Great fight by Khabib, once the fight hit the mat Gaethje had nothing as he had no BJJ. Sad that we won't ever see Ferguson vs Khabib.

Retiring as the GOAT imo, gg Khabib

Retires after 29 consecutive matches where there was no doubt who won is a pretty baller move

Put it at 25% that he stays retired and doesn’t go for 30-0

I respect khabib decision .
Imo he should live the life he wants not his parents wishes but anyway .
Amazing fighter .
Hopefully the need will reappear around 35 years old

I feel like he's going to stick to his word and can't be lured back by money.

They always come back. Eventually the emotion will subside and the money will talk.

If Mcgregor beats poirier, khabib v mcgregor II would make both fighters $60+ mil each.

It would be the easiest $60 mil khabib would ever make

That's not actually true though. Most people thought Tibau beat him. 5 of the 6 media outlets that scored it did not have Tibau losing a round. That was 12 fights ago though. My point in bringing this up is that Khabib has evolved to become a much better fighter than he once was and whether or not he had losses early in his career is pretty irrelevant in regards to how great he has become.

Khabib doesn't care about the money whatsoever although I could see him justifying coming back for the good of what he can do with the money.

They ALWAYS come back. Nothing said in the ring post fight ever amounts to anything. If anything this will serve to create more hype.

I'm less optimistic about him coming back. I feel he's a man of his word.

Yeah I dont get Khabib not wanting that fight again - make a mint of money, a fight you cant lose, and you get the enjoyment of beating up a guy you hate. What am I missing?

Sad to see the GOAT go but 29-0 and having cleared the division is pretty great.

He promised his mother, I feel like this is the rare time a fighter stays retired.

he doesn't want to give more money and attention to someone he considers human garbage?

You are missing that he has more money than he will ever need/want/use, he could actually lose that fight, and he gets more enjoyment leaving McGregor in the past than he would from beating his face in or making him tappity McTapper again.

Im definitely leaning towards him staying retired at 29-0 but a part of me thinks he would still love to get 30-0 but he doesnt want that fight to be against just another #1 contender. I think GSP is his dream opponent because he talked about it so much. I dont think he would rematch Conor unless Conor wins the vacant title and defends it like 2 times to set up the biggest fight in MMA history.

He really wanted that GSP fight Dana would not give him as LW Champ.

As a one off big money super fight, it makes all the sense in the world now. Set at 165lb catch weight.

As advertised. He's three levels above this tough ass journeyman. GOAT versus journeyman. Who do you like? The line whiffs it by miles.

Khabib is a different kind of animal mentally, but I still think its very possible he will fight again. And lose ... down the line a ways. About 33% chance he fights again in my book, but not soon.

???? McGregor gave him his toughest fight. Now Khabib is going to retire, lose his one-track intensity, come back way softer, and beating Conor is easy?? Two or three years from now, Conor could knock him out. Do you mean easy money for one night or easy victory?

yeah conor is still a legit opponent for khabib imo

if one exists

no there was one early on very close, up for grabs with the judjges, and Khabib showed his heart, leapt and fell on the mat prostrate and in tears ... the heart of a champion not yet the champ ... it looked weird but nowadays makes sense ... he had this very plan that he's pulled off. GOAT First Balloter.
