Didn't go to the game but I would guess it was "sit down you paedophile" as it seems to get sung by many teams fans when playing the Arse (no idea why - seriously).

Most teams have a minority of idiots singing tasteless stuff, they are usually the ones that also provide most of the atmosphere. Just the way it is. BUt I'm sure that ledders the dumb southern **** already knows that

ragshaft, i dont know or care who you support. Your response smacks of somebody who has NO idea, who is miles away from understanding the rivalry that exists between these two clubs.
United know that minutes silence has little chance of passing off peacefully and their marketing machine will go into overdrive off the back of it.
Dont be fooled mate. the best result for united would be for city to turn up and chant m-nich songs throughout that minute. The global sympathy they would recieve would be on a par with that of `58

The headlines have already been written. The media are begging for this and unfortunately, after what i`ve heard today, i dont think they`re going to be disapointed.

every club has its idiots. The biggest wrong here is that this has been allowed to happen. It should`ve been switched

Ledders, for the first time this season i was stone cold sober, i sit right next to the away end and i did not here any chants about arsene wenger. what i saw was many city fans clapping eduardo when he scored despite it being off side. No team recieves the respect arsenal do from the city fans when they play up here. Ask Thiery Henry.
Who routinely got a standing ovation whenever he came across to take a corner

ragshaft, why is it unacceptable to you for anybody to post about an issue involving two premier league teams in a thread entitled offical premier league 07/08 thread?

Raju, the fact you and disturbance can't even put my nickname down without trying to turn it into some inane insult gives me all I need to know abnout your intelect.

I presume by "rag"shaft you assume I am a Man U fan. Your simplistic reasoning doesn't surprise me. I support Aberdeen, & Bolton in England.

Man, this is a footballing topic

Every team has rivalries, Man U v Man City is in no way unique, or for that matter by any means the biggest.
So lets say It was the Rangers team on that plane; how would Celtic react if they had to play them on the 50th anniversary? Or River plate if Boca`s team died in that crash? I think you probably dont get this because Bolton have no strong rivalry with anybody, as for Aberdeen i haven't a clue and so your take on what should or shouldnt happen next week is never going to be based on any real understanding of the route issues.

What utter nonsense. Marketing what exactly? Marketing, you don't even know the meaning of the word ffs.
Marketing the brand that is manchester united football club. Like it or not united made a ton of money from the sympathy they received after that dreadful crash and they will no doubt make a ton more when the worlds press print how its 50th anniversary was ruined by the mindless morons at Manchester City.
If they were playing say, Bolton the headlines would be nothing like as dramatic (as no rivalry exists between united and Bolton so the minutes silence would be immpecably observed) and therefore the sympathy that club received would not be as intense and the opportunity to market their brand would be markedly lessened.

which is why i said:

It appears then that you're living up to your reputation. You're not embarassed I presume?
Embarrassed? I think we`re damned if we do and damned if we dont. Embarrassed doesnt really cover it. We as City fans have to live and work amongst these jokers day in day out throughout our entire lives and are now being FORCED to show respect for a club and a group of people we (generally) hate with a passion you, as a Bolton fan are never likely to experience or understand.

Clearly Man U and Man City as well, assumed that the fans would have the decency to respect the commemoration of Manchester's greatest sporting tragedy. Clearly they underestimated the ignorance of the Man City fans.

Well, ive already explained why i think united are more than happy to have City come and mess it up.
City on the other hand assumed nothing like what you suggest. They, like united, know it will more likely than not be disgraceful and have tried to avert the problem in many ways.
One i haven't mentioned is the way they`ve distributed our allocation.
Firstly they upped the points requirement needed to purchase a ticket for the derby to a level which excludes anyone who hasnt held a season ticket since 1958 and then they Quadrupled the allocation sent to "trusted" supporters clubs in an attempt to keep the mindless section of fans away from the game

And it was manchester uniteds greatest sporting tragedy not Manchesters

FFS, the dumb southern **** line was a joke in response to your highly enlightened stupid nothern twats comment. Lighten up. As for the benefit comment, LOL. I won't bother getting into an economic discussion but let's just say Manchester contributes the most to the English economy outside of the SE.

As for the Munich song, I don't sing it at matches, it was posted as a wind-up, it's been deleted. MOVE ON.

Oh and **** Man United (this week's reason is for demanding City fans observe the Man U self-love minute before the game this weekend. I hope city fans boycott it (an away end full of empty seats speaks, maybe one banner saying "not our tragedy") and City then go on to win again.

Damn I'm cranky today for someone whose team is top of the Premiership.

The Benjani saga continues. It seems the deal is back on with the fee around £4m (rising based on appearances) after the PL allowed the 2 clubs to continue negotiations. Looks like Portsmouth and Redknapp backed themselves into a corner after trying to pull a fast one as they were hardly in a strong position to negotiate, it was obvious they were desperate for money to fund a permanent transfer of Defoe (who currently is only on loan). Redknapp was bragging in the media the other day about doubling his money on the sale, unlucky son!

Makes a farce of the transfer window, when the FA have already said the forms arrived too late, now they are not too late??

Anyway, I think Pompey must be pretty happy with this. Man City have signed a guy with a dodgy knee, and got a decent fee for him. Meanwhile they've traded up for Defoe.

Used car salesman Harry, says £9m Benjani out, and £9 Defoe in.

It's on the official site

I think it's good business at that price as we do need cover up front. Bojinov is back in training but not match fit yet. I doubt Benjani will make it to 75 appearances as Sven will go after his first choice targets again in the summer.

At that price then it's not a bad deal. Why was £9m ever being quoted then? Or was that just gob****e Redknapp blowing off as usual?

EDIT: from the beeb
Quote:
Zimbabwe striker Benjani's protracted move from Portsmouth to Manchester City has been resolved with Pompey to receive an initial fee of £3.87m.

The 29-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with City after passing a medical on Monday.

If Benjani makes 75 senior starts Pompey will receive a total of £7.6m.

Not sure, I think the initial fee that was agreed was higher than £3.8m. Then after the deal failed to go through on deadline day the PL's position was that they would prefer a deal to still be done (rather than a protracted argument between the clubs, possible court action etc.) so they allowed renegotiation of the fee and terms. This is only what I've heard and may not be 100% fact.

There are also rumours that Redknapp deliberately ensured Benjani arrived late so that a full medical could not be completed given his past history, one thing is true that he didn't allow him to stay in Manchester after Pompey played United on the Wednesday which would have avoided the travel ****-ups on the Thursday. It's all very odd.
