Was the original quote. Those three players are a long way from Premiership crap. They have been huge for Pompey over the past year and a half.

And how having a total of three former Internationals in a cosmopolitan squad makes you a "depository" is beyond me.

It's truly bizarre. I expect Keegan to leave before the start of next season. Leeds have now lost Poyet, Wise and Dave Basset has walked as well. So much for their promotion push.

Newcastle announced the appointment of Wise, 41, as an executive director for football at St James' Park on Tuesday.

Bassett, who has been in charge at eight different clubs during a 26-year managerial career, worked alongside Wise at Wimbledon, Leicester and Southampton.

The 63-year-old was contracted with the club until the end of the season and was expected to take charge of the team for Tuesday's trip to Southend.

Some Leeds fans blamed Bassett's arrival for the club's poor results since the autumn. They have lost five of their last 16 league games, slipping from second to fifth in the table.

Yeah great goal, good 3 points for ye, i hate having to hope for ye win the League so early in the season. Don't want it going to Man Utd or Chelsea anyways.

hey. new to the thread and a yank soccer fan.

Can someone please explain to me why Wise to move to Newcastle? Leeds has tons of supporters, have as of now a few quid to spend on talent and a history of sucess. Why not just stick it out and get to the premiership in a few years?

Oh and can someone also tell me why my beloved Liverpool suck so hard this year??

Pissed I missed the game today, but looks like a good result and I'm downloading it now.

Looking at the schedule, I noticed two things: it's going to suck to play a tough game at Man U right before we play Milan and we have 4 game stretch near the end of the season where we play at Chelsea, at Bolton, home vs. 'Pool, and at Man U. Will most likely be a sick, sick stretch to decide the campaign.

While the top of the league is as boring and predicatable as ever, the foot of the table looks like being the most exciting for many a year. While Derby have gone, Keegan showing up at Newcastle has probably dragged them into an 8 way battle to beat the drop.
