge for Pompey over the past year and a half.

And how having a total of three former Internationals in a cosmopolitan squad makes you a "depository" is beyond me.

Indeed Spurs was the original quote, and they don't have any former England internationals in their squad - at least not until Robonson is dropped in the next squad.

Hence my comment - DUCY?

I see why you added the comment. It jumped into your head and you posted it without thinking. Still pretty inaccurate though - as I have shown.

Jesus. No it isn't. There are NO former England internationals in the Spurs team, but THREE in the Pompey team. Never mind the facts, just spout opinions eh?

Caretaker manager for a day?!?!?!?!

Quote:
Leeds United assistant manager Dave Bassett has left the club.

Bassett's departure follows that of former boss Dennis Wise who, on Monday, announced he was joining Kevin Keegan's new regime at Newcastle United.

The former Nottingham Forest manager arrived at Elland Road in November as a replacement for Gus Poyet, who is now assistant coach at Tottenham.

Technical director Gwyn Williams will take charge of Tuesday's League One game at Southend United.

Newcastle announced the appointment of Wise, 41, as an executive director for football at St James' Park on Tuesday.

Bassett, who has been in charge at eight different clubs during a 26-year managerial career, worked alongside Wise at Wimbledon, Leicester and Southampton.

The 63-year-old was contracted with the club until the end of the season and was expected to take charge of the team for Tuesday's trip to Southend.

Some Leeds fans blamed Bassett's arrival for the club's poor results since the autumn. They have lost five of their last 16 league games, slipping from second to fifth in the table.

hey. new to the thread and a yank soccer fan.

Can someone please explain to me why Wise to move to Newcastle? Leeds has tons of supporters, have as of now a few quid to spend on talent and a history of sucess. Why not just stick it out and get to the premiership in a few years?

Oh and can someone also tell me why my beloved Liverpool suck so hard this year??

BS-

For the same reason they sucked last season, the season before that, the one before that .......
They think they have a god-given right to be at the top and don't have to try too hard.
For all you Liverpool fans: "The 70s and 80s are over a long time ago".

Pissed I missed the game today, but looks like a good result and I'm downloading it now.

Looking at the schedule, I noticed two things: it's going to suck to play a tough game at Man U right before we play Milan and we have 4 game stretch near the end of the season where we play at Chelsea, at Bolton, home vs. 'Pool, and at Man U. Will most likely be a sick, sick stretch to decide the campaign.

Because the minute Poyet left for Spurs, Leeds have gone backwards. The Leeds fans are bouncing that he's gone, which considering their position on day one, says a lot about what they think of old wobby eyes.

While the top of the league is as boring and predicatable as ever, the foot of the table looks like being the most exciting for many a year. While Derby have gone, Keegan showing up at Newcastle has probably dragged them into an 8 way battle to beat the drop.

Latest Table:

1 Arsenal 57
2 Man Utd 54
3 Chelsea 50
4 Everton 42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 Aston Villa 41
6 Liverpool 40

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7 Man City 40
8 Blackburn 38
9 Portsmouth 37
10 West Ham 33
11 Tottenham 27
12 Newcastle 27
13 Middlesbrough 25
14 Sunderland 23
15 Bolton 22
16 Reading 22
17 Birmingham 20

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18 Wigan 20
19 Fulham 16

20 Derby 7

Tottenham have confirmed that Alan Hutton has completed his move to White Hart Lane from Rangers.

The two clubs agreed a £9million fee early in the transfer window before the Scotland international initially rejected the opportunity to join the Premier League side.

But after having another change of heart, Hutton has now become Juande Ramos' third signing of the transfer window after the arrivals of Jonathan Woodgate and Chris Gunter.

A statement on Spurs' official website confirmed: "We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Glasgow Rangers for the transfer of Alan Hutton."

Hutton is now set to make his Premier League debut in Saturday's clash with Manchester United at White Hart Lane.
