A lot of fighters don’t seem to understand if you win 2/3 or 3/5 rounds close and lose the other 1/3 or 2/5 convincingly, you’re going to lose the fight a majority of the time because two of the judges only have to get one of two or one of three close rounds wrong.

Yeah, I get it you’re winning the fight, so you don’t think you need to take the final round, but even losing a close round final might be the difference in winning or losing on the score cards.

Why don't they allow an allowance for title fights? Maybe not a pund but something like .5. I swear every time I get excited for a card something always happens.

Romero should be forced to move up after failing twice in a row.

Don't really care that the guy missed weight by 0.2 lbs, let him fight for the title & if you can't let him fight for the title, then atleast give him his full purse.

It's bull****. The penalty for missing weight is way lower than the potential long-term payoff. The same thing happens in boxing.

I think the record for fighters missing weight this year is 8-1 with the only loss being some girl making her UFC debut. Definately no downside to the people missing weight as seen with Romero they still get the title shot even if they miss weight in the previous fight.

Dana mentioned after the weigh ins last night that if he wins he should move up to 205 and fight the #1 contender there which would be Gus.

The real question is why do they allow an allowance for non-title fights?

If you make a 0.5 pound allowance, then you basically just create a 185.5 pound division, which fighters will adjust for. Yoel would have just come in at 185.7 if that were the case.

I'd go a step further and start deducting points.

They can deduct points for fighters trying to get an unfair advantage (e.g. grabbing the cage, illegal strikes, grabbing the shorts). How is coming in heavier than the other guy any different?
