There is another "real person" except this person names his source and is actually known to be extremely plugged in to Michigan. You are so. ****ing. stupid.
Seriously do you really think your advisory board will report another failure? How does the Kool-Aid taste lemmings?

Normally I would say this is just poor trolling but I've unfortunately actually read most of this dude's terrible posts over the years. He's dead serious.

Reporters get told a ton of stuff when big jobs are open, the good ones are able to filter the BS out instead of just blurting out everything as if it were fact. Gil Brandt is obviously not a good one.

My friend works for NFL Network and reported on the Ian Rapoport info that Michigan left their conversation believing Harbaugh wanted to stay in the NFL. He also said that this won't be the last we hear of Harbaugh and Michigan because even the NFL people think Michigan is going to go hard after Harbaugh until they hear a firm no.

There's no doubt that Harbaugh's people are telling people he wants to stay in the NFL. What we don't know is the motivation for that. It could be that he truly wants to stay in the NFL. It could be that he wants to go to Michigan and wants to keep it quiet so it doesn't get screwed up. I have no idea how likely either of those things are, and I doubt anyone but Harbaugh knows at this point.

What is clear to me is that Michigan is still pushing for Harbaugh and Harbaugh hasn't said no. And I strongly believe that if Harbaugh knew he absolutely wasn't going to Michigan, he would have told Michigan so they could move on. Harbaugh loves Michigan, that much is clear. He's not going to drag this on and hurt Michigan's search unless he has legitimate interest.
Now this is a real post!!

Agreed that he might not have had a source inside your program - but he might have had one on the other side. In between his ramblings Cowherd has been saying there would be a A-/B+ level coach offered the job this week. maybe this was the one.

Thanks for the read nose. Funny how anyone that isn't spewing the same nonsense you all expound isn't relevant. Maybe the answer is to get your circle jerk threads to be invitation only.

Why would he need a source inside Michigan? If they reached out to Cutcliffe, there are plenty of people around him that could have leaked the info. During coaching searches, almost all of the credible info comes from the other side. Look at Nebraska, they didn't have a clue about Mike Riley. The first guys to report Riley to Nebraska were the national guys. As an Arkansas fan, we have had our share of coaching searches in the last few years. Our last three coaches we hired, Petrino, Smith, and Bielema, the national guys were the ones that broke the news first and our local guys didn't have a clue. Unless it is a situation like Florida and McElwain where there is a clear target, more than likely your Michigan people don't know anything outside of Harbaugh.

Sigh the first guys is bull****. The national guys were also first to Jim Tressel amongst a few other nonsense candidates.

Like at a real basic level, do you really think that Michigan offered Duke guy before getting an answer from Harbaugh? If not, then you should familiarize yourself with actual Michigan sources, guys with a long track record of success, that say he's the first choice and there's no answer yet.

The only possible thing that happened with Cutcliffe was some preliminary interest gauging as a backup candidate. There's 0 chance he was offered the job.

The biggest reason not to believe Grant is that there's plenty of people like Webb, Brian Cook, etc that we know ARE very connected and would know. When some random dude is reporting something that doesn't make much sense, and nobody in touch is- that should weight your skepticism pretty heavily.

Just feels like another agent trying to get paid leveraging the fact that Michigan is chilling and waiting.

Michigan's Scout.com guy, Sam Webb, is as well-sourced as anyone can possibly be in terms of Michigan football. He nailed the RR hire, Beilein hire, Hoke hire, and Hoke firing. A big part of that is that he reports responsibly and he even sits on stories out of respect for his sources, like he did with Hoke being fired. He went to school with Michigan's long-time RB coach and he is good friends with many former players who are involved in the program. There have never any big surprises when it comes to major Michigan football news, and Sam Webb is a big reason why.

Meanwhile (re: bolded), you have coaches' agents putting out stories that they are being contacted by Michigan, Florida, etc. They then get raises and extensions. There may be some truth to these coaches being contacted, but their agents have every reason to embellish or outright lie about the nature of that contact. This **** happens during every big coaching search, it's not something specific to Michigan.

Cutcliffe seems like the type that would turn down Michigan so Michigan should be glad they didn't actually offer.

Spoke to Duke’s David Cutcliffe. He hasn’t talked to Michigan nor has Duke AD Kevin White. No job offered to turn down. Content at Duke.

@mortreport
To be clear, there has been zero contact between Michigan and Duke’s David Cutcliffe. No third party contact, even through search firm
Shocking
