The Pruitt stuff is most likely not true. He started dating a 27 yo in athletic dept, so she left the dept. they are now engaged. All just rumors and defamation is what it appears like so far.

Or some next level **** by UGA, building up the man's street cred.

Vaguely recall that at most schools you are really just not supposed to date your current students who you are grading (this was A-OK at my school, however). Texas only punished Applewhite because they'd fired some chick track coach for banging one of her runners, and she was suing. It was in the file that the qb coach had tapped a member of the spirit squad or something on a bowl trip--close enough. Idiot had self-reported, ffs!

It came up with Meyer because he's a sanctimonious prick and once he left Florida they no longer felt the need to overlook things. Actually, I guess it was around when he stopped winning all the time.

It came up with Bielema because he looks like a train wreck of a scumbag and nobody likes to get dumped by someone like that.

It's official. Derek Mason is the new Vanderbilt head coach.

I was, in fact, making a funny. I love my school and team but I also have a realistic view of the sordid underbelly of college athletics.

Yes, very happy with the hire. Seems like a great guy with a great defensive mind.

I do hope he brings in an OC (or promotes Herb Hand) who is more spread oriented than the Manball we've seen from Stanford. Vandy just can't recruit the horses to win that way in the SEC.

Karl Dorrell (former UCLA HC, NFL experience as QB coach) named OC at Vanderbilt. I know nothing about him, but assume this means we won't be running a spread offense or any of that newfangled razzmatazz.

OK, read up on Dorrell and not impressed. Apparently favors a version of the West Coast offense too complicated for college players (of course, Franklin also favored the West Coast offense; but I hated it then too) and combines that with a demeanor too laid back and cerebral to make a good recruiter. Seems to have been hired based mostly on having been OC at NAU when Mason played there.

Consensus on UCLA boards seems to be: Nice guy, not much of a coach.

Are all college vacancies filled? I can't think of any major ones that aren't filled already.

SC still has an interim coach, they just don't know it yet.

Florida is functionally open.

@McMurphyESPN: Joker Phillips forced to resign at UF by Will Muschamp because of Phillips' possible NCAA recruiting violations source told @espn

Lulz

Like no way Muschamp still has a job after this year, right?

Tweet was rescinded with regard to recruiting violations, says it was just a family matter or something. Chris Leak taking his spot with the WRs.

This will have little to do with why Muschamp will get fired at the end of the year

Would be amazing, though, if he manages to get the Gators put on probation while sucking worse than anyone since the 70s.

So who in the PAC hires Muschamp in 2016?

The Pac12's thing is hiring GOOD coaches.

If Muschamp gets ****cannaed at Florida I have to think he's got more of a future as a high profile DC than a head coach.

It's a tough year for Muschamp to be on the bubble with Bama, UT and FSU all on the road to go with LSU and USCe at home and UGA in Jax. Rest of the schedule is favorable but imo UF needs to win at least three of those six games for Muschamp to survive. All of those games are losable.

"Losable" is pretty generous.

You're really putting UT as a possible loss, but not Vandy?
(hint: one of them beat Florida on the road last season)
NCAA Football Coaching Carousel Quote

vandy lost their coach didn't they?
NCAA Football Coaching Carousel Quote
06-18-2014 , 02:45 AM
Vandy hired a quite good replacement, thank you very much. Still coming off a road win against UF and 3 straight bowls.

UT hasn't beaten Florida in a decade, with even Muschamp's teams winning by 2 TDs. They also have no QB and lost the Oline (only good part of the team)

Fine, switch those two around and you still got the same record for muschump. FU ain't winning more than 6-7 games next year.
